So your asking about how to better lead your corp?
Well one of the best piece of advise I can tell you is, unless your the main FC of your corp/alliance then your just the top cat herder. Don't let **** go to your head. |

Dear experienced leaders,
For the past two years, during which I have been part a part of corporations which have been established by myself or others , I have noticed that there are many major corporations out there as well as alliances which have been around for a long time. ((while know towards there number , Size and style -- point unclear )). Many Of these popular or experienced groups have been around for a long time due in part to the fact that they have set and acquired goals at a level where there is no one else hitting them comparably well. What I am trying to understand is that in order to achieve similar levels of wealth or power, what might be some helpful or required steps toward establishing a flexible group which is able to handle common problems as they arise in the future? All I am asking for are your suggestions, opinions and advice as leaders or facilitators, who have helped run corporation, or have witnessed such tactics put into play, and have been able to continue along the same road as a leader, or have hit their limit as one.
Thank you for reading and replying to this, I hope you have the spare time to share your insights with me.
I have to admit, this post was very confusing to me, I wasn't sure at all what you were asking for the first couple times I read it, I feel like others will have the same experience, so I have edited your post for clarity, spelling, and punctuation, so that others who may enter this thread might better understand what you are looking for.
To actually answer your question, players are driven toward strong leadership, a plan, drive, and content creation. Many corporations pop up on a seemingly daily basis, which seek to entice players to join by promising them access to a wide range of activities, when the corp itself isn't remotely functional in most of what they offer. This is a huge mistake, as players will quickly realize the corporation is the sum of its empty promises. This is where focus comes in. As a corporation leader, it is important to select an area that your corporation will pursue, preferably one you already have experience in, though not a requirement. Then, focusing your efforts, ensure that corp members are able to strive toward participating in this goal. Make them feel like they have the opportunity to take part in something, not just the expectation to create their own fun where they want it. They are joining your corporation to be able to do what you are offering, so make sure you are actually doing it.
Leadership activity is also paramount. If you have to take a break from the game, have some directors, or trusted in-corp sub-leaders that can pick up the slack. Players will quickly vanish without someone leading them, or someone helping to pull the group together. As a leader, you are not just the decision maker, you are the glue that is pulling everyone together, and helping to give them opportunities to make a home in your corp, something that is crucial for keeping players through thick and thin. And things will get thin. |

Aren't you the one who forces all your members to use teamspeak and tries to get their skype details to do interviews before recruitment? Maybe I'm confusing you with the guy who likes to set his corp tax to at 75 - 100%.

If you're really serious about being a good leader then here's some advice.
Everything you've been doing so far, stop that and do the opposite thing instead. - Ta-dah, you are now considerably more attractive as a potential leader as you have eliminated every behaviour which told me you were nothing more than a money obsessed scrublord with an ego problem.
Having said that heres some slightly more serious suggestions.
1. Being in charge does not automaticly make everyone else your personal servant. Corp members chose to join you and they can choose to leave just as easily. Dont just play nice but be nice and you'll maintain your members loyalty for a lot longer than treating them as personal servants and trying to force them to play a certain way.
2. Corp tax is not your personal money maker. Its pretty much a requirement if youre serious about being a good leader to keep corp finances seperate from personal ones. Dodges charges of embezzlement and gives you a more serious image as someone who wants to keep things professional. People who funnel corp taxes into personal wallets are people who don't run succesful corporations for very long.
3. Microphones are optional, not compulsory. As long as someone can listen in and communicate effectively using the chat tools then it doesnt matter if they have a working mike or not. Insisting on this is good way to get an elitist image and to reduce recruitment opportunities.
Thats all for now.

Potential leaders in this game only job is to provide content for his pilots. Its your job to do everything you can to set them up for success as well as setting goals to make them get better.
Youre a mentor, guidance giver, content generator and all around person who spends most of his time doing ***** work.
If you dont feel rewarded by watching your group grow and succeed and get better every month....then youre wasting your time and need to find a group where you can just press F1. |
