Noob question here I guess. How exactly does escrow work? How can I sell items through escrow? How is with visibility? Does a buyer need to come to the station where item is located?
Thanks & cheers,
Dilletti.

Edited by: Braaage on 16/03/2005 16:44:21 Escrow is activated by clicking the mission button in a station and selecting Escrow.
To put items on escrow you can be anywhere and don't even have to be in the same stations as the items your putting on, so long as they are visible in your station hangar (u can't enter items on escrow that are in containers).
People collecting the items will have to come to the station to collect it but can buy from anywhere where your escrow is visible.
Escrow holds a limited number of items in the top view which everyone anywhere (with a station with a mission button) can see. The items are dropped down a level (into region view) once the top galaxy wide view has a new item placed on it (kinda of a first in first out, last in last out). Then those in regional are pushed down into solarsystem and eventually station view.
You can enter 2 types of Escrow, one to a particular player or to everyone. The second tab on the escrow screen allows you to put items into escrow. If you want to sell an item to a particular player (or maybe transfer to another alt) then you specify that players name in the relevant box. If you want to sell to everyone simply leave that name blank.
To see escrows sent to a named person, that person used to have to come pretty close to the selling point or he wouldn't be able to see the escrow. I believe that has been largely fixed as named ones to me I haven't had a problem seeing lately from a distance. ___________________________________________ http://www.eve-tutor.com

You can buy from anywhere on escrow, and the item appears into your assets. Likewise you can sell anything from your assets onto escrow.
This way you can have one of your alts pick up something for you (escrow to alt, have alt pickup the item, then carry back to your station and escrow back).
Open the mission window, click on enter items into escrow, choose a station and select the item you want, you can select more than one item with control key. The other stuff is self explanatory, base price is an interesting feature, I use it a lot to check the value of an item I don't know^^.

On the subject of escrow. What is 'Market Escrow' deductions I see in my wallet transaction history. I have not put anything 'on escrow' but I have sold items on the market. When I logged in today I noticed that I had about 40K in 'Market Escrow' deductions and I have no clue what these charges are coming from.
Thanks Wootfindle (aka Capt. Noob)

The word "escrow" itself means to give cash or items to someone for safekeeping till a transaction is made.
Market Escrow is, I think, when you place a buy order on the market, since you're kinda promising to buy something, money is taken from your wallet and placed in "escrow" to guarantee that the seller will be paid when he arrives with the items you wanted.
The trade skills determine how much, 100% with no skills, and less with. Someone with high skill, could, for example, only have 40 mil in his wallet but still be able to place 2 buy orders, one for 30 mil in tritanium, and one for 30 mil in pyerite. Someone without skill would only be able to place the order for tritanium.

uhm...i think the 'transactions' records showing only "market escrow" once used to show who bought what, except for some reason they nerfed that option in Exodus. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |
