Is it possible to have an additional account on the same CD key? And would switching between 2 accounts reset my settings like bookmarks and such ?
Thank you for answering :-)

Judging by the fact that your account login (the web one you use to manage your account and billing etc) uses the same credentials as the game login I'd say "no".
I suppose that if this were possible then friends could club together and buy one retail copy and each play the game individually.
I must say that if it wasn't for the cost of buying another copy of the game I'd be tempted to pay the monthly fee and run 2 copies myself.
A suggestion that might solve the friends "sharing" problem would be to only allow the joined accounts to run from one IP address, for example on a home network with 2 or more PCs using NAT. Ok, there are situations where this wouldn't work well but perhaps it generates deserved revenue for CCP and at the same time keeps the High St. retailers happy.

No to run 2 characters simultaneously (and have them train skills at the same time) those characters need to be on different accounts. And, a CD-Key is only able to create 1 account. So if you wanted to have 2 playing characters, who can train, be active on seperate (or the same!) computer you would need an additional CD-Key.
They would have different bookmarks, buddy lists, etc ....

I mean ok not 2 pc at the same time and not 2 Active Chars at the same time BUT WHY THE HELL I ONLY CAN SKILL WITH ONE OF THEM??? Maybe someone like to play with 2 Accs (1 Pirate the other Miner or sth like that) so this wouldnt effect the game negative maybe more Positiv cause you meet many new faces in Space ;)....
And atm the Option to Create more than 1 Char is not really nessasary.

Skill training is currently set up for 1 character at a time per account. If you'd like to see one of the ongoing debates on this subject head on over to http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=19474 where a discussion is currently taking place. --------------------------------------------------

I've been doing some experimenting with this lately, as I would like to have a mule/grunt character that could (for instance) drop mine in a probe while I'm out in an indy with him (running both characters at the same time on two different computers).
If the CCP server detects multiple logins from DIFFERENT IP addresses, then it will kick the oldest session and give you an error message. HOWEVER, multiple sessions FROM THE SAME IP will go through at least the authentication phase. In my case, I have cable (Comcast) and the 5 IP plan, and Comcast assigns IPs based on the MAC address of the computer. If one of the computers is running XP, it's an easy matter to spoof the MAC address of one computer (putting in the address of the OTHER computer you're running EVE on) and getting 2 computers with the same IP address. Although the connection is generally unstable, I have been able to trade items between characters. Usually though, one of the connections (most of the time the newest session) will drop when doing things like jumping, enter/exit stations, and warping.
I'll continue working on this and see if I can find some kind of solution. This should be an option OFFERED by CCP, as I don't mind paying. But if you're gonna give me 3 accounts, I should be able to use them as I see fit.

Actually, trust me on this, the minute you activate any of the characters, it will kick you off, even if using just 1 IP/CPU/What-have-you. It's just the way the game is.
Think about it this way from a business standpoint. If you have an AOL/MSN/Earthlink/Local ISP account, you are normally limited to 1 computer dialed in and logged on at a time. This cuts down on costs for bandwidth/phone lines, and lets you serve MORE paying customers from the same resources. That's the way this needs to be looked at. 1 Account, 1 active character at a time. [active defined as 1 character learning skills/1 character logged in.] --------------------------------------------------

Ok... well here's a question then... Why doesn't CCP look at selling an "Additional" CD-key at a discounted rate (10 bucks maybe?) to people who are already paying customers? I mean if I had the opportunity to make and additional 13 bucks a month from active customers and all I had to do was e-mail a CDkey? Please... I have a LAN set up at home and I really enjoy playing and I have 2 sons (12 and 10) that also would like to play. I don't mind paying the additional subscriptions per month but I sure as hell am not going to pay an additional 80 dollars to buy 2 more CD keys from a retail box when the CD medium that I have now works perfectly fine to install the game with on their computers.
CCP? Polaris? anyone? Here is a chance to rake in more of that much needed monthly RECURRING income... x2 from me and think of how many others LIKE me MUST be out there... I know the argument can exist that people will pirate the CD's, buying the keys and then selling them... okay simple solution, make the additional key(s) tie into the same billing account as the parent CD key, problem solved...
