I want to set my orbit (for example) to 43 km. It's possible to create an orbit range different from actual setting?

When in doubt, right-click it! Pretty much everything in EVE has a context menu.
You can set the "keep at range" button similarly.

Just as an FYI, orbit at 43km on anything other than a structure is going to be pretty difficult to maintain, especially if you're in a bs.

In this case set the keep at (enter your prefferd distance) on the straight line button next to the orbit button. This will allow you to kite the targets that do not close the distance (frigates and destroyers)

Orbiting is ok when you are starting out and with small ships but its much more effective to learn how to fly with out it. yes im talking about you double clicking in space and physically moving your ship. you get much better control and can actually improve your tracking on your ship. one example with battleships in a mission, they like to orbit you and are slow to react to you. so if you are in a battleship and want to cut them off, you just click in the general direction they are heading. and bam your transversal is cut down to very little long enough to get one or two nice beam shots off.

Or in case you are in a missile/drone ship you click in the general oposite directtion and mitigate some damage that you tank dont need to deal with. :-) Learning how to navigate, and the effect it will have on the combat its a very nice thing to do, no matter what kind of weapon you use. _
I like to play this game because it make my in-game actions and archievments to mean something in-game. |
