Edited by: ForU2nV on 04/09/2010 14:36:13 Ok guys check out this new ccp video: http://www.eveuniversalglory.com/ I watched the Causualty vid that ccp have just put out and i was kinda annoyed by what it was promoting. We see small time scammers in major hubs day in day out telling people that 'if you send me isk blah blah blah , i will send you back x10 the amout you send etc' and tbh if you get scammed by that your pretty ****in dumb and possibly deserve the 2010 darwin award for the ultimate dummy w/e. But for CCP to promote major scamming on a gigantic scale i think is wrong.
What they are promoting is that after you loose your ship, quite possibly because you were ****in stupid in the first place, the best way to take revenge is to try to join the alliance, pretend to be peoples friends and gain 'real' peoples trust over 'x' amount of months or years etc (however long it takes) and then completely screw them when you get a chance. Is this what eve has become? What are CCP tryign to acomplish by promoting this kinda of activity in eve? Are they trying to encourage people to topple the existing large alliances or something? Do they think that one 'bad egg' screwing up 1-3000 members game up is a good thing to do? Possibly resulting in a loss of membership for hacked off old players that put alot of time and effort into building the alliances in the first place.
So ok, there is the argument that æwell if you give out roles then you deserve to get screwedÆ or æjust keep roles to yourself and donÆt share responsibility out.Æ But to be completely fair, you cannot grow effectively if there is only one person in charge with all the roles doing everything. People æBURN OUT!Æ You have to trust to grow and to promote the game to newer players in this way undermines everything that this game used to be and could be.
I really am annoyed and dismayed by this video. DonÆt get me wrong the video was great and well done. I also understand that this is going to get trolled but meh iÆm sure a lot of people agree with me. An no iÆm not just some little carebear whiner

I see what your saying here m8. But has the game really come to the stage where to kill a large alliance all you should need is one guy? What is the point in building a vast capital fleets and conventional fleets when all it takes currently is one guy? I just think this sort of meta gaming ruins the game. One minute CCP promote large fleet battles in its video's. Ah you know what i get it now. The LAG has gotten so bad and out of control they are urging people away from 100 on 100 battles. haha maybee i have finally found CCP's conspiricy here. we cant fix the lag so lets promote killing large alliances from the inside with maybee a couple of guys. LOL!

You might be annoyed, but this is what can and does happen.

If you actually think about it, advertising the horribly flawed corporation and alliance management system as a feature has to be a genius move.

Well, the chances of one ****ed off guy getting into a mega corporation, after ending up on their killboards. Then gaining enough power to steal everything! Is so low, this has only ever happened once or twice from my understanding. _

Let me remember the last time I felt emotional over an advert or promo video ...
... ah, yes, it was a fuel company, who showed how a wonderful world got painted by the exhaust gases of a car. That was awful, because there is just nothing good about a car's exhaust gases. I wonder what the message was. Maybe they were trying to say "we suck hard at all we do, including our promo videos".
Anyway, it is just a promo video to get new customers into EVE. EVE itself was designed by the devil and to prepare the living for hell. You cannot promote it by any means but a lie. --

Edited by: Spruillo on 04/09/2010 15:52:54 Yeah, basically it is not sarcasm and poor attitude to as a rule of thumb, play alone with alt corp and have no trust based dealings outside a few rl friends.
What gets me going is how this gives some an upper hand in exploiting and utilizing eden's resources in an unbalanced manner. Russians.
CCP allows RL crooks free hand to control vast turf and resources and their rl cultural structures and ties preclude most factors which prevent us 'normal' gamers from enjoying such experiences more than briefly.
One remark in the russian>ATLAS saga that made me LOL was atlas member pointing out that ppl had rl stuff especially this time of year and simply can't babysit the stupid internet spaceships 23/7
Well guess what the isk farmers can because this IS their rl.
It would be more humorous if it wasn't for the fact that mmog gold farming along with other online ventures is just one tentacle of a beast that kills, blackmails, tortures, ****s, etc in the RL aspects of their ventures.
Matter of fact, starting a few days ago I pod random russians for lulz as soon as sec gets about +3-4

How many players joined EVE because they read about the Guiding Hand theft in PC gamer? This is what EVE can be. It is part of the political tapestry that makes us up, good bad and ugly.
While I question CCPs taste in promoting this particular facet of the political spectrum, it's actually pretty honest, compared to their other videos, and I suspect it will garner some subscriptions. Which, in the end, is good for the game as a whole.

