Originally by: DTson Gauur The fittings window autoclosing every friggin time you d'n'd a module to ship view - EXTREMELY ANNOYING
There is a lock button on the upper part of fitting panel. I think I'll make it locked by default because it looks like no one use this feature except me.
Originally by: NoNah I personally like the fact that its not java, but from what I can tell.. Delphi?
Yes it is.
Originally by: NoNah - Doubleclicking should fit the module - not display info(A window wich can be greatly improved in its design btw).
There can be multiple opened setup windows and no way to tell where to fit module by double-click.
Originally by: NoNah - Love the fact that you added cap per second as a value right away, but would you please add the recharge time and such as secondary information aswell?
This information displayed in the tooltip of capacitor volume.
Originally by: NoNah - There are two values called defence? What does those mean? Same thing with Firepower?
Firepower section shows DPS and Volley damage. Volley damage shown only for turrets or missiles or smartbombs, not altogether.
Defence and effective HP are terms that really need to be explained. Effective HP is your hitpoints with resistances taken into account. Defence is amount of DPS setup can tank. Bottom value is your tanking efficiency when you run your booster\repairer on autorepeat and upper value is your tanking efficiency when you turn on your booster\repairer from time to time to not allow your capacitor to fall below peek recharge point.

Originally by: NoNah Oh, and the option to import through .xml would be great.
I disabled such option. CCP are going to remove ability to export XML soon so only valid way to get your skills would be through API.
Originally by: NoNah Might be quite an undertaking, but adding a ew-calculator would be sweet aswell.
There is ew-calculator. Press "Projected Effects" button and drag modules there from fitting panel (won't take skills into account) or from another opened setup window. On the screenshot in first post you can see Curse dampening and nossing Zealot. For jammers chance to jam will be shown in caption of "Targeting" box.
Originally by: Redora A quick name-change of all the faction ammos so the two equivilant factions are represented (Serpentis/Guristas for hybrid ammo, for instance.)
I specifically excluded half of faction ammo because they have same stats as the other half and would just overcrowd menu.

Originally by: NoNah Then again that might just be beacuse I dont understand. No clue how to make one ships effects appear on the other, without simulating it(IE using twice as many noses as the curse can actually fit due to a 100% bonus).
Open Curse. Fit it with nos. Open another ship which will be the target. Open "projected effects" on target setup. Drag nos from curse module list to target's projected effects. That way all bonuses will apply. If you do this with dampeners or tracking disruptors they will be stacking penalized.
Originally by: Kellyl Im using windows Vista (laptop came with it, sucks tbh) and I dont see the fitting panel.
I can turn it on and off, but othing appears except a slim empty bar at the left side of the proggy.
I've had a problem when panel just don't show up as a result of program crash. You can try to delete config.ini in program directory and thus reset all settings. If this does not help then it may be a Vista what causing problem. You also may try to edit config.ini and change FittingPanel_Locked=0 to FittingPanel_Locked=1.

Originally by: Xeliya Peak cap is a bit off. Should be (Cap/Recharge)*2.5 Cap ran dry when I was 10 under peak but is fine with the method I put and holds at 30-35%
According to this guide as well as my own experience is 2.4, not 2.5
Originally by: Xeliya It would also be nice to have a button to search all items and not need to keep chaning from normal/facion.
You can select multiple module filter buttons at once by control-clicking them.
Originally by: Father Calistas An item bar (think Photoshop) on the right with ships and characters you've got hotlisted would be super. Or something similar. I like to go back to the same design over and over and fiddle and it's slow opening the ship browser and finding it etc etc.
There is always a tradeoff between usability and overcluttering interface. I thought about such thing by myself before but can't promise anything. Btw you can speed up opening setups a little by double clicking somewhere in main window workspace. This will open ship browser (just like open dialog in Photoshop ).
Originally by: Simon Illian when i like the ability to set gang bonus (fleet / wing / squad), could we specified the ship & gang bonus used (taken from a saved ship config maybe) ?
When you open setup with gang links fitted it becames available for selecting in all setup windows under "Bonuses from ship".
Originally by: Karim alRashid Sadly, I still prefer QuickFit for the cap usage simulator.
Unless there's an analogous functionality hidden somewhere in this tool too ?
Capacitor box caption shows how long your setup can run all active modules. It's the same simulation done every time you change setup but only final result is shown.
I have a question to those who have corrupted images bug: is it affects only interface images or module icons too?

