I got the exploration ability a few days ago and I've been using it like crazy, but I never seem to find what I really want. Since my corp is a mining corp, I've been seeking out hidden asteroid belts and while I've managed to find about a dozen worm holes and twice as many combat complexes, I've no luck with belts. I've been scanning in high sec space. Do they only exist in low sec or is the ore only inside worm holes now?

No, there are just a million other highsec explorers beating you to it. They do spawn in highsec. Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie ROTDK is recruiting

And I'm also interested in this, as I want to start finding hidden asteroid belts as well. So I need the Exploration skill to do this? Is it a training book like all the rest?
And a second newb question - is high-sec consider only .6 and above? Or like .8 and above? Everyone says high-sec / low-sec, but I'm not sure where the "line" between the two is. Is it .5?
Thanks!

Hi Sec / Empire = 1.0 to 0.5 Lo Sec = 0.4 to 0.1 Null Sec = 0.0 and below

I haven't found any either yet, but as said, I'm not the only one looking.

I used to find grav belts all the time in less populated regions. I've never witnessed anything better than losec ore (Which tend to lose to even highsec ore) in one of the said sites. 0.0 grav sites are almost always good, pure bistot belts and such.

All right then. I was wondering if maybe I was just missing them or something. Since I'm hanging out in a pretty well populated area of space, I'll see if I can't find some less used places and search there. Thanks guys.

lowsec is also empire space
also most highsec grav sites have really bad ore, unless something crazy has happened to minerals lately.

Depending on where you are base omber and base kernite can both be valuable sold as raw ore to people looking to complete the Materials for War Preparation storyline missions. Recently I was in a region where kernite was going for 600 isk/unit for example. This is highly situational, don't complain if you're out by Khanid and kernite is 85 isk/unit or so.
Kernite in general isn't a bad ore to mine to refine, pretty much all the other ores (Jaspet, Hedbergite, Omber, Hemorphite) that you'll find in high sec grav sites suck (or at least they did the last time I ran the profitability numbers.)

You can also find lots of minerals by running missions. Most missions have some sort of ore in them, and for the most part you get that space all for yourself and for your corp. Some missions hold quite a bit of ore, and you can farm them for a whole week if you want to keep mining by not finishing the mission objective. Very useful for a mining corp in busy space.

Grav site in very non-populated high sec system (near low sec) was mined out in less than 16 hours.
I started it at night but had to go to bed. Next day I finished work early and went back to find one roid left at 55KMs away....

To the OP, they're available in surprisingly populated spaces. I found a massive Kernite, Omber site within 2 jumps of Jita the other day. I know that conventional wisdom will tell you to just go mine Veld, but I think Kernite is still worth the effort, plus it's fun to track these sites down. The grav sites seems really hard to hit so make sure you're skilled up at scanning. Pony up for the good kit if you can afford it which means you'll probably have to contract for the Sister's launcher (haven't done that myself yet).
