I never understood the need to "target" a friendly in your fleet who is relying on you for logistical support. It is not like a fleet mate is going to actively resist your attempt to initiate a lock to enable remote reps etc..

+1 for smoother game play that wouldn't effect ECM and actually makes sense in a "space sim" game.
Out of the many inconsistencies in this game this one is just a mind blaster.
Your friendly fleet members give you their signature/id/access codes/(RP here)so you as a fellow fleet member/corp member can instantly target "friendlies"
In real life this is the case, its not like, oh hey is that abrams tank down below me which is a few miles away from that enemy tank a friendly as well?? guess I'll have to target lock it to do any decision making...
Inc noobs who think it is fine just because it's already in the game... and for the griefers it just makes turning on your allies that much faster.

I think everything should be instant targeted. But then EvE has too many absolute negative effects to make that truly viable.

So that help isn't instantly available and so that damps have more valueà
It's not that people aren't resisting ù it's that it provides a time buffer and a point of attack that enemies can exploit if they bring the right stuff. More tactical options are always a good thing (even if they're, strictly speaking, not good for you specifically). ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

You have to be kidding. Logistics are not broken. Using the lock time to your advantage is a necessary mechanic when fighting fleets with proper numbers of logistics. Your suggestion would result in fewer losses due to logi pilots not being able to keep up with broadcasts, which is a bad thing.

So your argument isn't that it doesn't make sense, but more that it may end up costing you kills? Got it.
Another way to look at it, is that with more efficient targeting for logistics, it can reduce the number needed. This would allow a logistics ship to be changed out for something that adds more versatility, like an additional tackler or ecm boat.

That would mean you had to make fewer sacrifices and trade-offs. This is not a good thing. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Or, it means you can add greater diversity and allow for utility that normally has to be shelved due to the need for excess logistics.
True, the mindless and simple way to make use of the extra ship slots is to just add damage. The hope is that more exotic options are pursued.
