Yes, yes actually I don't see it as such a low probability! I posted the question, y'know. :)
Right, so, on the topic of motherships, that TRUST rep said the first two came out of the factories last week, so does that bring the total to 3 so far (BoB's Caldari Championship Wyvern, that Nyx we saw in BWF and that other mothership TRUST mentioned) ? --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!

well, from what I heard:
A) A titan Cannot dock - Fair enough, it's as big as a station anyway.
b) A Titan will not dissapear once the pilot logs off like other ships do. - If this is true, An alliance would need to have a Pilot flying it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This would then mean that they would need quite a number of people able to pilot the Titan effectivly, this is kind of another obsitacle the Alliance would have to overcome, ontop of the hefty Mineral requirements and keeping it safe during the building. That's only if what I heard was true though... ----- Time for a new sig... |

I think the intention was that it could be docked in a starbase capital shipyard though. not sure if thats actually working at the moment. (Oveur, gimme a titan + skills on TQ and I'll test ok?).

Heh, as soon as a titan gets used, we will ALL know about it, for the forums will fill with the screams of a thousand scared alliance members.
"It came.. we tried to flee but.. we couldnt.. then.. death"
Come on guys, build one, i want to make fun of the people screaming nerf after they lose 300 ships in one engagement. ________________________________________________ Hypocritical. |

How about you use that nifty "search" link on eve-files.com? I just did and there's plenty of stuff.

The biggest drawback I can see to have a Titan is you can never really have anything less than a fleet guarding it at all times.
POSes are not invincible and I doubt they will be just because a Titan is parked in it.
Even if someone smaller managed to build it...all the powerful alliances would campaign to destroy it, making it more of a liability than an asset. And if one of the powerful alliances built one...they would use it to stop more from being built.
So there can only be one Titan...unless the others can keep it hidden...which defeats the point of building one.

Not if you actually plan to use it. Rather than just threaten to use it. The Titan Doomsday isn't like nuclear weapons or anything where it renders the land usless to everyone. It's just a really frikin big gun.
I'm fairly confident someone (not BoB) has one, but just didn't make a flashy announcement about it.

Well, a region can have thousands of moons... A titan can be in any one of those. The key is to build several POSes that can hold a titan, and just put the titan in one of them and move it around. __________________________________________________

The first ever griefing titan:
Parks in a roid belt and invites all the noobs safe passage to come see it. Then demonstrates how the doomsday device works while they watch
Imagine the blob that would show up on the map of ships/pods destroyed in the last hour

I get it! And CCP should change the name of the first titan pilot to Dr Strangelove, just for the day.

Wouldn't it be possible to repackage a titan and put it in a freighter, then move the freighter into empire and dock it? --------------------------------------------- Make Doomsday weapons available for frigates! |

You can't repackage a titan at all, I think... unless you can repackage ships inside the arrays, which I admittedly have never used. But according to the stats, one capital ship array can hold... one titan, and very little else. And based on the packaged/assembled ratio on battleships, one freighter could barely hold a packaged titan. ---

It is extremely easy to find out if anyone is building a titan:
1. open people and places 2. select corporation from the dropdown menu 3. type in amarr navy, caldari navy, federation navy, and republic fleet 4. view market activity for each navy
If the titan blueprints are not listed under there, that means none have been sold. the amarr, caldari, and minmatar superweapons, as well as a jump portal blueprint has been sold, so it looks like either some people are preparing, or they made some mistakes.

After the epic griefing of Trust, I can't imagine anybody knowing of a titan's construction except the pilot and the guy with one in the manufacturing slot of a solo-launched POS.
If what happened to Trust is the risk of building the newest cap ships, why would anyone bother trying to build one now, unless it's a total secret, even from the rest of an alliance?
That little news article nearly lost my accounts. I wanted to be a manufacturer of the biggest and best. But not anymore. |
