Now when are you planning on adding the feminine clothing and decent curly hair options?
You made a couple of near-sighted omissions in your curly hair examples friend.
Also, does it really make sense to allow the removal of tattoos once applied? I would think that such a change would logically not take effect until they have been sufficiently podded back to their clone station.

Alright, I can calm down the micro transaction brigade because character customization is flexible, free and unlimited.
Wait, what was that you say? You can buy a Quafe T-Shirt to customize your character for a PLEX? Boy CCP, that sure is flexible, unlimited and FREE. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Quit being an asshat please. You are paying for a HD stream with that PLEX and the shirt is a free gift, much like the Interbus Shuttles and the +3 to everything implants that came with the retail boxes. That they'll let you pay for a RL service with in-game money is pretty cool to begin with anyhow.
So long as I don't have to pay extra for a pole for my cyno alt chicks to dance on I'm cool with the isk for vanity items deal anyhow.

Edited by: Che Biko on 19/03/2011 21:32:29 Hurray!....but..my character put on some weight recently, and it will be disappointing to him he won't get rid of his beer belly no matter how much he works out and doesn't indulge in extra servings of Long-limb Roes. Oh, and I'm gonna be disappointed too if you will have no earrings for guys.
Edit: Kinda the same kind of disappointment that you think most men in eve will not wear long hair.

bytes dont travel the internet for free: your little unlimited 100mbit connection, pff, that is nothing compared to the juice a hd stream with a couple of thousand viewers. I'am more then happy with the pay to see HD and T-shirt deal, if I didnt have the plex for it I'd just watch in abit lower quality live and then watch the highlights on youtube when ccp upload the HD there.
I'll agree with with the 'pierce both my ears!' crowd to. Its quite basic and as been said: multi select tatoos/piercings should create interesting options with little effort. Do you want that tounge piecerd? right ear? left ear? left eyebrow? ok buddy here you go. Tatoos might look abit funky Id imagine if you overlay them but some combo of patterns have the potential for some truly unique styles ^_^

You can have quite a few piercings fitted at once, if you skip the lip piercings you can also add piercings to the chin.
I agree that having tattoos made up of multiple smaller bits would make it more interesting though.

*baffled and amazed*
A lot of people I know, myself included, were pretty bent about the way the CC implementation went down. This is a good step toward repairing some of that damage. I have to say that I really wish you'd just held on to the feature until things like tattoos, visible implants, and better clothing options were already in place. We all thought you were going to microtrans that sort of thing, which was making a lot of people very unhappy (It's not right to take something away from someone and then charge them to get it back... Well, maybe in New-Eden it is, but not in RL.).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the feature release. Is there an ETA for publication? Also, have you made any progress toward boosting the framerate? That's the other problem people were having with the CC as I recall, and if it's an indication of the performance of the Carbon framework then I think you may have cause to be concerned....

Glad to see tattoos are finally coming soon, but I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned a little problem with scars: You can add scars to your character, but what happens if you get podded? Seems your clone would not have those scars you 'earned.' And it seems a bit silly to rush back into the CC just to put them back on.

Yeah, doesn't make sense from a role-play perspective. Hell, your med-clone doesn't even have hair when it wakes up. (Novel: Empyrean Age)

Quote: So, we have this incredible character customization system now, but you can only use it once which seems like kind of a shame, really. It would make more sense to just let you change your character whenever you're in a station. Done.
\o/ I was so happy when I read this. I'm still trying to figure out how in less then a year I went from almost giving up on CCP's communication and their apparent disconnection from their player base to the CSM player poll and all the great dev blogs, fixes, and features that have followed. Keep it coming CCP.
Also, to all the people worried about mind games with changing character portraits: stop whining. If anything, aren't such things MORE in the "sandbox" spirit of the game? Last time I checked EVE is still full of pirates, scammers, and thieves, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
One thought I had: I like that it saves the last pose your character was in, but going one step further, it might be nice to be able to save (locally) a few character "states" so you could go back between a few looks without having to recreate them each time.

Wow - Great idea/job CCP devs!
I really like the idea of "customization" - small thing changes not the facial structure. Very cool.
and its FREE! : ) Even cooler. Suprised and delighted!
Can't wait to see what the creative folk at CCP come up with next for Incarna.
Cheers!

This is what it's all about...giving us a little of what we want. This and Little Things have restored my faith in CCP. (The apparent death of MT helps too.) I always knew that more character creation content would be coming (there's only 5 pairs of pants in the whole galaxy?) but will player-created content be next? I'm torn on that: Yay for freedom on that one, but boo for furry costumes and deely boppers.
Either way, I'm happy with the direction things are taking in EVE.
Now, where can a Gallente girl find some transparent clothing?

We all know CCP have put a lot of development into Character Creation and in it's present form of a one-time-only mode most players simply wouldn't have gotten to appreciate it.
Thank you CCP for this change. The players asked and you delivered! This will give players more time to use the new character engine over time instead of having to learn it all in one session.

Wrong question. What you SHOULD be asking is if you can do that AT ALL.
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: It's not even an option. They don't have it implimented on sisi as far as I can tell.

Isk cost? Does it cost you thousands of dollars IRL to change your hair to green and poke a bunch of metal crap in your ears?

(no seriously, caching portraits in local is bad enough, would like to be able to hide them completely)
This is something I am hoping can happen as well - used to rely on the cached portraits as a signifier it was someone I knew in system and then could sort from there, now it's all this reading and watching watchlists.

Yes it can, especially if you are celebrity status and having it done in a fancy, trendy shop. Just ask any rock star, celebrity, or politician.
And since we ARE the rock stars, celebrities, politicians of New Eden it wouldn't be that out of line.
Remember, just because you chose to look like a playground punk you are still considered to be the high tech equivalent of a demigod and handle millions (if not billions)of ISK daily. Fame has a price tag.
Regardless, it's still nice to see customization options available to this extent for free. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

All great stuff and thank you CCP for allowing us to modify the portraits at will and for free. Makes me wonder if any other MMO allows this without some charge.
Please consider giving us the ability to add multiple scars and tattoos.
I understand we will not be able to do a complete sculpting redo on our characters but what happens to those accounts that already have a complete redo available? Will that complete redo still be available when this goes live?

Two quick questions:
Firstly, could we get confirmation that those characters still flagged for recustomisation from the initial deployment will remain flagged for full sculpting and skin level customisation?
Secondly, has anyone got images from Sisi of the other people for whom tatoos are really important, to the point that it was a .sig trope for a long while (ie the Gallente). --
