Well Im curious of who has had weird ransom responses or happening.
Here is my story. Once I ransomed this prophecy for about 20M. Reasoned with him that it would cost him more to LOSE the Prophecy and replace it than to pay me and keep it.
He claimed he had 21M but I still said 20M. So what happened? He ejected. He handed me 25M+fittings ^_^

One of my corpmates had someone refuse to pay the ransom on their Hulk (a perfectly reasonable ransom too) because "I have another."

Someone ejected while we were attempting to ransoming their Typhoon, everyone was quick to lock the pod down but when everyone tried to kill the pod someone one-volleyed it and everyone else had forgotten to unlock the typhoon, so we blew it up too

Well, 3 of us attempted to ransom a frieghter a couple nights ago, we said 500mil, he replied with FU i'll only pay 200mil...but alas he was stalling for time for his buddies to come along, so BOOM.
If only people would just pay up and shut up.

Blew up a hauler, that dropped Hulk, and alotta full cans. I tell the podpilot he can jump in the hulk and warp away for a decent price - he pays and I unlock him: At this point he starts to approch all the full cans, I lock him again and web(dont scramble) and tell him to back off or he will loose the hulk too... The muppet does not stop and after several warnings I blow him up. Ransome not refundable... Looking in the cans I could see why he had to risk it... he later blamed it on lag...

probably included the usual gist a-type shieldbooster in the loot. It could have popped in the explosion and he didn't know about it.

I've seen this happen a few times - ask for a ransom and instead people just eject and give you the ship + fittings which is sometimes worth quite a bit more than what you asked for.
Very strange behavior.

Happened to us before too.
Some guy ejected in a cyclone with full fittings then sat in local and demanded we give the ship back and that 'we didn't know who we were messing with'. --------------

Some people just don't know how to cut losses XD
When I got trapped in a gatecamp in my t2/'scout' proj BC, I payed the ransom with a smile on my face and counted myself lucky lol... chatted for a while too XD Noone wants to risk 'scouts' getting wasted

Funniest thing was probably getting CTDed approaching a Maller, logging back in and being held down by a Maller/Thorax/Blackbird. Swallowed my pride on that one and paid the paltry ransom
(Luckily enough, jumped in on another ransom of theirs a few minutes later and wiped them out. And that is why you pay ransoms.)

I have a similar story not about ransoms. Aparently Black Fleet (I was there too on vent) locked a Prophecy and proceded to start to kill it. During the battle the particular person about to lose his Prophecy is complaining how he has no money left, that he spent all his money on the Prophecy plus insurance, but would at least get some of that back (because of the insurance). At this point, when he is about half armor, the guy ejects from his ship, then warps away in his pod. Leaving his Prophecy for Black Fleet to take, and now out the insurance... weird.

Maybe the implants in his head/pod were more important than the ship?

Please tell me he asked you: 1. What...is your name? 2. What...is your quest? 3. What...is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
That would be worth 5m of anyone's money.

I've often thought of this. But after it was all over he was in local for awhile sobbing about his ship, and the lack of insurance. I then added him to my friends list, just because, and haven't seen him log in since (this was a couple months ago.)

We had a guy trapped in a station and we told him, "For a million you can leave". He responded with, "How about this? I'll give you one million now, and another million when I'm safely away."
Although puzzled by his counter-proposal we accepted his terms. Sure enough, he paid the extra amount after he jumped out of the system.

Interestingly enough, you stand a better chance of getting away in your pod if your ship is popped than if you eject... ------------------------------------ I like long walks, a good book before bed, and human entrails served cold with a side order of scrap metal. |

just select a planet and spam 'warp out' button as your ship is about to die works 99% of the time when theres no bubbles about, unless the inty pilot REALLY knows what they're doing (descram before ship death to break the pod insta-warp that anyone with a decent bounty will try)

Not true, if people are in scram range, they tend to have their warp scrams on you. If you eject the warp scrams will still be activated.
If I had 2 billion in implants and no cash to pay the ransom. I'd eject in just about anything minus a capital ship. Loss of a 50-200 mil ship vs a full set of high grade crystals, what would you choose? Fear the Ibis of doom!

Though I haven't been podded in awhile (cheers to EVF for trying and failing to smartbomb my pod) I choose to not wear implants I can't afford to lose while pvping.

A few days ago a corp mate of mine spotted a navy apoc on scan missioning, he sent a gang invite and the pilot (name withheld to spare blushes) accepted, My corpie warped to him closely followed by another 3 of us :)
Webbed scrammed Jammed and damped we politely asked for 800 mill , he said he only had 400,
As a joke one of our gang suggested he eject then.. and too our great surprise he promptly did and warped of his pod.
the ship was quickly boarded and escorted to our home system, where one of the gang members paid the other 3 200 mill each and is now the proud owner of said Navy Poc..
