Hey guys,
I just started days ago, and wanted to learn more. Saw a few stickies, but they are older posts, and wanted to make sure all the information inside of them is still valid. I want to make sure I am learning current stuff :)
I saw the cheatsheet, I would love to make sure that is up to date :) |

It is hard to say what is or is not up to date based on your discriptions. Links?
Also... updates in EVE come slow. And such changes are often mere percentage based changes.
This means that, more often then not, the gist of something is relevant regardless of however old an article is.
How did you Veterans start?

More or less grand yeah.
Can't vouch for everything but I'd be happy linking pretty much most of the stuff on that page to a newbro.
Specifically Feyds blog, that's a good one.

Welcome to Eve
ISD's have been maintaining the links in the original post - they will be up to date as of April 2016. Other posts in that thread are now 6 years old and a lot has changed.
Your best source for information is http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page
CCP also publishes the flight academy videos available from the in game help menu (F12) or on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCczUeYqoS7d40bkeWmJHXGw
Last but not least, the manual for Eve resides between the ears of experienced players. Going it alone is possible but you really need to enjoy the search for information. Much easier to join a player corporation with a play style you think you'll enjoy, and ask questions.
Good luck.

Great thank you, a guy I work with plays EVE as well, so might work with him to learn more. He suggested EVE University as well. |

I recommend videos on You Tube by JonnyPew, eveiseasy, Reload, EVE Pro Guides and Pandemic Horde. EVE University has a lot of good stuff too on their site. Sometimes I find a video or two in channels that don't have a lot of tutorials. Sometimes I read long essays that are badly written but find one paragraph that makes it worth it to read them anyway. I find good instructive videos and essays all over the place, but I have to go through a lot of useless stuff to find them. Then again, I've never been bothered by "walls of text" and have never used TL;DR. |

When it comes to core game play a ton of old resources are still helpful. Many things haven't changed and of the things that have many changes are just tweaks to the numbers but the core idea stays the same. That said if you want to do something specific you probably want to look for newer info, or at least try and verify the info.
as Tau says, the best thing to do is ask.

And welcome to Eve,
Just remember the main thing is to have fun and try out new things. After checking out most everything, you'll know what career path to pursue.
Good luck to you, may you have a long and rewarding career here.

Thank you guys, I have been playing for about 6 days, and still learning. I am enjoying it, and finding tons of resources to help me understand. Completing the in game missions is Critical to understanding everything. Once I completed the missions, I understood a decent amount to EVE and game play.
Still going to check out those videos. |
