EVE Gate should load and confirm your profile was changed. 4) Your open character profile on Sisi should remain unchanged (since you haven't typed anything into it yet) 5) Close your character bio
Since closing the window seems to tell the client to save whatever is written as your profile, there exists a sort-of race condition for saving the profile contents.
My ExpertÖ advice: explicit "Save profile" button in the EVE client
Wait, so you understand race conditions but not blocking?
Also, yay EVE gate!

Your Alpha has month old info on Eve Gate. Says I'm not training, am 30 million dollars poorer and have a million less SP. FYI. As designed?

Okay, blocking would be another option, but you generally don't want to block calls for an extended period of time. There's no way to know how long a client will have the bio page open. Also, if the client crashes with the bio open, you could have a messy situation.

As others have been told in the thread: EVE Gate is currently connected to the Singularity mirror (and all that entails), not Tranquility.

This is the case for me, it seems. bleh. Wtb updated mirror.
You should get one late next week the next time we update Singularity,

It should be pointed out that if your character has another character set to +10 standings then that other character will be able to see all your contacts. I sure hope this doesn't mean that any corp/alliance I set to +10 will be able to see all my contacts. Regardless, you need to either state this in bold letters to everyone or you need to disable it until you do (or until the release). In other words, right now whomever I have set to +10 can see all my contacts.
Oh yeah, I can't change the the standings through the browser, only the cancel button on the popup works.

Hmm.... lol, minable Mutual Contacts list. :D
Seriously, having to delete all my Sisi contacts because of some idiot decided mutual contacts are a good thing to show to the world annoys me greatly. Please (pretty please with cherry on top?) tell me the final version won't have such foolish information leaks in it?
On the plus side, bulk contact delete works. Tested it 20 times. All that's left now is is a "disbanded alliance" that I can't delete.
Chatter is cool, btw.

It's hard-coded right now, but if you check the "Account Settings" link in the upper-right ( https://test.evegate.com/Account/Settings ) there's an example of what privacy settings might be available in the future.

Yes currently account settings are hard coded for this SISI test and plan to be addressed within the next sprint. If you look at the account settings page you will see our placeholder information we are working on with combo drop downs for who you want to see and post on your wall. Same goes for who you can see as contacts. Wording will be cleared up as well on that page for clarity.

I guess a work-around for now would be to remove all your contacts (since it's just a Sisi mirror anyway) if you're concerned about contact data mining.

Ok, I will try to explain this a little better. RIGHT NOW a CEO of one of my characters who is set to good standing (left over from when we first met) is able to see my alts that I set to +10 to identify them as an alt. Even if these are only on Sisi they are still a copy of older standings that can still be valid.
So everyone should go to their contacts, click on every contact and find out who some or all of their alts are, maybe them are doing some kind of spy thing or working for another corp with alts.
You've opened a hole here and need to fix it.

There will be an option/check box in the Account Settings to show or hide your mutual contacts towards others.

Showing mutual contacts must by default be off, or there needs to be a way to have "friends" that don't show up to everyone else. Currently it is extremely open to exploitation to find out of two people know each other by adding both parties to your address book and seeing if they appear as shared contacts. AND the data is very minable.

I can not see someone else's contacts unless they have me added as a contact too. Although I do agree with what you are saying, but I'm just saying..... -------------------------------------- Adrift in New Eden

what is the limit as to how many contacts you can have?
I get 20:32:48 Info The contact list you are adding to is full. Please consider trimming your current list.
which means I can't set standings to people or corps that I do not already have in addressbook.

Awesome. Might've been better to hardwire it to 'off' for now, though. I understand it's on for the wow-factor and all, but I had to delete 20 pages of contacts. On this test hardware, that was rather painful.

Except that you can. If there's a shared contact, right now, you can see it on the profile page. Combined with the clean XHTML making automising of scraping relatively easy, and with public sources of character names, it's very feasible to create a contact list scraper.

Edited by: Fridge Chesthair on 23/03/2010 22:46:27 Content Feedback::
Can someone (doesn't have to be a dev) explain a use for the quick contacts list on the right side your character's profile page?
I understand the usefulness of displaying a short list of mutual contacts when viewing a someone's character profile page.
Can I suggest including something else? I wouldn't even mind a news feed or ingame advertisement.
Layout:
I'm not a graphic designer, but I found the tile bar(s) to be overly thick. Also, the buttons in the lower section of the bar (HOME, PROFILE, CONTACTS, MAIL, ETC.) are not visually separated from the remainder of the bar.
I mocked up a quick'n'dirty example.

Can only comment on UI and graphic design at this point. Very clean and easy to read type. Website fits nicely within a 1280x720 space (I disagree with one of the previous comments about the navigation bars). Information generally flows top left to right, which is good. Addition of small (ICC) standings icons under Contacts subnav on the left would be helpful. Addition of icons here and there would be well advised but should only be considered where emphasis is needed and many UI options are immediately next to each other.
Overall, well done.

It's not quite spacebook, although I'm still calling it that.
I can't seem to get my character pict in the profile...
