Look the only way to secure an ipo is have chribba allow someone into his corp with chribba having majority and making all the decisions and the offerer doing all the work.
Anything or anyone else is not securable.
Period.
If you think im wrong.
Good luck. |

Quote: Exactly. If I were Chribba right now, and happened to have scamming on my mind, I'd be wetting my pants at the opportunities presented by those who've said, in the wake of BB's scam, "That's it, no more bonds/IPOs unless they're backed by Chribba." It's like the precise opposite response one should reasonably have toward BB's scam.
Chribba, at this point in the game, provides security and is a final and close to everlasting bastion of honesty in the game. If he ever did scam a new precedent would be set destroying players views of any security.
IMO he is the ONLY person capable of securing assets AND ventures. Once he were to scam (which i dont believe he ever would) nothing would be sacred ever again. Worst issue arrising from his scamming would be the endless number of muppets that would attempt to take his place. I feel Grendel is a good guy but even still he doesnt have 100% of my trust. I would be crushed if Chribba ever scammed. Anyone else is a "well thats no surprise" situation. |

Sorry to crush your hopes and dreams, while Chribba is probably one of the persons least likely to scam, he's certainly NOT the absolutely least likely to scam, and if the take would be high enough (and/or target would be "morally acceptable" for the majority of forum dwellers), he'd at least be tempted for sure, and might just do it.
You'd be surprised at just how many generally WELL-KNOWN SCAMMERS still keep on operating in spite of their overall negative reputation. Also, you'd probably be surprised at how low the percentage of players that even know who's Chribba actually is.
The more ISK a person stands to gain compared to his total wealth (be it current or personal historic maximum), the more likely it is he will succumb to the temptation of scamming. Sure, a person might never get across an opportunity that involves enough value to self-justify a reputation loss, but that doesn't mean that person would never scam. Not with the current game mechanics anyway.
After a certain ISK value, it's all about the "percentage of ISK gained"/"reputation lost" ratio (and about how important that reputation is for the holder in the first place). Chribba just has a lot of positive reputation to lose (and he seems to care about it), is also quite wealthy, has no particularly strong political affiliations... so he can be trusted by most people with much more ISK than others.
While i dont disagree with you i still believe he has so much invested in the game via outside projects it would simply blow my mind if he did. I dont think you appreciate the magnitude of what he has invested in the game.
I feel the only time he would consider AND follow through with THE scam would be close to the time CCP shutters the servers. He simply has too much isk going through his wallet even now for him to wake up and say, "today is the day".
IMO of course.
Edit: or he quits. |

Edited by: Jovialmadness on 07/09/2010 13:36:04 Very true. I dont invest in anyone but myself anyway. Well i do give away quite a substantial amount of isk to friends and corp but i dont consider that true investing. But having said all that, Chribba is the only icon i feel is trustworthy. Other than myself. I know i would never scam but i also would never start a venture so it could never be tested. Besides, someone who gives away 20 or so bil a year to his bro's isnt exactly a poster child for scam artist.
Edit spelling. And to add i would scam a known scam artist who took me or a friend in a heartbeat.

Exactly.
Guess I could have put it that way as well
(it's shorter )
Damn straight. It goes even deeper though. Thinking you can buy a new character only goes so far....bobby can never attempt anything valid again atleast anything valid where teamspeak is concerned. A new character is one thing, a new voice is another.
Thats what really sucks for him and these other guys that cashed in their souls for a certain amount of isk. They wont be able to use voip ever again concerning legit enterprises.
Naturally other things yes but not this stuff again. Hell that would be a good idear actually. Lets start keeping voice files on people and subject them to random voice testing on voip.... |
