Edited by: Vegeta on 09/10/2003 12:24:24 Playboys blueprints were stolen by a member of their corporation. Im not going to say how, it is an exploit. It allows a person that has view access to a hangar and factory access to take ANY blueprint out of that hangar.
Every corp out there that lets its members build their own items, stop until this bug is fixed. By giving someone factory access and view access you are basically giving them take access.
Last night during the CSM chat i spoke to a dev and told him how this worked. I hope they fix it.

I tried to make a BP eject into the output hangar by cancelling the rent, it returned to its origianl hangar so unless its another method of force ejection then l don't see what you mean Nails. I am assuming its manufacturing related rather than labs, but whatever, this should be emergency pathed...l dont really care to find out the details of this horrific ****up.

Now that it's public, CCP is more likely to release an emergency patch for it... |

Edited by: autoexec on 09/10/2003 15:43:56 Ha Ha! Poor CCP...
Its not an exploit, CCP and the GMs have said it. Normal game mechanics is what they call it? I hope they get screwed by their own policies on this one.

I am sure this bug will be plugged quickly but am also sure many people are trying it right now

is this not admittance to the fact this IS an exploit known to Polais/GMs/CCP?

And if so, then IMHO the offender of Heff's theft SHOULD be properly taken care of and his BPs returned

The dev i spoke to, as i understood it, clearly acknowledged this as a bug.
Ive known about this for serveral months, i never thought it would get this big.

I agree. I'm really a nice and quiet person, and I have nothing to do with Playboy (except for the occasional "playful lobbying" to be a playmate)...but as a longtime gamer this whole thing is starting to disgust me.
CCP right now is handling this horribly. I truly hope for a quick resolution for Heff and Dora. I am saddened by this whole situation.

Vegeta, thank you. While I know our corporations operate very differently with very different ideals, I admire and respect you for ignoring that and doing the right thing. Thank you for giving this the attention it deserves.
I don't wish the kind of pain I am feeling on anyone else in this game as it is beyond explanation. I only wished the exploit could be posted so CCP would see how pervasive it is and do something to fix it.
Sometimes it takes a revolution to change things. Let's hope this works.
Vegeta, again, many many thanks. And thanks to everyone else who has stepped up to address this. I don't have your names handy, but thanks to all of you.

Edited by: Singular on 09/10/2003 19:08:09 The fact that they havent done anything yet means they probably won't. In time, everyone will forget, and playboy will end up screwed.
CCP also needs to get on the same page with their GM's. Pann states this isnt an exploit, yet when its posted how to do it, the Modsquad decideds it is and *clicks*?

So there you are, sir. :) Good to see you.
Maybe if everyone starts exploiting this, it will get the attention it deserves. Sounds like either an intense lack of communication between game masters and developers, or a massive cover up (conspiracy? oh no!!!)
Good luck, Heff. You seem an honorable fellow.

Hey Vaniq, nice to hear from you :) Too bad I seem to be on the "out" with this game.
I loved and still love this game, but it is extremely hard to find reasons to play it anymore with all the crap going on. I don't care for the lost BPs, of course it sucks, but all this has shown me that one day or another, all my invested time will be lost due to design flaws, bugs or whatever.
What will happen next? They introduce cloaking devices on tranquility and the first time i cloak my ship, it disapears forever. Then a GM tells me its normal because the cloaking device is supposed to make the ship disapear. When i try to tell him it disapeared F-O-R-E-V-E-R he will tell me its normal that its supposed to disapear, disregarding the "forever" word each time. Probably.
Sorry for being out of context, got a carried away and just had to ***** a bit, I was gone for 2-3 weeks on vacation and was anxious to play this game again... yet nothing has changed.
Btw Vegeta and Nails, thanks for the post in this thread.

There are other forums, you know. Not to mention personal websites that people can find via Google.
CCP should WANT this exploit made public, so that corp CEO's know what steps to take to prevent it.

This will get even worse. Without an emergency patch, there are going to be more victims. Now CEOs will have to store everything in their personal hangars. Say goodbye to building things if your CEO isn't online to get the BPs for you. Say goodbye to research unless the CEO is there to give you the blueprints. The idea of secure hangars is gone, and with that, corporate life is going to absolutely stink.

I use copies for nearly all production. If its a super expensive item that I only have a limited copy for (ships and such) I alone do the production.
Copies are "free" so theres no reason anyone but the CEO should use originals for anything.

Using copies for effective shipproduction is not possible, since it more then doubles the time required to build a ship. --- soonÖ |
