I know it's possible to fit some cruisers with a set up to tank sentries for a while, but I'd like to know whether I can do this in a Moa, what set-up I would need, and how long i could tank them for.
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Eagle32 on 21/01/2006 11:16:59 I tried it a little while ago with most shield skills at level 3/4 and I got about 30s (I don't have the worlds greatest cap skills either and I'm sub 10mill total sp). I actually think it might have been pre-rmr now I'm thinking about it. Which should certainly make it easier to fit now, could probably actually use medium guns.
I really can't remember what I had fitted. It would have been something along the lines of -
150's + assualt launchers of some sort in the highs because I had no power left.
Mids I'm thinking were 2x large shield extenders an invuln field and an em ward.
Lows were pds x4 or maybe 2x pds + 2x wcs because if I got scrambled trying that crap I'd die about 10s after those 30s were up.
actually my memory is so bad you can probably just ignore most of what i say :p
Just go for as much resistance/shield hps as you can get to give you the greatest amout of soak possible. The damage comes to fast to bother with any kind of boost setup. Then just fit whatever else you can. You'll just have to try combinations to see what's best.
Make sure your aligned to where you want to jump and moving at full speed to exit quickly as well.

Ok, thanks. I'll probably need to get some of my support skills up a bit more before I try.

Last time I was shot at by sentries (those were Sansha Sentries in a mission but I was told normal sentries work the same) it made no difference whether I had high resists or not. The sentries did an average of roughly 150 damage every shot against either shields or armor against both a totally untanked BB and against 70ish on all resists. So I guess the only way to tank them is lots and lots of boosters or reppers (Thats what I did later anyway), hardners seem to be completely useless vs sentries.

I was assuming low sec gate sentries were what we were talking about. They hit a lot harder than mission sentries by a factor of 5x to 10x I'd say and resists matter a lot to the damage you take.
