Ok, I know it is my fault. But I keep losing my drones. I know there will be endless people here saying "You dumb f*k you deserve it",and they are probably right, but I would be endlessly grateful if my drones would just leave with me.
I know it is a hard concept but, I am pretty sure that what ever futuristic year we are in they would take pity on a poor drunken plex runner and program a feature into the ship to recover drones when ever one decided to leave the grid. Space is vast and can be soul-suckingly boring at time. Can one really be blamed for having a nip or two?

You can create a hotkey to recall your drones. Mine is the "R" key.
But you also have to accept that the risk of leaving them behind (whether voluntary or due to forgetfulness) is one of the tradeoffs for the weapon system.
Besides... the ranks of the Rogue Drones always need replenishing!

Drones left behind serve the good purpose of being something rats can actually kill, giving them some small bit of (well, false) hope.
Sarcasm aside, a hot key like suggested is going to be your best bet at making this process a little less forgetful. Making it fully autonomous, while would make sense from a realistic standpoint, is another example of intentionally retained weaknesses in a system meant to keep it's power in check.
A better suggestion would be for someway for something (either in game or out) to better remind you to recover drones before bouncing off grid...say have a UI chirp/sound play or UI element light up like an indicator light when you leave grid while drones are still present on the field.

Where do you think Rogue Drones come from? And don't give me that silly lore stuff... We know the truth!

I've played EVE while drunk, and I've never forgotten my drones... However I did buy some expensive ship which I haven't even touched to this day today... |

You know what, I also want my drones to automatically come back when I warp off.
Along those same lines, I want my armor reppers to automatically turn off if my armor is repaired to 100%.
And I want my ship to automatically dock if I'm sitting outside station AFK and get aggressed, because I shouldn't have to remember to do things.
I also want my mission cargo to automatically be put in my cargohold if I accidentally undock without it.
How about my energy neutralizers turn off automatically if my target's cap reaches 0?
Oh and CCP should definitely make it so all valuable loot from my mission wrecks automatically moves to my cargo in case I miss or forget it.

the concept isn't hard because if you DC, your drones try to return.
problem I can see if you your in a hurry to warp out because something is going bad, pvp/pve wise, it would delay your warp to return drones resulting in your destruction of you ship which is often more then some drones unless you run geckos, or rogue drone factions.
even if you can sell them to not return on warp/ or take the time to abandon them and you forget then "BOOM"

Nope I don't, but please go on, those are also fantastic ideas. I need to rename this thread to ensure the devs notice these additional ideas. Pretty soon, we will get Eve where it needs to be.
But, yes I should get a probe ship out there and quit being lazy. But it was sooooo far away and I had burned my clone jump to go ratting. Hmmm I'm sure there are a few more good ideas hidden in there somewhere :)
But really I should never have fun in the FI section. That is truly uncalled for.
