Have you read this thread? There is not a single person here who has tried to defend your or take your side in any way. That in itself speaks volumes. I don't even feel the need to defend myself, my corp mates or any of my friends from what you said. It's so laughably petty no one in their right minds would take it seriously.
When I was running a T1 Retriever mining ice, PGOH's Directors then, and Sengier himself, were all helpful to me, asking nothing in return -- eventually I joined the corp.
Throughout my tenure there, although at times I strongly disagreed with many of his decisions, I stayed loyal to him, as he stayed loyal to me. Perhaps this is Sengier's most endearing quality: loyalty and honor. (Praetorian Guard of HONOR).
It we me that first began the business that eventually brought PGOH it's wealth, and me that had to come up with the 16 B we spent to help defend a brand new Alliance Member's wormhole (which caused me a slight cash flow issue). I've never heard of folks making such a commitment to a new member, except for Sengier.
I have more Trade and Reprocessing skills then I do combat skills, and that enabled us to make the Isk we made. Others wanted what we had, or disapproved of our competing in "their" market, and hence the original need for Mercs. I was all Care Bear. no doubt, and my combat log proves it. The other Directors also had skills mainly geared toward our business, so yes, we couldn't mount the greatest High Sec PVP fleet in history, but we could do a little bit....
All of our Mercs did great and I have no ill will towards any of them, in fact hope to maybe use their services again in the future. I understand why they did what they did, and honestly don't fault them.
Still, I strongly value loyalty and trust, and Sengier has that in spades. While his diplomatic skills may be insufficient for his role, his personal integrity and honor can not rightly be called into question.
I was away dealing with RL when these events unfolded, so I haven't much to comment on there, but I will say this:
If Sengier and I were walking through a dark alley and a gang of assassins yielding knives jumped us, I know he'd have my back. I might still die, but not because he didn't try.
I'd rather work with folks who have my back then a supposed ally who takes offence at a badly chosen comment and turns against me.
Meanwhile, that book closes, and a new one begins. |
