Edited by: Matsuo Masato on 09/12/2006 21:52:24 Hi, my problem is that when I try to run two clients at once my computer randomly crashes wtih no apparent reason, sometimes after just a few minutes running two clients, sometimes after several hours. I thinks my computor should be able to run two clients because it has 1g ram, a 3,4Ghz processor and Gefroce 6800, or is that not good enough?
can anyone help me? ----------------------------------------------

Try disabling the sound for one of the clients. This is a common problem when both clients are using sound.

Maybe your clients take up too much memory?
Tjeck it out in the Prefs.ini file in your \EVE\cache library. Change buffersize to a quarter of your total RAM, when running two accounts.
I don't know if it'll help, but I guess it's worth a shot.

Running them from same directory or seperate directories?
I've got about the same as you, except for vid card (ATI), and I run two clients from sperate directories. EVE1 and EVE2 and have not expierenced any issues.

Computer crashes normally can be traced back to not quite dead yet RAM somewhere, termal problems (Dust? Smoke? Heatsinks not working at full efficiency? Air circulation because of a piece of paper closing intake?) or the crappy sound engine in EVE.
Most of the RAM problems cannot be found by testing programs like memtest86. I use EVE for testing computers instead of memtest and others. It crashes much more reliable. Buying the expensive RAM with paired DIMM and lifelong guarantee pays off regularly when you're playing games. Buying cheap equipment for your bureau is a business decision and keeps us support people busy, fed and annoyed. *chuckles* --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

What type of processor do you have?
I was having the exact same problem.
I run a Pentium 805D and a GeForce 6600GT. I could run two clients from seperate directories just fine before Revelations, but after if I had two open, as soon as I undocked in one the comp would BSOD.
I did all the disabling sound and hardware acceleration crap, set affinity....notta. Finially I had to edit the boot.ini and create a seperate boot sequence just for EVE that only ran one core. Check on the Known Issues and Walkthroughs section to see the exact steps. Duel Cores are an issue for EVE right now, that might be what's effecting you.

Edited by: EzTarget on 10/12/2006 12:55:41 2 accounts, 1 install, no crashes.
Old PC Spec: 1Ghz P3, 1Gb Ram, GeForce 5700fx
Current PC - AMD X2 64bit 2.0Gb, 1Gb Ram, GeForce 6800 1Tb HDD space (I just love all this space :D)
Fresh install of Eve in 1 directory, patched, sound turned off, sun occulsion off, everything works fine. I did not even need to change the core that Eve runs on, it just works right out the box. I think AMD got dual core right, and Intel seem to be playing catch up, as I've not had any problems like Duke has had above... Well first, don't launch both from the same folder. You should copy the EVE folder into a separate one and make a shortcut for each. That's what I do.
Also like some people said, disable music.
It doesn't work very good though when you have 2 opened at the same time... You'd better use 2 computers or open one after the other...
