Yes. Hopefully future beta invite. And possibly something else that would require knowledge about WoDO to understand and I am not interested in explaining here. Its all just speculation anyway, but I cannot see what else could "future CCP products" be referring to. And you talk about vague? Try looking for official info about WoD..
The mistery code is a placeholder and I bet nobody CCP knows what to do with it. They'll pull it when they feel it fits as a marketing gimmick.
It may surface as a 60 days timecode for WoD or whatever, depending on how cehap/generous they feel... CCP Unifex: -á"lurking single players (...)-áare the majority of characters on Tranquility"
...And so now we know why CCP hasn't done anything for soloers since Apochrypha. |

I bought the collectors edition mainly for the symphony, but I am also eager to get my hands on the book and the game. As for the rifter, well, I think I might put it for use and not just on the table. I might even occasionally paraphrase some rods from certain parody song:
I'm with a Rifter, doing reports and ****.
Or not.
All in all, I am looking forward to the Collector's Edition. |

Had a look. Noticed for CCP 150 Euro equals 150 USD. Decided to not support such a rip-off, even if I could get it from US for 150 USD.
Aside from that, 50% of the stuff would just gather DUST anyway.
Well, perhaps I get luckier if EVE makes it through the second decade...

I was overjoyed when the Collectors Edition was announced. To me there's something special about having physical items of something you love. And having them displayed, people will ask about them and I will have an excuse to go full eve fanboy mode and promote this awesome game. I didn't care about the pricetag to be honest, for me it was my way of supporting CCP even more and I'm okay with that. As for the items, I don't get all the moaning and whining about them... In almost all packages and collectors edition things by different companies, there will always be some things that make you go, meh... and some that will make you throw money at your screen. So for me, i'm looking forward to all the items, yes including the Danger Game. Only part I won't be able to enjoy are the DUST redeemables since i don't own a PS3.
so TL;DR Pricetag and love for EVE and CCP as a company: Invaluable. I hope we get the chance to buy more things like this i the future. |

Ive pre-ordered this for reasons like:
- I want to have it. Its collectors after all. - book can gather dust in my shelf. its collectors book - USB rifter - gather dust on my table :) - ingame items - yeah ill get hunted more by my corpmates. Cool! - Dangergame - I can actually speak english so yeah, not a problem - CD absolute blast
easy enough, I dont drink, smoke or do anything that would eat up my cash. So why not? I just like the feeling of having it.

Here are my thoughts on the physical items in teh collectors set:
Rifter USB Hub: Love it. It looks great, USB ports are well disguised.. Good stuff. But Damn, the USB cord to connect to the computer is 9 inches long! With the Rifter sitting 3 inches off the ground, that leaves 6 inches of cord to go from my desktop, down to my CPU... Hell I can;t even set my rifter on top of my computer and plug it in. :( will have to buy a USB extension, I guess. :( It would be awesome if I could plug it in and use it.
Art Book. I like this better than I thought. The art is great, but the real joy is seeing the stages that CCP has gone through. I like the essays at the end of each chapter. Love the book.
Music CD. This is awesome! I've already ripped it to my MP3 player and listen to it when I walk to/from work (3-4 miles) It is exactly the kind of Music I listen to. (Hearts of Space, Tangerine Dream, Biran Eno, etc) Love the Music.
Danger Game. I was underwhelmed by it... Then I read the rules... I haven;t played it yet. SO I am going to reserve judgement until I get some friends over and we get good and drunk to play it.
Overall, I like the stuff. The in game items.. Bleh. Gonna throw the stuff on teh market at an unreasonable price and get lucky some day.
Thanks CCP. |

TBH, I think what happened with the Rifter was that the MFG just used the generic cable that comes with their other USB hubs. I mean, seriously, most USB hubs ship with that same 6 or 9" cord. Works fine with my laptop, and it's not exactly "expensive" (or difficult) to get a longer cable for a desktop.
I was pleasantly surprised by the other ingame swag that they didn't talk about -> Opening Night tickets to some of the better known videos (Clear Skies, Day of Darkness...) and AT stuff. Nearly ruined my keyboard after seeing some of the other items.
Danger Game looks like it'll be fun, and the book is awesome (CCP --> WTB other books you talked about @ fanfest), not to mention the CD and mystery code and gold pod ... One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Poster! What a great idea... I bought the cruiser posters from EON before it went away. I have them hanging up in my classroom that I use to teach Science Fiction / Fantasy Literature.
Would love any "official" eve Poster... Too late now though.
When I finally decided to buy a mug from the EVE store, it closed. :(

Technically, if you sell all the in-game items on the Market, and you have the PLEX from the Mystery Code as well, you should get about a year of game time out of it, if you didn't want the stuff.

Much as I wanted to, I could not get excited about spending $150 for it.
I really wanted the USB Rifter, the EVE symphony CD and the tatoos. Book would be nice but after a look through or two, it would gather dust. Now, an EVE coffee mug would be used daily. A part of me was nagging away that if I did not buy the Collector's Edition, later on CCP would release something through the mystery code and I would be kicking myself.
While I have not received the box yet, I can not comment on the contents.
And not a slight at the price, but I have spent much more on frivolous things in my past without blinking an eye so why not a game I've been involved with for year...? |

I purchased the collectors edition because I love this game and its the best way for me to support CCP. Mine arrived the 18th, same as Sindel pellion. Everything was perfect except that my book's protective sleeve was cut for some unknown reason (support ticket pending with musterbrand). The Rifter is pretty nice, it's level of detail is high. The board game is a lot of fun. The book and It's content is my favorite piece. A lot of people think its just an artbook but it isn't. It's more like a history book with nice photos. Seriously. The music cd I haven't listened to yet (but will soon!) and digital content is a nice addition, especially with the reveal of the mystery code content. Be warned, there is a TON of digital content(ask for details).
If anyone is wondering, upon entering the mystery code you will receive the Plex gift. The other content will come later. All that said, this is the perfect gift for any Eve fan. If not for my defect with the book, I would be 100% satisfied. |

Completely satisfied with everything in the CE. Waiting on the next round of Mystery Code items to be announced. :)
I have to admit, though... when I found the unexpected "free alt", the thought "Jovian Player Race?!" ran through my head, and in hindsight, I'm kind of glad I left disappointed. Meh... I have a Caldari alt, now. That moment when you realize the crazy lady with all the cats was right... |

Next mystery code release:
Use the CE 60 day new char code in unison with this Mystery Code to unlock a unique Collectors Edition only Jove race... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

Surprisingly enough, I would actually NOT support that. If CCP was going to let people play as Jovians, it should be gifted to people with high forum, community, and in-game participation. People like Chribba, NTRabbit, and others along those lines should be the ones who get it. A**holes like me would just use that kind of power for unspeakable evil, in lowsec pirate gangs... and Eidolon PvP just wouldn't be fun unless I could fight other Eidolons. Yeah the non AU$ part was annoying, but I judged it worth it anyway. I, like a previous poster, have spent more on utterly more frivolous items or things that don't last more than a short while/evening.
I don't think it's too much to pay for some nice items and what is, to me, a way to connect to a game that has been running for a long time and with a long history I have missed out on. When Australia Post manage to finally deliver the thing, assuming I haven't died of old age, I am excited to be able to relive some of EVE history - playing the Danger Game, having a beautiful art book, having some fun in-game, pointless items that never-the-less refer to some important events and historical happenings in the EVE universe. The extra bonus ship/s, character image enhancements etc are all fun, and add to my immersion in the game.
When it gets here. Gentlemen you can't fight in here, this is the War Room! |
