What gives with these spawns? Why dont I have the ability to instantly disapear, I mean warp off. Last night was droping a 9.5mil bounty serpentis officer. Was 1x officer, 3x 500k bs, 2x 110k cruisers, and a hand full of intys.
We droped the inties and the cruisers, then started in on the officer. Half way into armor it disapears from system. Thats abit borked if you ask me. Anyone else have similiar situation, and how to prevent this? Can you warp scramble the officer?

I had a cruiser warp out on me today... I killed its escort, like I usually do, and the cruiser ran like a little *****. _______________________________________________

Yes defo. First time I came across an officer spawn I treated it like a roast dinner and left my favourite bits for last. Only I didn't realise they dropped all the good stuff and it warped off. So, ALWAYS KILL THE BIG GUY FIRST.

They often reappear at another belt in the same system when they run, so keep hunting. :)
This was true of a 6mil bs spawn I ran across a few weeks ago, though not of an 85k hauler spawn I found last night :'( Loyalty, Integrity, Honour. |

I wish that were true. I was siting in system for about 2 hours watching this officer spawn with a watering mouth and empty pockets. Finaly gathered couple battleships to take downt he spawn ( the officer had jumped belts 2 times while I waited for reinforcements). So next time ignore everything untill the officer is dead? I called out the frigs as primary because interceptors scare my harpy. Was that wrong? The officer lost his tacklers and got into armour so he ran away to a system far far away? I search the belts for about 30 minutes (only a few of them ). Also had my eye on scanner. Looked like the officer called no joy and bailed from system.
Man oh man, what I dont even wana know what kinda mods we missed out on!

You can kill frigs first. I always kill ceptors first myself in case I need to get out myself. Just leave cruisers and other bses and start killing officer. I have never lost officer that way.

When ya engage: small guns/drones on the ceptors while pointing your big guns at the officer. Will do. ----

Maybe it depends on which officer, but if its Chelms... If you try to kill the Officer 1st... You will get pwned!
Kill the support 1st.

I've only had once officer despawn on me. We spent ages killing the support of a 10m Bloodraider officer (Dracula or something) in PVP fit ships only to have the support respawn. We then killed the support only for the spawn to dissapear, luckily it just moved belts.

I only noticed recently that the support for each officer varies during each respawn.
For example. I killed Gotan Kreiss when he had an escort of 2 x Arch Angel Generals, 6 x Arch Angel Legionnaires and 4 x Arch Angel impalers.
Several days later I found him with 3/4 x Arch Angel Seraphims, 2 x Arch Angels and 3 x Angel Raiders.
As said before - ALWAYS kill the Officer first or try and leave it so that there is only a Cruiser escort and he/she will probably not jump.

yup ive had this problem ALOT
in one week of ratting in belts i was having basically every other spawn vanish on me during combat
according to the GMs when i petitioned "he NPCs have been changed some time ago to warp out if they think theyŚre in deep trouble and this happens quite often actually. You should be able to warpscramble the bigger ones to make sure they stay put while you crush them though... :)"
but how many people NPC with warp scramblers? and since when is warping totally instant?

Never seen an officer spawn as of yet (damn you lower Syndicate!), but just wondering...
They're not soloable are they (without ninja killing it and re-warps)? --

Kill the support 1st.
That depends on the support... I found chelm with just 1 Overlord (1M) + a bunch of frigs/cruisers. Needless to say it was a walk in the park (although he repairs alot). But the typical spawn with 3 Overlords is impossible to solo without a really expensive setup unless you take out part of the support first.
On topic... This should give you all the info you need. And note that it's 19 months old. To highlight the point;
Originally by: Mr uber TomB NPCs will also sometimes warp out to flee from player attacks. Warp scrambling an NPC will of course become an option.

Kill him first. The escort is there to ensure his safety, right? Well if I was flying with an escort and they got blown up, I'd sure as hell warp. It makes sense..

the whole point of NPC warping out is idiotic. What does it bring in to the game except irritation moments.
those spawns are enought rare as they are ( never got them ), to see them dissapear when u finily get them make u turn off the EVE.

Edited by: Deathsoul on 05/11/2005 15:36:54 All officer spavns can be soloed, its just a matter of fitting and skills.
And yes, if you kill officers support its more than most likely he warps out and dissapear.
