hi all, ok for the "realism" of space but CCP repainted the background too much dark in my opinion. Every system now looks like equal each other. One of the important thing to choose a system for living was not only resources distributed inside, distance from major market hubs, services in stations but also the environment and color of the system. Now, ships and structures are badly visible. It is a non sense to create super textures on ships when you cannot see them clearly. Due to this explained psychological factor, you have preview a consistent number of defection, imho. CCP, please, restore previous light and colors. Tetractys

I love the new backgrounds. The space was always too bright in eve, and as the developers said, eve is supposed to be dark and cruel.
If memory serves, it was only a certain kind of space phenomena that created light like the space in Apocrypha. Imo it's stupid to have the same bright mess everywhere.

This fix had been requested many times. The space was far too bright orginally. Now it is more realistic and easier on the eyes.
No problem here. What you are seeing are the results of them fixing a problem, which looks very good to be honest.

i guess they havent repainted all of the backgrounds yet. at least in Pynekastoh, where i am atm on Sisi, theres still the same old (too bright and ugly) background nebulae as before. at least i cant tell a difference.
Hmmmm. Hikkoken, which is the neighbouring system to Pynekastoh, looks much better though. Its alot darker than before, from what i can tell.
Im gonna jump around a bit and have a look at other solar systems too.

I think the nebula background is not only darker, but also more transparent now. Maybe its only more transparent now and its getting darker because of that :P

I'm on the boat that doesn't like the new background. The blurred effect on the stars just makes the whole thing look rubbish. It looks more like stars look from space, rather than how they look from Earth. I thought the new stars would be like the feeling you get when you lay in your garden and just stare up at the stars. But it's more of a blurry mess.

correct me if im wrong, but wasnt that the intention, that they look more like stars look from space.

Realism isn't always better. For example the physics in EVE, which is modelled using fluid dynamics.

Interesting. Physics in EVE is not reproduced as the reality (maybe for simplicity). Anyway, would you explain better your thinking?

There are Physics in EVE?
..lol
As for the OP, I disagree, it's still a little too bright.
This is space.
Not Sub-atmospheric space.
And I still feel there are too many stars, though the new starfield looks gorgeous, and I've gotta say the changes are very welcome.

The physcis are alternative reality.
I agree space is non atmospheric. more stars are needed - more solar systems that is Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |

Now if we could only get deeper shadows from the system star - black on one side and lite on the other - and some paralax involved with celestial bodies we would be in business!

There's already "some parallax involved"; as you move around the system, you can see other objects move around as well...

Little photoshopping, added shadows/ambient according to the planets dark side.

Removing the shadows from the darkside of planets is a silly idea, regarless of what else they do.
Having the same effect on ships is an intersting idea, but shadow casting from one ship to another that is in front of it relative to the sun could be hardware intensive.

Already gets done.. don't know if you got shadow activated in 'graphic content settings'.. but my ships cast shadows on just anything and receive shadows

Adding another light source in some systems might be an idea, dual suns tirple sun perhaps.
But it is ok as is Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |
