I have a miner/reprocesser/industrialist. He mines, brings the ore back to a station with high standing, and refines it. I actually manufacture in a different station.
I want to move the minerals to the place I manufacture. I have an alt that I am skilling up for hauling and is in the same corp as my miner. I set up a corporate HQ (cheap rent: 10K ISK) at my reprocessing station.
My plan is to:
1. Miner deposits mineral in corporate hangar 2. Hauling alt grabs up minerals and hauls them to manufacturing station
From there, I need to transfer the goods back to my miner/reprocesser/industrialist. The place I manufacture would have a high office rent so I don't want to use that avenue. From what I understand, I would set up a private contract (item exchange) to transfer the goods back.
In order for my miner/reprocesser/industrialist to accept the goods, can I accept them remotely? Is there a better way to do this? |

Private contracts can be accepted from anywhere in New Eden, no skills necessary.
Watch the value of ore/minerals. You may find it more financially lucrative to sell the ore and buy minerals, depending where you are.
Also, if you intend to be a serious industrialist (rather than dabbling/building for personal use), you're going to use way more minerals than one character can mine alone. |

What Cara said, you can accept private contracts from anywhere. Also, take a look in profits if you sell the ore/mineral and rebuy what you need. Specially if you really are going to be a big industrialist person as you will need a LOT of minerals. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Thanks for the replies. I will be buying up minerals since I will only mine when I am doing other things (fiddling with market prices). I just wanted to make sure my plan would work before spending time bringing up a hauler pilot.
I have noticed that ore/mineral prices are sometimes odd. Not much profit in reprocessing, if at all but that's what you get when you can do unlimited reprocessing! |

It's because ore can be compressed for movement out to lowsec/nullsec. Minerals can't be compressed.
Once compressed, the ore can be efficiently moved (jump freighters usually) and refined at the destination with better refineries than present in highsec stations. |

Ahh, that makes sense. Thank you! |

Naah, it finally makes sense.
The old system was just plain stupid (high-sec having perfect refining, while WH people and SOV people couldn't get it). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

not to hijack
but for clarification .. i dont do industry much .. if at all
but i had an urge (taking a 7 year break from it seems to be enough) to try it again.
i live in high sec now, i have 1 orca/booster + 3 hulk capable pilots .. so if i mine in high sec .. for no good reason .. i should sell the ore and buy mins now?
is there any way to get better refining numbers in high sec ? highsec POS ?
I tell ya - its fun being this clueless about most of the game .. never gets dull .. everything is new and shinny all the time. History is the study of change. |