Originally by: Torgor I keep running into an issue where the far right hand side of my ship dispaly is cut off. I can't see anything beyond the Explosive resist Icon. It is also clipping the words down at the bottom a little bit. The fitting panel and the Character panel shows up great.
Can you post a screen please?
Originally by: Xeliya My peak should be 42.5 but the program is giving me 52.4
Nos? Any cap you get from Nosferatu, Cap Injector or Energy Transfer Array through Projected Effects is added to recharge rate.

I've just checked all Damnation bonuses and they're working fine. The bug may be with gun and not the ship. Which one are you trying to fit?
Originally by: commander tycho I put in the API key and User ID. It comes up with the choose character screen. I then click commander tycho and ok but i get an error saying;

Originally by: Zeleznick Greystall Ive fitted Heavy Beam Laser II and Heavy Pulse Laser II. The bonus doesnt show under the modules "affected by" tab either.
Bonus in EFT is set to 5% per level as stated in ship description and working OK but in data import it's 10% per level. I don't have Damnation on Tranquility and can't log onto Sisi now to check. If you can make sure that bonus is 10% and not 5% you should bug report error in the description.
BTW: "Affected By" shows only direct Skill-To-Module bonus and does not list bonuses from ship.
Originally by: La FemmeFata Nice program. but pls can someone tell me how i can import my char details? it asks for API whatever that is, and my user ID?

Working fine for me. May be you got same error reported earlier with Carrier skill not being imported propertly?

Originally by: Kazuo Ishiguro 'Time to warp' calculation would be very useful; the formula is
TTW = -ln(0.2) * agility * mass / 1000000
I am thinking about implementing some way to display agility and mass but this formula is quite wrong for heavy ships. For example Damnation with four 1600mm tech 2 plates aligns in 23.5 - 24 seconds and not 27.25, while for the Jaguar your formula is perfectly accurate.
Originally by: Slasher Arcana Hi Gripen.
I tried ur EFT but after typing in the API key EFT says "Connection Failed". No problem using EVEMon (the API version) tho.
Probably because of you are using proxy. I hope I'll make it work with proxy in the next version.
Originally by: Damfoose Found small probs though ship requirements for some modules are not being taken into consideration. Try fitting a Rook or Falcon with cov ops cloak and the cloak is taking 1000 cpu not the 99% reduction !
Rook can't use Covert Ops cloak, Falcon bonus works.
Originally by: Watcher Four "Include reload time" function does not affect cap boosters.
Cap Boosters always take reload time into consideration. It is by the design.
Originally by: Ash Vincetti I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but the bomb launcher I in your program uses a launcher slot, while according to the in-game "show info", the bomb launcher I does not use a launcher slot (it fits the same as probe launchers). This makes it impossible to fit 3x cruise + 1x bomb launcher in EFT, while it should be possible to do so on TQ.
Bomb Launcher takes missile slot on TQ as well.

Originally by: Parhelion I have two ship setups which I'm playing with. One is an absolution and one is a nighthawk. The defense values are 394 and 343 respectively. Which seems to indicate the abso setup will tank better, however, the tooltip information when you hover over the defense values indicates
For the abso: 237, 621, 861, 316 For the nighthawk: 146, 694, 1655!, 364
How are the 'summary' defense values calculated from the above? It doesn't appear to be an average. I would also think the nighthawk value should be higher than the abso given the huge difference in kinetic dps (all other resists are quite close).
It is an average. But if you just summ all individual values and divide them by 4 you'll get wrong result. Forumla is the same as with effective hitpoints but instead of amount of hitpoints you use amount of hitpoints per second you repairers can repair.
DefenceEff = HP_Per_Second/(1 -AverageResist) AverageResist = (ResistEM +ResistThermal +ResistKinetic +ResistExplosive)/4
Originally by: Parhelion Also, I find it hard to believe the kin dps different between the two setups (861 compared to 1655!) given similar resists (91 and 94 respectively - bear in mind one is armor other is shield).
That's the basics of eve math =) The higher your resistance is, the greater effect you get from every single percent of it. 50% resistance give you twice better protection than 0% resistance, as well as 99.5% gives you twice better than 99%.
Originally by: Mdram does the program autoupdate itself? or how will we know when a new version is available?
Some people don't like to allow it to connect to eve-online to fetch the skills, let alone checking for updates on some arbitrary site - which I wouldn't allow by myself. Just check this thread from time to time, I'll update it's name when new version became available.

Originally by: Tonto Auri But that archive contains only truecolor icons. When I start EFT, I got "Cannot open file "***\EFT\Icons\AMMO_ELECTRONBOMB.ico".
It's how it should be. Highcolor icons will be generated on EFT startup. Errors you describe must be coming from wrong installation. Looks like you copied new data files but kept old exe file. Extract archive contents in some new directory and copy there your old config.ini, Characters and Setups folders.

Originally by: Phoenix T'ril I wonder if you could provide some information about the 'defence efficiency' values, and configuring the custom profiles that have appeared in 2.1.
I kinda miss having my em / therm / kin / exp tooltip.
I thought it's pretty straightforward. Instead of uniform distribution of incoming damage you can now define you own damage type ratio preset which will affect both defence efficiency and effective HP calculations. If you want to know your tank efficiency against some explicit damage type (like it was shown in the tooltip before) you can create "Only EM", "Only Thermal" and so on presets.

Originally by: Esk Bedwyr Every time i try to start the program the first thing that pops up is something that resembles an error box with the character □ and it makes an error noise when I click ok. Nothing loads in EFT All options are empty and if I try to close EFT I get the following error message: " Access violation at address 004B430B in module 'EFT.exe'. Read of address 00000040. " Program was working fine then just started doing this. I have reinstalled it three times so far. same thing every time.
EFT doesn't save anything besides config.ini in it's directory and setup\character files so if it was working in the first time it should work when you unzip it into the new folder. Just don't reuse config.ini or setup\character files which might be corrupted for some reason and preventing it from starting up propertly. That's the only explanation I can think of in situation you described.

Originally by: Cedric Diggory Whilst I can understand your hesitance to open source the client, would it be possible to release information on how to edit the ship and module data files (if this is even possible)? This would mean that we could all "modify" our versions independently when updates come out, and even attempt such things as modifying the attributes on ships and modules to see how certain changes would effect the balance of the game.
The dat files not meant to be edited. I use debug version of EFT which gets its data from simple text files and can compile set of .dat files for release version. Of course debug version loads slowly and not supposed for end users. I could introduce some way to edit database but I prefer to develop more usefull features instead.

Concerning cap recharge issues: QuickFit uses 2.45*CapacitorCapacity/CapacitorRecharge, EFT uses 2.4 and adds any cap you get from nosferatus to it. If you compare your nos equpped setup from EFT with one in EVE make sure that to nos someone who has more cap than you are.
Originally by: TheBelgarion Copy item, e.g. you have 2 BCS fitted ... and you remove one to replace it with a PDS so you search for the PDS ... now you decide PDS sucks and want your second BCS back .. so you have to search for it again ... ( rather than simple copy the item from the other slot.
You can copy item. Drag to the another slot with right mouse button and you'll be given an option to copy it.

Originally by: Kamoonga Okay, forgive the stupidity, but how do you actually use this thing? I unzipped the files to a folder on the desktop. Right away WinZip complains about having to overwrite a CPU icon, but I let it do so. Then, I try to launch the .exe and get an "invalid filename" error. Hit OK to get out of that and the proggie window opens. Hover over the lefthand window and try to search for a ship, and I get "Access violation at address 004Ag783 in module 'EFT.exe'. Read of address 00000000."
Open ship browser and click on a blank square, and I get "invalid index" again. OK out of that and a setup window opens but throws another access violation.
WTH am I doing wrong?
Did you install .net ? I think it is required for EFT, is it not?
EFT does not use .net
If you are upgrading from older version you should try to unzip to a new folder and if it works copy there your characters and setups subfolders from old version as well as config.ini. If you are using EFT for the first time this may be either a corrupted archive because of some issues with downloading or your WinZip.

Originally by: SeismicForce With a hulk, my ice miner II's show a duration of 280.5 seconds in EFT, and in-game they are 330 seconds. (No implants, no mining upgrades, exhumers at level IV)
It is very possible that there are some errors with mining barges bonuses. I can't fly and test them so I get info about their bonuses only from description and database parameters.
There is a -3% duration bonus stated in the database which I thought is the equivalent of 3% yield bonus of strip miners for ice harvesters. Probably my assumptation here was wrong and all barges (T1 and T2) in EFT getting -3% duration of Ice Harvesters per Mining Barge level which they don't have in EVE.
If someone can test and confirm it I'll fix this in the next version.

