Okay, we all know the occasional genius who hopes to reel in a sucker with this trick. For this thread let me list Remote Sensing NPC Price 250,000.00 isk which 1 unit as been bought and relisted at 249,999,999.00 isk in Balle.
Common trick, yes. But if we consider that any similarly listed product that is listed lower at that station will be moved first wouldn't it be really stupid to relist at the NPC supplying station? I mean, if someone does accidentally buy that skillbook is not all of that isk going to go to the NPC? (Into ether for all intents and purposes?)
I'm just wondering if perhaps I missed something or the guy relisting is a fool?
PS: Just to prove if you are really really stupid would the owner of that 249 mil skillbook please raise his hand.

I haven't tested the mechanic myself but going with fool would be a safe bet. People also do similar listings when someone else already has a lower price because they don't realise.

I actually know how the market works.
This guy, whoever the **** he is, doesn't.
Edit: Thanks for the idea, I'm going to go re-list a bunch of units of remote sensing and see how stupid people are.

Relisting day for me is the 8th when everyone in the special needs ward is finally unleashed on the expansion.

I believe the OP's point is that it is *literally* impossible for someone to purchase that book, as the NPC supply will never run out and the market will always reroute the buy to the lowest price.
You pretty much answered your own question, which is that the only person who would put up such an order doesn't understand how market transactions function.
Let's also not forget that it costs a lot of isk to put up a 250mil sell order.

actually an interesting question.
WILL the system reroute to the NPC sell order or, since it's an npc, will you still get the sale?
Would be easy to check by putting up a sell order for something random at .01 isk over npc price and buying it, might need an alt to do that or can you buy from your own orders?