Uh, ok.
Nobody cares about you or your ability to disband an already-****ty alliance to begin with (which in all fairness it probably was because you were the person that started it to begin with and only put up this C&P thread sharading to make it seem like you are an outsider while in fact you were already very much in power to disband hydra at the moment you put up that very first thread).
Xenuria, you are just an attention seeking director that thought it'd be fun to pretend to be some disgruntled noob on one of your alts and posing that as the reason why you disband an alliance.
Your name will forever go down in my book as a synonym for "attention *****", have fun with your new found fame. __________________________________________________

Well TBH this just opens up another pretty ****ed up mechanic in the current game, in the fact that once you join a corporation and are given roles you have to wait 24 hours b4 you can leave and that when you want to kill a corporation you have to kick everyone out and then resign as ceo. Yet an alliance can be disbanded in the click on a button?? this really needs sorting. When BOB died everyone was like woot, yeah bob's dead awsome. but even bob didnt deserve to go out like that. where was the skill? the fact is that it is complete asshats and noobs that do this kind of thing. and i know its only a game, but to be honest, joining a corp and befriending its members for long periods of times and then ****ing them in the ass.... they really must be serious P R I C K's in RL

What something is, is as it is advertised.
A trailer all about mining and making ISK would attract people who think that he who wins has the most ISK and nothing more.
But this trailer - not sure about it really.
I fear the "Baywatch Effect".
Back in the days of yore, Jet Skis were simply small fast boats and only a minor nuisance for the most part. Someone would occasionally be an ass hat but most jet skiers were boaters too.
Then Baywatch came along.
And they put in Jet Skis.
And the kinds of people who watched that show got Jet Skis.
And by the late 1990s, Jet Skis were banned just about everywhere, if not under terrible scrutiny from harbor patrols. And there was good reason, for Jet Skis also evolved from a machine requiring skill to stand up on morphed into sit-downs or "butt skis" and thus came the Quick Gratification Crowd. The typical moron who would engage in rank asshattery would try an old stand-up ski, fall down a few times, and then say "this sucks!" and then go find something else to engage their short attention span.
A trailer that is all about taking down an alliance by gaining trust and then robbing them blind, complete with a sense of victimism? Just not sure. What kind of people will this attract? Who can sit around trying to scam people and rob corporations in a game based on based combat?
I think this could be an indication that CCP is not planning on fixing lag. It's the 0.0 crowd, the large fleet fights, where lag is felt hardest. Use a trailer to attract these types who sole purpose in game is to take down corporations with theft and corruption and there might not be any more large alliances, and thus few large fleet battles.
Though much of the new mechanics already suggest and end to the need for large fleets anyway, and at times I wonder if CCP fully intends this but won't tell anybody because the players who live for it will quit overnight.

Off topic was in Y-W on saturday night in fleet battle of around 250 and it was terrific guns/mods cycled properly overview worked and you were able to target reasonably quickly and any lag was minimal so just maybe CCP has fixed LAG. Well done CCP I and all that were involved had a blast.

Edited by: Jion Tichy on 07/09/2010 12:44:23 The fact that the major alliances in the game have a history of collapsing due to infiltration is certainly newsworthy and I think CCP were right to make a video out of it, it's quite interesting and I imagine it will draw many people to the game.
The deeper theme of the video is that your actions do ripple outward and affect others, and then you live in the world that you've affected. For better or for worse, I don't believe in karma.
Originally by: Herzog Wolfhammer I think this could be an indication that CCP is not planning on fixing lag.
Your logic is an inescapable steel trap. Video about scamming, therefore CCP are leaving lag in. Brilliant thinking there.

as we are playing an mmo people have to interact. to achieve something beyond things single players can achieve you have to work together. ccp promoting things like that is a mistake imo. corp thiefs and alliance traitors scam/betray the trust not of characters but of people. this shot could backfire because basically u can not trust anybody. interaction becomes meaningless.
