It looks like CCP are renovating. A overhaul of science and industry was long due. I'm looking forward to no longer needing 100 clicks to install my jobs. My hope is that they continue in this regard with the rest of the game: Missions, mining, another iteration on exploration/hacking, COSMOS, factional warfare, incursions and last but definitely not least sovereignty. There is even hope, they extract and replace the POS code. Maybe change moon mining? Bound to create an uproar for sure. Sovereignty and Population New Mining Mechanics |

You have this habit dancing around what you really want to say, looking at your post history you are very unhappy with the major amount of fixes and little amount of completely new content. This post was loving crafted by a member of the Official GoonWaffe recruitment team. For the moment and immediate future, I feel CCP is hoping to retain a majority of their player base by eluding to futuristic plans they hope will eventually play out. But...
- How many players will leave if they were hoping their subscription money was helping World of Darkness along?
- How many players feel CCP is not capable of doing anything more than just ship adjustments and other trinkets?
- With the world economy being what it is, how many players that used plex as a means to an end feel it becomes a grind each month if its in game "costs" keeps rising?
- How many players will drift off to try the next "Eve killer" and though chances are great it will not kill Eve, these players decide to pursue other entertainment values and not return to Eve?
- What hook will CCP use to try and entice a brand new player (and not another alt) into playing a ten plus year old game?
- What carrot will CCP use to try and entice their veteran player base to stick around for the next big shiny?
- What is the player base threshold for patience per each step of CCP's future master plan that might stumble and be delayed, altered, or outright cancelled?
- From a financial point of view, can CCP survive with just Eve as their main source of income?
Perhaps I am borderline "doom and gloom", but if CCP announced they are shutting the servers down at the end of this year, I would not rant and rave, but remember the good memories. Personally, I've become detached from Eve as a game, and as a community. I have not reached that "I don't give a damn!' stage, yet... And for me, idling my subscriptions is a very cheap form of entertainment - thus why I have not bailed. How do I see the future of Eve? I think CCP will cater further to their core, "fanatical" fan base: those players that ~live~ for Eve. Any new players or those on the fringe will be told there is enough content for them to play; but the biggest, bad ass "toys" will only be available to those with excessive means of gathering resources and with an unhealthy amount of time wrapped around a video game.
But I could be wrong and CCP will catch lightning in a bottle again... |

Maybe this is just my personal curiosity, maybe not.
I think it's heading towards even more cooperative gameplay / teamplay / group play than today. Everywhere. Which is a good thing, if you have the time to invest.

That's not so much the problem really.
Player interaction is fine, if there's a player to interact. When finally, after days of trying to get in contact, you get a reaction from one of these alts in one of those alt corps owning the poco on that planet you'd like to operate on and you manage to make a deal, two days later another alt corp blows up the poco and takes the planet.
Once they're done, they're offline and don't read mail like the previous owner and all you do is just start over.
You do this a couple of times and for the sake of your sanity start to wish Goons would take over all Highsec. Remove insurance. |

The rather unfortunate Dominion patch and then tiericide and many other game changes, along with the proposed industry changes suggest EvE is not just being "refreshed" but its overal theme and setup is slowly being shifted. What some players would love to know is: where's EvE headed to? I suppose there's a Lead Game Designer who decides (in concert with the CEO and whoever) the direction EvE is taking for the next years and - most importantly - the type of playerbase it is going to focus on. Could we pretty please be given an hint about this? Because we can easily see the EvE of the past: hi sec centric, The Forge is the center, game was somewhat stagnating, null sec was important yet somewhat had a certain priority which seemed to be less than today. What's the EvE of the future instead? We see a shift away from "hi sec centric", more emphasis on destruction. Some players would like to know the flavour of the Next EvE That Is Coming, the kind of players it shall focus on the most, the amount of "hardship" required to remain compeititve both in PvP, industry and so on. Maybe this is just my personal curiosity, maybe not. CCp has made no secret of what they are doing and it has nothing to do with anyone's pet 'playstyle'. They' said all along that they are moving the game more towards what it always should have been: a PLAYER (rather than npc) driven experience. Thus high sec pocos earlier and no moves to lessen the impact of NPC entities/structures on industry. I know this scares the hell out of people who have come to enjoy the comfort of NPC centric things in EVE (because those npc based things don't change/can't be take away whereas player based things can). In the same way people hide in NPC corps to avoid unwanted player interaction (wardecs), they hid behind other NPC based game mechanics to lessen risk and uncertainty. Hell, pretty much the whole theme of high sec is avoiding the nastier consequences of a player driven universe, which is why some people went competently batshit when CCP announced high sec pocos. The bottom line is this: you're going to have to get used to it. CCP is moving EVe to a point where there are fewer places to hide from interaction, no more of this "play an MMO like it's a single player game and still profit". I for one think it's a great plan and hope CCP sticks to it's guns on this one.
Going away from NPC and more towards players ruling will separate eve from the new game coming out that has some people drooling that is heavily NPC based *Cough*Star Citizen*Cough* Giving players more control should make EvE stand out from WoW in space. |

