What I use and why I like/don't like them.
Boss Rook Likes: Ship engagement range, great damage Dislikes: People run from it. Worthless for station games.
Crystal Siege Merlin Likes: People want to engage you, amazing tank Dislikes: lack of a web means unless you bait tank well they will disengage.
100mn Tengu Likes: Everything. Dislikes: People from 10 jumps in every direction will come try to kill you.
Brawler Sliepner Likes: Good damage, good BURST tank. Dislikes: Mostly used inside scram/neut range. This makes me cry.
Nano Dual Web Drake Likes: Decent engagement profile, decent damage, great range. Dislikes: Lack of decent nueting power. Looks like a waffle, and its a drake.
Nano Cane Likes: Great nueting power, uses guns so can tear through frigates on approach Dislikes: No web, fall off damage makes me cry.
So all in all, my favorite is of course the 100mn tengu.
Still on my list to try: Vagabond/Cynabal/Crystal Siege Maelstrom

Edited by: JC Anderson on 15/04/2011 14:15:21 The 100mn Tengu is NOT an easy ship to fly. ;) So I would advise the OP doesn't just jump into one of those right off the bat to test it out in pvp. Learn a ship like that on the test server instead and you won't have to worry about the isk loss as you would on Tranq.

Edited by: NoLimit Soldier on 15/04/2011 15:35:46 Not really much to elaborate on. You throw a 100mn afterburner on your tengu for GTFO/Scram immunity. It eliminates one of the biggest weaknesses of the tengu (as no drones/neuts means a decent frig was your worst enemy as it could hold you long enough for the big boys to come)
Watch drake 3.0 if you want to see how to use it. As for build the standard is dead space LSB + rigor/flare.
I personally went pith medium and wanted a 7th mid for pith x EM and run 4xCNBCU instead of flare/rigs (used resists/operation solid rigs instead) but mine is probably over priced and WAY over tanked (both for damage and neuts) but if you find your in neut range you are doing it wrong.
**AS STATED ABOVE, DO NOT FLY THIS** Its expensive and it is dangerous. Fly something cheap and more forgiving.

100mn ab tengu is a difficult beast to fly due to its "slow" feel of agility and accelleration.
Picking targets and having good intel is crucial and so isnt all as great for solo.
a small group of nano/oversized AB tengus works amazingly well against even much larger gangs, and thats why its reputation has made it to the forums.
I dont like it at all.
Pure solo, Cynabal vaga, nano shield tanked versions of harb/cyclone/cane/bc are decent.
solo tends to be about GTFO ability and how fast you can turn things around.
If you dont mind replacing your ship alot, any cruiser or BC is good tbh, depends how much you like to win vs how much you like to loose, and how ragey you get when you do loose
Meep Meep!

Sorry to bum you out but you have the understand the dangers, say you are 15km away from a target at a gate and a blob jumps in. You hit your 100mn AB...not realizing you are FACING them.
You just lost your billion+ isk ship. If you don't know why you REALLY REALLY shouldn't fly one.

Yes but there is a huge debate going on right now if they are worth much as most of what they can do a cruiser can do better.
I do love my active tank jaguar though. I would rather use an active tanked merlin though as when they see a merlin they don't call for backup. I'd wait for a wolf/taranis/ishkur pilot to comment though as those are the kill it and run ships. The jag is the tank of the pair.

Starting to feel like I'm being *****d.
Standard MSB merlin with crystals and siege link alt. You basically spend over a billion and use 2 accounts to make a 2 MIL frigate something stupid. Tanks about 250-300 dps omni while pushing a little over 100 dps. Bait tanking consists of allowing them to scrap/damage armor and tanking them at ~15% shields. They think they are going to win at the last second and will continue to push. You keep repping to 100% they will disengage as soon as they realize they are losing.
**Don't engage anything bigger than a frigate unless you are just heavy tackle.

I swear by my Jaguar. In a 1v1 against any other frigate (barring interceptors), an active tanked Jaguar (using a Pith B-Type Small Shield Booster) is a force to be reckoned with. If you stay in Nos range (and you should have a Nos) and run an afterburner, you can permarun the booster, AB, and scram. The only problem you will have is that anything that can maintain some speed may outrun you.
Oh, and the tank is beast. ***** ***** ***** *****

Oh I agree whole heartily and I love the jag I just can't ever find 1vs1's against other frigates with it. That is the problem with being top of class (or close if you fly the ishkur) people know about it.

Confirming Maud has jumped me in a solo Cynabal, danger will robinson!
I dont like BC's solo because they take too long to lock a target, give me a Wolf anyday, having said that, I have been alpha ed in fast locking hurricanes parked above my station before, rig and fit for lock speed.
