Edited by: Maxine Blade on 31/05/2007 17:52:21 Best tactic is to hit em where it hurts, in the wallet.
Scout the ore thief and figure out what he does with the minerals. Most of them actually haul the minerals out and sell them for maximum profit...
Assemble a fleet of Cruisers and a frigate or 2 and suicide gank em.
Make sure the frigate has smartbombs. As soon as the Industrial pops, turn on the smartbombs so you pod him too!!!
I've been the biggest vocalist on dealing with Ore Thieves. This works best!!!
Killing their little frigate isn't worth the time. The 300k they spend on a can flipping frig is nothing. But if you hit their Industrial with a few days worth of their can stealing... It makes them upset.
This will cost you less than 15 million to setup and can be done with 6 people.

y'all don't honor ransoms? that's pretty uncool TBH, but at least you're upfront so people know not to pay you.

Hey you forum warrior. Raise your reading skills instead of just guns!
Simple: Partial ransom = destruction Full ransom ON TIME = free
Clear? I cant do more simple. Get some intelligence implant if you don't understand.

Yay for repeating it and insulting people. I can claim all day that I'm the lord of the universe and that doesn't make it true. Insulting people who don't believe me also doesn't make it so.
You win the game.

also, theres no such thing as a partial ransom fool.... you cant demand half the money then blow him up, you either ransom them or kill them...
also if your not arsed about isk, and just want to rub it in his nose, i recommend a thorax set out for pure damage, no tank, dont bother, your screwed anyway, full rank of neutrons, antimatter, mag stabs, hammerheads, youll pop a frig in 2 hits probably, and remember a webber and a painter or youll struggle to hit if your moving aswell

How can we honor a ransom if we have no honor?
Besides... I wouldn't necessarily call what we do 'business' - It's much closer to 'fun'.

Honorless bastards! You're giving honest ore thieves like me a bad name. May all your women's wombs be barren, your wine sour, your beer skunky, and may you have ulcers that are large and painful so that you may not sample the ambrosia of a good single malt scotch without pain.
May your children for a dozen generations not know fun, and live in poverty and squalor.
May your pod fail to eject properly, splattering your poor corpse into the void as your ships disintegrate around you.

No, you said it right. A shocking amount of people who play these forums are lacking remedial reading skills. I blame the parents, personally.
This thread is a great example of your fellow players, by the way. Some think "you just don't get it" if you play eve differently than they do.
Some start threads basically lying about events. Notice the OP didn't mention the 10 mil, but anyone who pirates knows that 4 mil is rather low. ---

I believe I stated in a previous post that some Racketeers honour ransoms and some don't.
Personally, I do.
However, if someone in the corp doesn't, who am I to tell them how to play Eve?
Racketeers are all about joining and having fun, doing what you want to do in Eve, under a corp umbrella. We don't force mining ops or mission running on people, although people are free to do this if they so wish.
It's easy to get trapped in low sec and 0.0 can be very boring if local is full of blues. I can honestly say the Racketeer way of thinking is much more fun, IMHO than mining white glaze for a POS.
Get your alts in guys, keep your main in 0.0 or wherever and see what I mean.

Edited by: Ma Hensu on 05/06/2007 22:21:09 Edited by: Ma Hensu on 05/06/2007 22:18:39 We don't have a policy of honouring ransoms unfortunately. Personally, I do, but many in the corp don't and that's fine. Racketeers was setup for individuals to have fun playing Eve and not treat it as a second job. Our corp is just a niche in the market.
Currently there are corps that trade, mine, bounty hunt, act as mercs, low sec pirate, operate in 0.0 and we wanted to offer an alternative, an ore theft corp.
There are thief style characters in most mmorpgs so why not fufil that role on eve?
We have a lot of fun and we do lose heavily to big corps and alliances deccing us and owning us, but we take this as a compliment, it shows that we are playing our role in Eve effectively.
The fact of the matter is, that the author of the original post was so incensed by the actions of a Racketeer, he forgot the real world and was so immersed in this beautiful game that he felt the need for revenge. Not many mmorpgs can evoke these kind of emotions, and if it wasn't for Racketeers stealing your cans, you could merrily watch Eastendeers whilst AFK mining, something you could do on an offline game like X3.
Racketeers take the boredom out of mining. We get you figuring out ways to defend your mining ops.
I think we add an extra dimension to the game, the number of wardecs we get certainly suggests this.
Eve is just a game and it's all about fun, it's nothing personal and we are just living out a fantasy on a computer game.
If there's a Racketeer in local you best keep a close eye on those jetcans...
omg *cough* inflated bubblehead slapping his own back...lol...lots of games evoke emotion ...and wow u are like some unique group of chumps to think you have all that impact on ppl.

This has to be the biggest waste of time you people could engage in. The only thing as an ore thief that I care less about than the "dime a dozen" industrial ship, is the ore/minerals in the cargo hold that were practically free... ****ers...

Originally by: Conspectus I had this really dumb and expensive incident this morning.
I was mining when Oupla entered my belt. He started heading for my can and I thought.... *sigh* here comes an ore thief. He popped my can and his name started flashing red. I saw he was flying some kind of frigate and...
... DUMB ME. I locked him and sent my drones on him... which of course didn't do ****. So he locks me, convo's me and demands 4 mil. I pay him the 4 mil and then he says "ok now die" and blows up my covetor.
it hurt, both my feelings and especially my savings. But hey it was fair, I was being an ass. He tricked me and got a clean kill.
But I don't really feel like letting this go just yet.
Quite simply, I want to know what i can do to get this guy podded himself? He probably lives by hunting empire belts so I can't just go at him. There must be a way. Any shared experiences or suggestions?
If people are ASKING for ransoms, and you are paying them, and they blow you up anyway...
Name and shame, they won't get much love from the pirates here.

You are a member of the community. If your corp mates dishonor ransoms, that hurts you, that hurts me, and everyone else in the pirate community.
So, you can say, "stop ******* dishonoring ransoms or we'll kick you and pod you."
Then they can play eve as they please, and listen or not.
But don't let people ruin YOUR name by association, and don't stand for your corp mate hurting YOUR business.

Let me start by saying your first mistake is JETTING a can in space for anyone to just come along a take it. At least get a secure container or something. Second, never think your mining barge can kill anything other then a few frig NCP's.
