So I recently started doing combat sites in my asteros but I am starting to wonder if it is worth doing. With data/relic sites, I usually make ball park 2-3 mil or so per site. With high sec combat sites, I am lucky if I make that from two high sec sites and they take considerably longer to do.
Am I missing something? I was under the impression that combat sites can be pretty lucrative. |

exploration income is erratic. It makes no sense to make any statements on it unless you have a whole lot of datapoints by doing tons of sites.
In my case HS combat exploration has been crap for over a week, I only made just over 600 mil total which I normally make in 1-2 days tops (if you do it right you average 250-500 mil a day without grinding like a madman). Today I'm back to 340 mil and still gaining more.

As a change of pace, I've run some Sansha High-sec anomalies on my fairly untrained alt in a frigate. Even at entry level, they do drop the occasional juicy loot from time to time and I even got a few "escalations".
I have to agree with Gregor, you can't really compare if you have a small data sample.
Also bear in mind that there are different levels of all sites, so plenty of stuff to take into account.
I'd consider then more as training ground for new pod-pilots rather than serious content.

Exploration is pure RNG luck. You can find loot worth a plex or more within a few good sites, or next to nothing during a long session over the weekend. Don't give up, once you find that juicy module worth over a hundred million, you will cheer even more ;) |

Combat missions can be a steady income the problems is what level missions and how fast can you run them. You need to be in level 3's to start to make a decent income with them. Good level 4 missions runners can make 50-80 million or more in an hour.
Overall if you have a lucky streak going it is hard to beat the income from data/relic sites. unless your luck runs like mine, I have not made more than 8 - 10 million in a gaming session with data or relic sites in more than 6 months. Gaming sessions are usually about 2 hours do I guess the gods of EvE are not smiling on my data/relic site adventures.

On Saturday I spent 20 minutes to do relic sites and I got 200mil. On saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday I made 50 mil in total from relic sites combined. Exploring is random, as is doing combat sites, anomalies and mission running (loot). Sometimes the loot fairy loves you, other times she cant stand the sight of you.

Generally speaking, data/relic work in high sec is rubbish. You only do hacking in high sec for practice. Once you have the practice, you're better off finding quiet areas of lowsec or nullsec to do hacking in.
Honestly, it's hard enough just finding a system in high sec that even has any hacking sites left. |

Honestly, it's hard enough just finding a system in high sec that even has any hacking sites left. But it is easy to find them by going into a wormhole from high-sec. Data and Relic sites in wormholes that have factions named will not have sleepers and can be done with a cov ops ship or Astero.
Data sites have a small chance of having very valuable BPCs in them, i think that's why the perception of being worthless seems to hold true unless you get really lucky.