I've just tested cap and shield recharge on sisi and found where my mistake was. I always thought that peak is at 33% while it is at 29.5% actually according to recharge formula and tests proved it. On the other hand recharge formula used in EFT wrong on peak recharge value assuming it to be 2.4 instead of 2.5. The reason it wasn't discovered is that it's only 4% difference and for most PvP setups (which are not cap stable), used by me for initial tests of capacitor calculation, this difference is just a few seconds and assumed to be within experimental error margin.

Are you sure you updated everything right because this error must be fixed in 2.4.1? You can check your EFT version in main menu > Help > About. Also, the cause of old error was "Include reload time in DPS" option. Switching on\off affects error appearance in your case?
Originally by: Hugh Ruka I tried to make s Widow setup (with L5 skills default character). After fitting a jump portal generator (the covert version), there is no reduction in fitting for it overshoots into red on all.

Originally by: Dracborne Is there anyway to make EFT pull it's proxy settings from the browser? Manual settings aren't working correctly at work.
EFT should get it's proxy settings from the browser but proxy authentication is not supported so far.
Regarding wrong capacitor calculation: if EFT reports that you can run longer than you actually can make sure that you have no nosferatus active because they are also accounted in cap balance. Also you should check your capacitor capacity and cap recharge time from EFT to much numbers ingame as well as compare activation costs and cycle duration times of all cap-consuming modules - that way you can pinpoint the source of the problem. --- There is no Amarr problem. |

Originally by: Raz Gulderoi In order to do a sanity check and ensure that its EFT that is wrong I checked a Hyperion, completely unfitted, and with no skills. According to EFT you get a recharge rate of 12.
This is incorrect. The correct value is 7200/1500 = 4.8.
EFT shows peak recharge rate which is 2.5*Capacitor_Capacity/Recharge_Time, and not average recharge.
Originally by: BCBArclight Possible bug in the speed calculation.
I tried this on my curse and malediction, I used various setups and on all accounts the speed quoted by EFT was alot faster than ingame, its possible they have change the ship attributes to what EFT was set to use or the calculation to fiqure it out is off.
I need exact setup to reproduce the bug. Are you sure this error doesn't come from "Always apply leadership skills" option in EFT while in EVE you are testing outside of the gang?
Originally by: Marak Bon The DPS gague: if you fit missiles and turrets, it only calculates one(always the turrets i believe), thats not such a big problem.
You are probably talking about volley damage and not DPS. It is by the design that is shows volley from turrets only if there is any.
Originally by: Marak Bon Torp Range: I have 3 rigs on my raven(2 x flight time, 1 x speed), a 5% speed hardwiring for missiles, and the range is about 3km off what EFT says it should be, i think one of hte figures in EFT is miscalculating(or with the new rules isnt applied) - although i cannot tell you which, im not sure. Im pretty sure its NOT the implant, as i was getting a similar problem before but didnt have time to test with corp mates.
Missile range in EFT is multiplication of missile speed and flight time. In EVE real range is slightly less but I do not consider it a bug. Also, make sure you are using 2.4.1 version because in 2.4 missile flight time rigs had no stacking penalty applied to them. --- There is no Amarr problem. |

Can somebody who gets parsing error upload APIError.txt somewhere and post a link here or (if you don't want your skills\wallet balance viewed by the others) mail a link to me ingame?
Originally by: Tamia Clant By the way Gripen, EFT has incorrect attributes for capacitor flux coils. If I recall correctly, the modules remove a % of your total capacitor, and increase your recharge rate. The current EFT version has the module reduce both total capacitor and recharge rate. Basically the CAPRECHARGE value needs to be positive, not negative. The same problem seems to be present with shield flux coils, but I haven't taken the time to test it.
Maybe it was not the best way to name it but CAPRECHARGE is a capacitor recharge time and lower is better.
Originally by: Reiisha I haven't read all 41 pages, but i think the general cap recharge is too generous, unless the peak recharge suddenly became 2.5 instead of 2.4. Where did this new number come from?
Peak recharge was changed to 2.5 in the last version after series of ingame tests.

Originally by: AlienHand Connection failed...

There are a lot of possible reasons to it: you can have problems with your internet connection or your firewall blocking EFT access to it. Or EVE API service could not work at the time you were trying.
Originally by: Arenthia D'naga I'm having trouble importing my character. I get the API key and enter character ID (numeric, 6 characters) and the API key (copy/pasted, no spaces at the start or end) and hit connect and it comes up as below.

