Macro Miners are a pain, no doubt. They obliterate entire systems of asteroid fields leaving crumbs for those new players just starting out. They also effect the eve economy with the isk they generate.
Why do they need the isk? Why, to sell it to players for profit of course. Where? Ebay. If you have the RL money you can get whatever you need for little or no work.
Macro miners expend little or no effort, and neither do the players who puchase thier isk from ebay. Guess this makes the rest of us who love PLAYING the game fools to them.
The Dev's and GM's need to look at this closely. They should run some stings on the biggest ebay sellers to find out more about them and shut them down if they are using the game as a profit center. Its damaging to the spirit of the game and to the economics of the game as well.
The lack of response though by CCP on the ebay mass selling of Eve does raise an ugly little doubt in my mind. What if CCP is not willing to aggressively close the ebay isk sellers down because they are linked to mass macro miners who have 20 to 30 accounts. Thats alot of money per month to ban. So the question becomes is the money more important than the spirit of the game?
Well?

Its not only ebay. what bout IGE? They buy and sell game currency from a multitude of games...seems like a pretty big business. Very tempting for a new player who wants to plunk down like 20 bucks for x million of isk....

i think ccp missed a trick when they lanched eve in the first place, they should have had added isk and items into there online shop, ccp should have sold isk and ships from the start, not only would this give players who cant spend all day every day on eve the chance to keep up with the less employed or more more dedicated players, but it would have destroyed the market of eve products on ebay and generated extra income aswell, i cant see a flaw with this plan but im sure there are some, pls give comment, thank you |

Just cause you dont hear about it doesnt mean they dont do it, i mean it isnt actually a sting if you come out and just tell everyone "ok were now going to start busting all the big ebay sellers", you just get the big sellers to stop selling for a little while. Though couldnt CCP ask Ebay to not allow listing of eve related items?

Macro Miner: ok first of off
Macro- to use a recorded set of key strokes or mouse strokes and clicks
Miner- Someone or something that is using mining lasers to mine roids, ICE/REGULER roids.
Macro Miner- Someone using a set of recorder mouse strokes or key strokes to drag or drop ore in to the cans
Advanced Macro Miner- Somon Who uses a macro that the set or recordings are advanced that can drop ore in can, make another can, lock an roid, pick up ore with hauler, drop it in station then undock, etc

I'm not asking to hear about it. I want them to get rid of the Ebay sellers / Macro Miners.
A few of them have stores where you can buy whatever you want. I dont care if you are selling a character you developed and are now leaving the game. That is entirely different from opening a for RL profit store where the rich can buy anything they want.
This disrupts the economics of the game. Eve economics are fragile to outside disruption. They are screwing up the markets and making it proportionally more difficult for new users and existing users to make money or sell product. Why spend tens hours building your apoc when you can buy it with Lvl II mods for 25.00 to 50.00 US?
The fact that the Ebay sellers / Macro Miners have been profiting for months says that CCP is unwilling or unable to stop them.
CCP should be asking us to report them online for suspension and or banning. The players of Eve can solve this problem in a few weeks. Then there will be no where for them to macro mine in peace and generate cheap isk.

and they enjoy watching TV/**** at the same time as they mine
i can understand them, mining is as boring as watching paint dry

I think CCP do need to prosecute those people who operate on Eve using scripts and selling isk on e.g. e-bay. AND they should set examples of people they caught, as this will work as a deterrant for anyone who might get the idea to cheat in such a way.

Get a form of ISD or Aurora ingame, make them Uber characters with state of the art factionships, just let them spawn next to proven macro users and whoop them everytime again and again without Concord interfering.
Call it the AMS (Anti Macro Squad)
If they kill the macro user ships everytime they log in the macro user will go byebye real fast. And trust me, there will be enough applicants to whoop macro user ships.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |
