Edited by: bff Jill on 05/03/2010 19:28:45 Its not the ships, its the risk of losing implants. I would pvp more if i knew my 1 billion isk implant set would only cost me as much as my ship to replace in the event of a horrible smartbomb pod explosion, a bubble, or an inty.
Ships are relatively cheap as it is.
And there is no point just using these implants for pve since pve is easy. So really, the implants are useless... But they make my EFT fits look ub3r Pwn54uc3

cheaper ships = more boring pvp
There are plenty of online FPS and RTS games I can play that have much more pvp and where the losses are meaningless. That's not what I want from EVE

Edited by: Alpha Wolfgang on 06/03/2010 01:14:18 i kinda want ships to cost more... i like that feeling of self preservation in a game, flying your battleship through a deadly area with some friends knowing that if you lose this ship you got some work ahead of you to get a new one fitted, making pvp more intense and less "oh ill just fly back to the station and pick another ship from my 100 ship collection".
i remember when i first started and i was flying my first destroyer through .4 space and an apocolypse came up on me and i fought my hardest and retreated to the sentry guns, i actually got his shields and armor down a bit but was destroyed, i was kinda ****ed because the ship was new, but i loved that conflict, the loss of the ship that i worked for and lost because i flew through danger space gave me a good feeling of the game. that incident made me love eve even more and i still want to find the guy that did it and pay him a visit (i have his name in my notepad lol)

Flying only ships that cost 10-20m after insurance isn't really challenging. Prices have to be so "high" because otherwise it would feel like on sisi. And sisi PvP is nice for testing stuff but isn't actually fun. On Sisi my heartbeat stays at 60bpm even when flying 300m isk ships. ------ Make Lowsec useful! Vote in the CSM-Forum! |

What this guy said... If the poor can buy a titan then this turns into every other game out there. Nothing is more satisfying that knowing you just cost someone a certain amount of time ratting/mining/trading/manufacturing/plex buying. Even dying is fun. My heart gets pumping when I am into structure trying to find an escape from the blob. "oh no I lost my carrier, oh well, its only 10m to replace it, I just sold an item while in that battle to cover it.

i have only pvp'd a few times but really there are cheap ships for it. now you wont find T2 ships on the cheap but from the videos i have seen, an organised gang in some T1 ships can tear **** up. even solo T1 ships can tear it up if flown correctly. no requirement to use a battleship!

I'll agree with this sentiment. You can avoid a lot of the risk of implants by just sticking to lowsec though.
I'll point this out of the OP too - it's not the ships, it's the implants. It's not at all unusual for experienced PvPers to have an implant set in that's worth orders of magnitude more than the ship they're flying.

That way if you kill a few ships before you die in a T1 ship you wont lose as much and in a T2/T3 ship you will have to kill even more.
Or implant insurance lol.

Yust remove the insurance completly.
A lost BS would mean something again. We will see more T1 frigattes and cruisers in PVP. All T1 ships will become cheaper because there is no insurance anymore wich keeps the price at an artificial high price. The mineral market will be free at last, because of the lack of a mineral basket.
Remove the insurance. It will hurt in the beginning but it is the better long term solution to a lot of problems.
