5 named launcher t2 10 ab, t2 med shield booster, tr2 sensor booster, and cap recharger ( can swap this for a hardener in if needed) 2 nanofiber internal structure I
I use it as speed rigged long distance 682m/s, 110km lock and 102km range on heavies.
Fly this setup for over 1 year, did not lose it yet :) and do still sometimes lvl 3 missions in it and sometime 3/10 and 4/10 complexes.
Get on range as fast as you can works good against npc's

Well I did Angel Extravaganza lvl 3 yesterday and i used all heavies from 65km. I have a max velocity of 562m/s so i kept distance and they poped long before they even got to 35km. Even the two spider drones at the last stage didn't last to a barrage of heavies and 4 light drones.
I think heavies also go further than lights, but can't remember...

Assault launchers are undisputibly better than heavies at killing frigates, and that's what he asked, not IF you could kill frigates with heavies, because you can, but not half as well as assaults.

I didnt think I was a noob until I tried to fit this, with engineering skills maxed out I could only fit the assaults and the 1600mm plate maxing out my P/G. I couldn't fit any mid slot mods and the ballistic control. Did you just make that set up up cos it looked good on paper or have you actually got it fitted??

I've taken down an Extinguisher with this setup, and 6x cruisers, works great, choose your battles and stay away from warp scrambling rats. :}
High 5 Heavy Limos
Mid 1 Clarity ward shield booster 2 Ballistic shield hardeners 1 Thermal hardener, named
Low 1 Ballistic 1 Co processor
Great for ratting guristas, just change Hardeners as per rat types, have fun.

Use MWD to keep range and die vs. anything that can't be webbed... I have killed two interceptors (two seperate 1vs1's) and won both (I was attacked both times)...
how or what is the Cap recharge module of choice? that's 5 medium slots isn't it?
I am trying to get this set up working for PvP and Kill missions.
I had to put in 2 co processors just to get most of it to work. But still not sure how to get my capacitor recharge to work.

Use best named or T2 if you want best results. Its cheap and will flat tear up an intercepter/AF.

PvP Mid-range (100km) fleet support vs frigates/cruisers: H: 5 heavy launchers M: tango, sensor booster, 2 caps L: 400mm plate, med armor rep
for tango, either use 20km disruptor or 10mn AB/MWD of your choice.
Just a note, this setup is also good for running level 3 agents even with 8 vs 1.

If your trying to beat anything smaller than you use assults, if your trying to take something biggI hit more If I stop, shoot one ship once then get them all facing me. This way they're less likely to dodge my missiles as long as they don't get within thier orbiting range. |

Verdict on Caracal - Very good cruiser and it does maximum damage at all its range. Just keep distance from rats, switch on booster as needed, and let rip. Job done.
I have all the new skills at Level 4 but have recently put my beloved Caracal in storage cause I find Heavies can't hit anything. It worked well with 5 Assault Launchers and a Web but getting close enough to use the Web sort of defeats the point in my opinion. How well does the Target Painter work? That may be the way to go.

It was only a joke setup but it all fits:
5 RL 2s = 4pg x 5 = 20PG MWd = 150PG 2 web = 2PG 1 scram = 1PG 1600mm = 500pg ballistic = 1PG
total = 674
base PG of the caracal is 600 X 1.25 =750
Again, this was just only a joke setup ;)

Surely a bunch of sensor boosters would help you get the lock in time - but then this is probably the wrong ship for fast locking?

That¦s the effect of the npc¦s mwd increasing their sig radius. Take a look at the Missile Damage formula and you will see the painter does exactly what the description says, increasing the damage by 25%. But if the sig radius difference is big, the difference of one painter is too small to give an significant improvement.
One painter is good for torps to shoot bc, for cms to shoot cruisers and for heavies to shoot destroyers and for light missiles to shoot assault frigs and interceptors (the last one is really sad). When the sig radius difference is bigger you need multiple painters to see an effect.

this can't pre right target painters dont increase damage that much! never!
i wish it would, then all my problems would be solved.
ccp once said that target painters are designed for turret users and not for missiles
i tested tp and they aint effecting it at all when i tested them

Here is how i use my cally.
4x Hv launchers (named if you really want) 10mn Mwd Sensor booster Medium cap battery Cap recharger
To lows what ever you want (ballistic control system for example)
Whole purpose of this ship is to snipe from 80km and when someone comes near use mwd to run or warp away. Used this to blast rats and some cruisers (maller and thorax).
Requires some skills before can fit all that stuff. And if someone decides to run laugh at him .

My current NPC setup (guristas/sansha):
HI: 3x assault launcher, 2x malkuth heavy MI: 10mn AB II, large shield extender, thermal amp, med shiled booster LO: 2x PDS
Has 3.2k shields with my skills, 40km range on light missiles. I mostly use the AB always on and keep range at 40km, wasting anything that comes into range.
I actualy do not need the booster, so maybe I change it and the amp for therm/kin hardeners. ------------------------------

I advanced to level 3 missions, this is my Caracal setup:
HI: 4x arbalest assault launcher, 1 advanced limos assault launcher (I did not get an arbie for reasonable price) MED: 10MN AB II, large shield extender II, hardener, med shield booster LO: PDS I, Shield power relay
I can do an Angel Extravaganza in about 2 hours. I have crap missile skills, it will only get better :-) I did not get the Black Market Hub or Spy Stash missions which I heard are the hardest. I have most problems with Duo of Death, takes 3 warp outs (sentries).

I've been using it for weeks now, and its 100% safe against 0.0 rats as long as you are careful not to take on more than you can chew, and know when you run. The biggest rats i kill are 1mil, although i don't take on anything with longer range than me :) Mainly you should engage frigs & cruisers, with the occasional small BS.
hi: 5 x heavies
med: 1 x med shield booster 2, 1 x named 10mn MWD, 2 x named cap chargers
low: 1x good overdrive & 1 x named signal amp.
yes i know the mods cost a lot more than the ship itself, but if you look after it, it looks after you. (you get most of the good mods as loot anyway after a week or so)
Just remember that you are 100% specialist, engage at long range and use the MWD to stay there, you shouldn't take any hits.

my pvp gate camping and friend support is:
1 small remote armor repair (1 small remote hull repair (i think its exist but im not sure...i think i ave seen one long time ago but...who knows ^^) if you can find one...i personaly dont :() 1 whatever turret you can find (just to b on the kill mail) 1 med nosf 1 small or med energy neutralyser

1) 4 multi spectral jammer + a sensor booster 2) 5 multi spectral jammer 3) if you can fit multi named or tech 2 its great cause you can jam freakin galente ship low slot
