My problem is this:
I mine ice in a system where the only close refinery is owned by and NPC corp that has only Distribution agents. I have access to level 3 agents for this corp.
Now, I have 1.8 standings with corp and want to increase them so I've been running distribution missions for this corp. But the increase is so so slow... And the important storyline mission, was from a different corp, so no help only for faction standings which are high anyway.
Next refinery is 4 jumps away, which would be a pain to haul all the ice to.
What can I do to increase standings faster?

1. Find a better agent (L4) with a nearby L4 storyline for the same corp.
OR
2. wait til July 22, set up a POS, and tell the NPCs to **** off.
edit -- note that you'll need 5/5/5 skills, and the 4% refinery implant. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Thanks, i will do them both. But...
I know to find agents, but the part "with a nearby L4 storyline" left me clueless.
How do I know each agent's storyline agents? Also, I don't have required standings for L4... |

Get and train up the Connections skill, which will directly increase all your positive standings. |

It is already at 4 and I would not train now to 5... :(

Precise standing is:
1.94 (connections 4 raises your effective standing from 0.41)

Use the Agent Finder window to search for agents of the particular corporation. I may be wrong, but I think all of the Storyline agents are listed as L1s now. It's relatively easy to search through them though. Best bet is to find the closest storyline agent and see if there is another regular mission agent from that corporation in the same station. You're pretty much guaranteed to start drawing Storylines from them. Maybe there's something I am missing, dunno. Are we talking about career agents?
There is one storyline agent in the same station with the three Distribution agents I did missions for and what I got was a storyline mission for a different corp 22 jumps away. So surely this is not the way...

What's your Social? That'll improve your standing increases. As a 1x skill, it's not so painful to take it to 5. |

The agent has to be of the same level as the regular agent(s) you're running for.
So, if the Storyline agent is L4, you won't get them if you're running L3 missions.
use eve agents to hunt down all the systems with the L3 storyline agents for the corp you're trying to gain standings with.
Although, with 1.94 standings, you shouldn't have access to L3 agents either, unless you've got decent faction standings...

This corp DOES have one single storyline agent which is L1. Not L2, no L3 storyline agents. No L4 or L5 agents of any kind... :o

OK, maybe so, problem is I did not get the storyline from this storyline agent in same station in which I've been doing missions for 3 Distribution agents of the same corporation (2 L3 and 1 L2). I got the storyline from a storyline corp agent I did not do anything with so far. Absolutely nothing. Even if in the same station there was a storyline agent from corp I am trying to increase standings with.
So what now. I will do 16 missions again and will get a storyline from a new agent and from a totally new corporation. I did not understand.

It is ideal to do mission 16 at an agent where the nearest same-faction storyline agent is from a corp you want. This way you get a storyline mission with the corp you want, as storyline missions grant a lot of corp standing, more than a regular mission.
Note that you don't have to run all missions with the same corp to get a storyline. The 16 missions only have to be for the same faction and level.

Some Social Skills will help as well.
Social, Diplomacy, [Agent Type] Connections, Connections should cover it .. check the skill descriptions off the market tab/character sheet to make sure though. :)

Don't know what to tell you there. Once you complete your 16th mission, it should generate a mission from the closest Storyline agent of that faction. If you're not too worried about people emerging in your gameplay, it might help if you told us which systems/agents/corps/factions you're dealing with. The Agents within the station could be from different Factions.
Anyway, players have already posted how to get a Storyline Agent in the same Corp. My advice is to continue working level 3 missions since those have the best return for time verses reward.
Also for max standing increase / gain, definitely train Social Skill level 5 since that increases the amount of standing gained for completing missions.
Connections Skill level 5 will raise the amount of your current positive standing, thus reducing the amount of missions needing to be completed in order to reach the desired amount of standing.

I've never seen that happen, although ... it's been forever and a day since I've missioned.
@OP -> best way to check that is by looking at the agent's information -- it'll tell you the corp and faction that they work for. a storyline agent related question. is there any way to ensure which kind of storyline mission you get? I've had distribution agents give me security storyline missions and vice versa. it looks like security storyline missions give the best standings increase, and I would like to keep getting only those.
also, how exactly does Connections skill work? it looks like the higher your unmodded standing is, the less increase you get from the skill. |
