Edited by: Ortu Konsinni on 06/04/2006 23:23:12 Carriers are already pretty common, we know there is at least a handful of motherships out there, but what about titans? I've been meaning to ask for a while. By "own" I mean obviously 1) own and 2) able to fly.
If you know for sure, feel free to post who owns it and/or what type of titan it is, etc. (unless you'd rather not say, for security reasons and all that jazz, or whatever). If you don't know for sure and you're like "well I saw one in a video and I think it was on TQ" or "hey I heard that my friend's friend's friend's corp/alliance/cult has one", well, that doesn't count.
Personally I can't imagine someone having all the skills to fly one yet, but maybe I'm blowing the skill reqs out of proportion. --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!

I just checked the skill requirements out of interest and to pilot it, a dread pilot needs only Capital Ships V which is a rank 14 skill and therefore takes 3.584 M SP from zero to five (obviously most pilots have this at 3 or 4 already). With relatively good attributes of say 22 and 22, it would take approximately 75 days and 10 hours.
However, what good is a titan without it's toys? Exactly. And well, luckily the most fun toy, the Doomsday weapon requires only Energy Pulse Weapons V, which is a rank 2 skill and therefore amounts to less than or close to 10 days.
For Clone Vat Bay I you only need the skill Cloning Facility Operation I (rank 10), nothing more in excess of dread prerequisites.
Jump Portal Generator I? Here's the big annoyance. You need Jump Portal Generation V, which is a rank 14 skill (another 75 days...) and Astrometrics V.
But hey, if you just want the titan to mark some doomsdays in your calendar it won't take long!
...getting one built is another matter, of course.

utterly depressing lol. Brutal skill training run there. Oh well, never had any illusions about piloting those titans. Carriers and dreads are quite enough.

Wow, that is depressing, I never even thought of the "extra" skills you'd need when I figured 275 days from newbie to Titan pilot! Oh well, I can fly the Viator and it has cute flashights. -- Lil Miner |

Scuttlebut says BoB have one cooking, but then people have been saying that for ages. It's theoretically possible that an alliance with the assets of BoB could build one, but do they want to? Unlikely. Every alliance that's hostile with BoB would be trying their hardest to blow it up. Which could actually lead to the best fleet fights /ever/, with wave after wave of dreadnaught joining the fight as the superweapon is used.
Added to that the fact that with the /brutal/ skill reqs there can't be more than one, maybe two players who could theoretically have trained them since they came out, and even then I don't know as they'd be able to do all the support stuff that really would make a titan so useful.
When one of the major alliances actually has a Titan you'll know. They'll either bring it into a fleet fight and BBQWTFPWN a major fleet of hostiles, or do an e-peen waving forum post.

Actually the waves of dreads would most likely show up before it was finished to take down the starbase it was under construction at. With a 6 week build time, it'd be hard to hide that level of activity from the map.

The first 2 motherships were built last week.
Don't quote me on this, but I would imagine someone will have a titan built quite a while before someone can actually pilot it

Right.
The downside is that I would never be able to leave it -> I'd have to train both me and an alt to fly it. Plus I want it in Amarr, but I highly doubt that the GMs would transfer it there
But yeah it will be the uber mining op using titan and dread. So nice!

inside info says BOB are in the early stages of building one hence their raids on other capital ship builders trust etc - knowing bob they will increase PVP raids across eve esp if they suspect someone is building one to (well except FIX) so unless the major alliacnes team up now and launch a pre emtpive remove BOB from delve strike then BOB will own one first (ASCN and or FE-FIX will be up next)
