Edited by: Lennvas on 23/01/2011 22:35:45 I think I found an error. AN(total import tax) includes all the import taxes of the required materias(found in V-AD-AL). But column L(cycle component cost)is the sum of V-AD-AL and AN(among other stuf. So AN contains the import taxes twice.
Now it seems to work fine, but suddenly while I was examining it(not changing anything), multiple boxes went empty but not whole rows or columns. Its essentially the same as what happened before with the downloaded version for excel. Any idea what happened?

Fixed. Nice catch.

That happens sometimes when the spreadsheet is unable to load the latest prices from Eve-Central. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything I can do about it.
My personal work-around is to save a local copy as a PDF or CSV just in case that happens while using the spreadsheet.

Did you ever think about using the quicklook api? http://api.eve-central.com/api/quicklook?typeid=34&usesystem=30000142 34 is the typeid of tritanium 30000142 is the sytem id of Jita This will get you all buy and sell orders for Jita (unbiased by the other The Forge prices in the api call you use now). No way to get Jita 4/4 prices alone though It's a lot of work to get Jita lowest sell/highest buy prices instead of those for the whole The Forge region, but they would be more accurate... It's a truckload more of data of course and you'ld only need highest buy/lowest sell. You can't specify multiple items either, but since PI only deals with 83 items I think it's doable... (at least when GoogleDocs can handle xpath expressions!) --- I'm not as bad-ass as some of my corp mates, but I'll pwn you anyway!

Thanks for this tool. It was a bit confusing at first but after reading your explanation a few times I think I got the hang of it. I'm just starting with PI and this will save me lots of time checking to see if I should sell the P1 or process it into P2.
I do have one question. How often does it update the prices from eve-central automatically?

I cannot control that aspect and it doesn't seem to be documented by Google. Experience suggests a refresh occurs every time somebody new loads it and therefore in practice measured in (tens) of minutes.
I try to ensure that I upload all PI materials to eve-central at least once a day, obviously with others using the uploader, popular items get updated a lot more often.

Well I made a copy of it to include the regions I am most active in. So, I wonder how I can force my copy to update.

Force a browser refesh should do that, SHIFT+CTRL+R or Shift+Click Refresh.

It will be very interesting to see how PI prices develop over the coming month. I think it should be carefully considered that many people might train PI themselves to compensate for the rising prices, which could actually bring them down somewhat.

I am slightly confused on which set of columns I should be looking at.
So Columns G-J show the cost and sell value of moving the resources from Raw to Processed (T1)?
And Columns K-N shows the cost and sell values of moving the processed stuff (t1) to t3 components?
I am extracting all my raw resources and processing them into "processed materials", then I am exporting them to a factory planet which turns them into T2 components. Then Finally on the same planet they are turned into T3 components - at the current time producing Robotics.
The T2 stuff is Mechanical Parts, Consumer Electronics, Coolant, and Enriched Uranium
Making POS Fuel.
I am interested in making something else that would be profitable as well. But I am having trouble reading the charts.

I think I got it now, so columns G-J indicate what it would cost if I bought the T1 components and turned them into the final product, while the columns K-N should the value of producing the items from scratch, or am I reading it wrong

Columns G-J show the cost of production from bought P1. If you are extracting this is still a valid cost estimate based on the accounting principle of prudence.
Columns K-N show the cost of production from bought manufacturing components. So for example at Tier 4 for the cost of the Tier 3, etc.
At the moment there are very items that can be produced profitable because the market is over supplied. Look for green cells in columns I & M.

Edited by: Krozgor on 24/05/2011 22:56:47 So, does this conclude that even when extracting, export/import costs are offsetting sell prices for produced Tier 4 items?
Has CCP commented on this at all? What reason do we have to do PI at this stage?

Thanks for the work Wyke, very helpfull.

Most other PI goods at all tiers remain on the market below their true production cost, despite problems with new ECUs. Production efficiency experts advise that PI planets should be separated into specialised extraction and production/processing planets.
Conclusion : Price of PI goods will rise further.
from what I see the contrary happened, which would point at oversupplied markets and not enough demand.

That was made in January under the old extraction system. The PI index at eve-tools show the peak was towards the end of March.
The new extraction regime changed everything, it was easier and as a result more people do PI. My position had changed by April (1),(2),(3).
I think another big influence of the current price crash (across the market) is the change made to the sell dialog box, which makes creating sell orders at the buy price very likely instead of performing instant sales.

Originally by: Droxlyn To find the Best profit, you need to be willing to use from multiple previous tiers at the same time. If you lose money making P3s in the process of making p4s from p2s, then just buy the p3s and idle the p3 processors for that batch.
I've made P1 to P4 planets, but they are a tight fit with Advanced CCs and only run the P4 factory 50% of the time (at least for the hardest P4, WWMF and the other hard one.) This planet had a burn time of 36 hours producing 18 P4s. (2 ports, 18 p2 factories, 3 p3 factories, 1 p4 factory)
P2 to P4 planets generally can support 2 to 4 P4 factories depending on the inputs. These planets run for about 30 hours at full tilt. 2 ports, 16 p3 factories, 4 p4 factories. (easy p4), the medium/hards take 2, 18, 2.
On the other extreme of endurance, A P3 to P4 planet can burn for up to 100 hours before exhausting a spaceport's capacity. But almost a full week can be achieved for a P2 to P3 facility.
Anyway, that's my insanity for the day. Don't limit yourself to buying all the same level inputs if more can be made by buying at multiple levels.
Drox
The greatest level of endurance is a full extractor to P3 level planet. If the yields are there for that planet you can run it for a good 22 days before it'll fill up with finished p3 product. At current robotics prices that's around 67 million a month from the stuff (at current buy order prices, so no babysitting your sell orders). All you have to do is log in every couple of days to bring your extractors back online.
It's not the most efficient, but it's by far the easiest way to make enough for your monthly plex.

I have made a program that'll let you determine the costs it takes to make any product depending on how you made it. But I'm flying blind because I don't know if that's what people want and I don't know what else to add to it. ― Vexo M > He turned the drives up to 11 |

I'd forgotten about that, it is was minor fudge to handle the third component of rows 81/82 being a P1. I've changed it now to make all other third components be handled the same as C1 & C2 and made just those two the special cases.
