Semi casual player. I've played few other mmo's in the past, NEVER been scammed before. I consider myself an intelligent person yet I've been shown that fast judgment can punish you.
Story:
So I've been ratting in my Raven for the past 2-3 months, few hours everyday to get some isk to pay for the monthly plex and to upgrade to a shiny Raven Navy Issue. So I finally save up to ~570 mil isk. Get my ass into Jita check out the contracts .. nothing in my price range ( for some reason CNR price's went up in the last 2 months - last time I checked was ~530 mil ). Since it was the weekend I wanted to get one that day so I could use it over the weekend.
I make a shout in local "want to buy Raven Navy Issue", some guy links: "want to sell Raven Navy issue: 500 mil firesale". I open chat ask about the CNR, he says no contract slots left. I say OK, i'm in Jita 4-4 just trade it here.
NOW, I think everyone figgured out what happened next. He puts in the trade a ship CALLED Raven Navy Issue ( regular Raven ). I add the isk click OK.
I realize I've been scammed 10-15 seconds after the trade is over.
My issues with this: 1. Not enough experience to tell the difference in graphics between the Raven and the CNR 2. The bad mechanics of the trade system ( or so I find it ) in which the SHIP name and not the actual ITEM name is shown in trade 3. So angry that I've allowed myself to be scammed, I've always thought of other people being scammed in other games that "STUPID ! CHECK ALL THE INFO". And now I say the same thing to myself.
Have this serve as info to the other people who don't know this about the station trade mechanics. No way I feel I have patience to grind it over again, not due to the time but it just feels that I'm a victim to .... "bad mechanics" or .. not enough info.

You were a victim of a scam, not 'bad mechanics' or 'not enough info' -- the mechanics to provide you with all the info you needed were there and working.
1. show info in the trade window (right click).
2. If his contract slots were really 'full', you could have created the contract yourself.
3. If he claimed to still have problems, you could have made a normal market buy order for 500m -- no contract required.
So yes, you were a victim, but only of a scam; a scam that only worked because you were in a hurry thus not paying attention.
It sucks, but if your lack of patience "to grind it over again" is another way of saying "i quit!", well, bye.

Right click > show info Useful for everything that you do. Always take the time to double check all your intel. I'm sure you won't repeat the mistake again, though thats of little consolation now. Eve is all about taking time, lots of time, and unfortunately you've found it the hard way. one way or the other everyone takes a hit at some point in eve, consider this one yours and pick up and keep going.

No need for C&P. It's maybe something that others will learn from. Good for the guy that he found the fool to scam: ME.
Yes, you're right about show info but I made the assumption that item in trade is item name not ship name. Fast and bad judgment

Ok you got scammed. I'll have you know that happens quite a bit in EVE and the variant you fell for is very common and easily detectable. EVE is different because this kind of stuff is both possible and allowed - there is a multitude of other MMOs out there where you too can be the epic superhero of legends that make sure no one even thinks about being a villain. And on top of that, you should probably have posted this in the appropriate forum, whether that is C&P or AH, rather than My EVE.

Come on, man.
"Firesale"? "I don't have any contract slots left"? Trading for something amazingly cheap via Local chat in Jita? Counter-intuitive game mechanics aside, you still deserved to get scammed.
Also, don't fly ships you can't afford to replace. It seems like so many mission runners ignore this golden rule of EVE, buying the best stuff they can get their hands on as soon as they can afford it. As months and years pass, they become a juicy, multi-billion ISK piħata.
Then they caught, they get popped, and they ragequit. Mission running from paycheck to paycheck is a terrible way to play EVE. One person or group of people can ruin everything you've worked for in just minutes.

Shoulda gone for a Golem, I honestly don't see the point in wasting 530mil for an extra high slot... that isk could have gone towards something that actually works.
It's pronounced row-bot-nick you silly FC. |

Yeah because golems are a natural first upgrade for casual newcomers
This guy was dumb to fall for a scam but it's not nearly as terrible as your sense of reality.

lol the answer to that fabled "i have no contract slots available" statement is this "ok i'll setup a want to buy contract for you so" usually it catches them out.