I think we will start to see a roll out of new stuff as we get closer to the star gates. They need to repair lots of things that were left unfinished, and broken, and in some cases you can get new fetures and game play from them, that will be like a new area. For example, PI, its very primitive, and seriously needs an overhaul. What ccp said it would be and what it is are so not the same. They could spend time fixing that, and in the process this would allow them to upgrade it to a more meaningful and enjoyable feature that could also allow for a stronger tie in to Dust and give us a reason to actually WANT to use Dust mercs.
Right now, PI is a click fest to get passive income. I have 6 alts running plants, and it takes me anywhere from 1-2 hours of clicking, flying, and moving crap around to do PI. Its annoying as hell. And Desperatly needs to be reexamined. If they could reduce the clicks even more, it would make a huge difference.
Looking at say WiS could add new features and gameplay as the 'fix or expand' on it. This is not adding a new feture just increasing and correcting one that already exist. Hell fixing PoS' will add new gameplay.
I think we will see a huge shift, ala Apocacrypto, arguabily eves most successfully content addition to date, once the star gates are able to be built. But to get there, negelected old stuff needs to be repaired. |

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Bit more transparency would be nice, but its not something I insist on, especially as Im not in any real leverage position to influence any of the dev process anyways, nor am I going to change my game strategies months in advance in anticipation of them.
Everyone should remember to reprocess their stockpiles of junk modules though before Live. That much we know for quite certain. ------------ |

So you aren't happy they are fixing things then. I'm going to remain optimistic and think that they are fixing small things while updating archaic legacy code so they can implement amazing new content. Sadly, as far as I can see, we've been on this coaster before, and fanfest *IS* basically an infomercial. Consider how many WiS videos they showed that were supposedly going to be in game Soon. *looks around* I don't see player run storefronts, Massive corp meeting rooms, or any of that other stuff we were shown at one point.
Grandma Cyg will make a prediction younglings.
1) CCP will change a bunch of stuff and a bunch of people will complain.
2) CCP will leave things half finished, and a bunch of people will complain.
3) CCP will try to make some of it's money back of WoD by dropping bits of it into EvE and calling it WiS, and people will complain.
4) People will complain, and morons in the forums will ask: Can I haz your stuff?
Unless your thread is limited to how 'awesum!' Eve Online is, ISD will lock the thread.-á You will find it is particularly common if CCP might have to make a public response to the thread subject, as opposed to bury it in the GM que for the forseeable future and then prohibit telling anyone what the GM said, if it's ever answered at all. |

Ok, English is my 3rd language so maybe I can't type what to me seems so clear.
The fixes are OK, the fact they switched to "100% only fixes any more" mode finds me less OK.
They are 600 or so employees, they have the man power to ALSO create some new content. Nobody asks for Apocrypha 2 reloaded, just some coherent content that deserves the "expansion" term. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

I too would like to see what the direction for Eve is, even when I wasn't keen on it it was always nice to know what to expect.
For example the process of upgrading all models and textures, Trinity
War and Sov
WiS
18 months
I realise we will see some industry changes and focus soon, but that is hardly a direction. We seem to be in our 3rd/4th(?) year of the 18 months of fixing stuff before we can get on to any new content. I'd be keen to know when 18 months is finally over what sort of content we can expect.
At this point I'd be happy if it was just 'finishing what we started with WiS' not something I was ever keen on, but It'd just be nice to know what direction the game is going in. This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main. |

Thus in the end it will always backfire on those who think their playstyle is superior and want everyone to "enjoy" it, so far it always has in other games.
Think CONCORD in npc null or similar.
