Tally Ho all!
I've been having a weird issue on occasion when doing level 2 and 3 security missions. My alignment/spool up times for warp seem to take a lot longer when in combat. Is that normal? I didn't see any warp disruptor, web or scrambler debuff on my ship. It's confusing the heck out of me. sometimes I can warp out of a hot spot in a few seconds in my Harbinger and other times I'm getting pounded for up to 30 seconds, watching that little warp alignment bar spool up . Any know what causes that? Thanks all! |

Yup. Collision spheres. You're bouncing on a nearby object, attempting to realign, and bouncing again. The best thing you can do is to stop your ship (ctrl-space), power away from whatever you're next to, and try again. Note that it's entirely possible to bounce on an acceleration gate while trying to warp if you happen to be too close to it. |

I can normally tell when I'm colliding with something cause my speed indicator keeps fluctuating and sometimes the text "warp" wont even show up. But most of the time on these missions, the bar isn't fluctuating at all and the ship isn't doing the "collision dance". I'm thinking it may be a graphics or connection issue cause it seems to happen when when I'm in more intense fire fights. Thank you for your response though Zhilia Mann |

I was gonna suggest train up Spaceship Command for increased agility along with some Navigation skills but if the issue is intermittent then it could very well be your computer / game settings or heaven forbid, your ISP.
Might wanna change your graphics settings in the Esc menu towards the more performance option.

The acceleration/speed indicator below the capacitor meter is not a accurate indication of how close you are to entering warp, it just shows if you are at the 75% of maximum speed which is needed to enter warp, it's does not slow how aligned you are towards the target you are trying to warp to.
If you are using afterburner or mwd and moving in the opposite direction of where you are trying to warp to, it's going to take a long time to align the ship, and you will probably reach 75% before the ship is aligned. ^ what he said. E.g. Recon3 mwd battleship takes a visibly long align at the outbound gate when speeding there because of deceleration. |

Thank you all very much! I didn't know that 75% speed was a requirement for warp. The last time I got mauled while trying to warp out, I was indeed using an afterburner in the wrong direction. I was about 90 degrees off of alignment when I gave the command for warp. And I think my computer may have been overheating which could have caused some lag. End result was my fully armed tanking Harbinger being destroyed after trying to align for over 30 seconds (initiated warp with over 50% armor remaining and armor repairer at work and level 5 spaceship command).
I'll be more mindful of my speed and computer temp when running missions in the future. Thanks again! |

If you've got MWD or afterburner on and you HAVE to warp to save the ship, the best thing to do is turn off the module, hit stop ship and let your speed fall as much as possible before hitting the warp button. It will improve your overall align time. If you have the time, you should wait until lthe mod goes off before aligning or intiating warp. Depending on the exact angle of warp, it's probably still less time than panic warping and fighting against the speed and mass effects. Bokononist

Stopping the ship is not a good idea, it will increase the damage you take. It may or may not be a good idea to turn of mwd or ab, but it depends on how much of the damage you can speed tank and how much it will increase the align time to keep running the propulsion mod.
If you stop the ship with align time is zero, non moving ships are always perfectly aligned, and the time it takes to warp out is always the time it takes to accelerate to 75% speed. I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous. |

When the MWD or afterburner is engaged and you hit stop ship, you don't stop immediately. The goal here is to have your speed drop as fast as possible below your ship's normal top speed. The goal is not to come to a stop.
If you're at the point where you have to warp or your not going to make it out, you're better off improving your align time than hoping your tank holds. Bokononist

One thing is align right away before mod goes off.
Only once mod is off and you are below normal top speed do you hit warp.
Don't wait to start aligning!
It's best to hit warp right as you drop below your normal top speed so you don't have to wait for speed to rebuild but don't waste time taking longer to align due to the prop mod. |
