I do
Time to do the same thing for Ghost Research. Too many players use alt accounts to take advantage of being able to install a long research job and then unsub from the game.
Time to nerf them. Signature removed, CCP Phantom |

You mean all type of jobs would be halted if the account is not subbed? |

I well remember the threadnaughts when CCP announced it was being removed. It would be even more epic if they announced they were bringing it back.

I thought they stopped that a couple of years ago. I did too, but I could swear I had about 100k more of them on an account I resubbed recently than I did before it went inactive. Either that or I've lost track and resubbed the wrong one. |

I agree. I also think that items that are currently on the market should be removed when the sub drops.
EDIT* To clarify I mean placed back in the owners hanger they can put their items back on the market once they resub.

except it wouldn't. Ghost training kept no one, it was pretty much a 'hey i'm gonna take a year off, I might as well set titan to train to 5, it will be done when and if I decide to come back' no retention, they may come back, they may not. And it would make no difference if they trained the skill or not. All it would do is make it so people will unsub and set long skills when they take breaks. I think you misunderstand what they are saying. Other currently playing people would pick up the slack. You wouldn't need new subs. Create a big vacuum in a market and people will be there to fill it. Ghost training was something I never really leveraged like I should have. I suppose I should look into ghost researching before it gets nuked.

You posted about something you didn't understand, well done I guess
A perfect carrier blueprint would take almost a year to research, get a alt to throw it in the cooker and unsub the account so you don't have to plex for a year. Signature removed, CCP Phantom |

Brock Nelson wrote:Too many players use alt accounts to take advantage of being able to install a long research job and then unsub from the game. If we're talking turning off passive ISK making when subs switch off, lets do it properly
- Corps auto disband when their CEO unsubs. Or maybe just the ISK generation side should be restricted: taxes switched off, corp hangars and deliveries made unavailable and corp market/contract system should be blocked?
- Alliances drop sov/autodisband when the CEO of the exec corp unsubs. Or if anyone in the exec corp unsubs ~ for immersion ~
- POS offline (even when fueled) if the person who installed it or corp CEO unsubs. Lets chuck in all deployables for that matter, particularly sov upgrades, silos, etc. And why limit it to CEOs? Directors shouldn't be allowed to reap the rewards of passive ISK making either.
- Manufacturing jobs in build cancel*
- Contracts are deleted*
- Buy/Sell orders cancel*
- Offices close
- RP stop accumulating
- Remove the API ability to check anything on inactive accounts
- And for good measure, just in case anyone is sat on assets that might be passively accumulating ISK due to market trends whilst they are offline - maybe they should be periodically deleted too.
* removing these items permenantly would drive the point home, eh?
Perhaps you meant pausing these activities whilst the sub in question is offline? Which honestly, if applied to my equal-opportunity 'suggestions' would be even more hilarious. TO THE RIPARDMOBILE! |

One thing at a time, we know how CCP doesn't like too much work all at once.
BTW, from your list, ghost rp accumulation has been removed around the same time CCP stopped ghost training. Signature removed, CCP Phantom |

In a lot of games (Ultima Online for example) if the CEO unsubs, or is even offline for too long, the position automatically shifts to whoever in the clan has been online the most, even if its a total noob with no idea of the game who is just online heaps to grind up their starting toon to playable level. It can have hilarious results. |

Brock Nelson wrote:Pre-Crius, you couldn't do this, except maybe with Titan or Super BPOs whose research exceeds the 1 month time limit. I *think* you could actually, might be wrong. There's a deviation between subtime and old-style max month research cycles. You used to get a pure 28 days in the research cycle, which is enough to restart your jobs then unsub. This was on copying Cap BPOs rather than ME/PE. Altho sub ME/PE could also be adjusted to remain under subtime, but you lost more than 2 days. Sorry I don't have hard numbers, been a while. I considered using 'ghost research' alts for a while, but 18 were enough at the time. Plus I was training their mains as an aside, so keeping them subbed wasn't just about extracting max profit per alt. Trying this on a large scale reeked of exploit, so I avoided it.
The copy and research market is done in the sense we understood it. I used to relist your stock and aggressively force prices upwards on various BPCs (One Stop), but tbh the copy market itself was in freefall already because people saw it as an easy money passive scheme. It's a shame to see the researching profession take a hit with Crius, I really enjoyed that market. But it was obstructive to newer indy players in many ways. If some dev somewhere retains the idea of removing NPC seeded BPOs, this could get really entertaining, really fast [fingers crossed]. I'm kicking myself for sitting on 1000s of (now probably worthless) BPCs I didn't make time to sell, but v0v been ignoring them a while. Move on to a new market Brock, go scam MD again or something :P
Even if passive unsubbed jobs pause or cancel, opening up unlimited slots based on cost just killed the professional researchers/copiers anyway, unless they can catch new trends. Pointing out this particular mechanic - even to the point of having it removed - won't save the market itself. Although you did just alert everyone how to devalue the market even more.