Originally by: Y3R M4W I'd be interested to know how EFT handles sending the proxy request. I want to tunnel through a SOCKS5 proxy using EFT, however it seems to be setup only to handle HTTP proxies. My solution to **** would be to setup a temporary local server imitating a HTTP proxy, tunneling the request through the SOCKS5 proxy, and returning the result. Alternatively SOCKS Proxy support could be a nice feature
As with any feature it depends on how much people will ask for it and how difficult is it to implement.
I'm not very familiar with web-related programming and I wrote api import code using examples I found in the net so it may be possible that my answer isn't what you actually need.
If proxy is enabled POST request send to specified proxy server with header formatted as follows 'POST http://api.eve-online.com/account/Characters.xml.aspx HTTP/1.0' +#13#10 +'Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded' +#13#10 +'Host: api.eve-online.com' +#13#10 +'Content-Length: ' +IntToStr(15 +Length(Edit_UserID.Text) +Length(Edit_APIKey.Text)) +#13#10#13#10 +'userid=' +Edit_UserID.Text +'&apikey=' +Edit_APIKey.Text

Originally by: Mr Krosis I like some of the new features in 2.5, but I'm curious what formula you are using for the targeting time display?
It doesn't seem to be the "original" 10000/scanres/asinh(sigrad) formula, and it doesn't seem to be the newer one we reverse engineered either. It looks like it shows a targeting time that is faster than it should be, especially for larger size targets.
I've used following formula: (15882 -1804*Ln(SigRad))/(ScanRes*asinh(SigRad)). Can't remember where does it came from because it has been sticking in my "to do" list for quite a while. It gave me a good results so if you think it is wrong I need a report with more definite numbers.
Originally by: Sky Marshal EFT 2.5 has an annoying bug > Open a setup, go to an another software (or minimize EFT), then return to EFT.
EFT can not be used anymore, because the left click of the mouse can't interact (left column don't want add an item or expand a category, I can't delete a fitted item, etc...), and the taskbar remains grey (like EFT is totally frezzed).
Never had such behavior. What OS are you using? Also if you getting this all the time you can try to disable price queries because they are one of the few really new things in 2.5 and if you have this problem only with 2.5 then they could be the cause.

Originally by: Chribba Just a friendly heads up Gripen. I think you should include the MD5 signature of the EXE and ZIP in your OP, I've been noticing users uploading repacks of EFT onto EVE-Files but with trojans in the EXE, I do my best to remove and block them per auto but there's still a risk of such packages ending up on other sites as well.
So just a suggestion to include the MD5 signatures on the EXE and ZIP (EVE-Files now display the ZIP/RAR signatures upon download).
I don't think that people who don't know basic rules of internet security and download something from random sources know what MD5 signature is or bother to check it. But thanks for your info - I've added a warning to the first page.

Originally by: Revocks Bishop #2 Every time I open up EFT, regardless of if I close it, end it, or leave it running, an extra EFT.exe process is running in the background and it's taking up usually a decent chunk of CPU. I'm not sure if this process is the thing that grabs the prices off the market or whatnot, but the only way to get rid of it is to end it directly. If I open multiple copies of EFT, then multiple processes stick around.
I can't comment about Vista and it's process manager as I've never had a chance to test it but things you describe definitely does not sound right. EFT creates separate thread for price queries but it is created only when some prices are about to be updated and terminated once such update is finished. This is a thread within a program and not a separate process so it's impossible for it to keep running after EFT is closed.
I suggest you to do a virus check or search your PC for this "other" EFT.exe file.

Originally by: Jacqueri Calroszian Great tool, but I'm just curious as to why my Sentinel is price-tagged at 155,000,000 without even being fitted?
I hope it's not taking the average price from around every region, as there were two sell orders in Jita for 11.5bil and 9bil. It looks like these are skewing the price of it a great deal.
Is it possible to add a feature in the future to set the Region/Constellation/Solar System/Station price of your ship fitting?
Right now Eve-central provides only average price for items on such requests. It's possible to set a region but I doubt that this will help because such overpriced orders are quite common.

Originally by: Elisa Day Is it possible to apply boosters somehow? If so, how? If not: why not?

Originally by: Korana Kortova I have a couple of suggestions.
1. I like that you can get a price update for the items in the database, but the items only update when you load a setup with the item in it, or when you add an item to a new setup. 2. I'd love to see the tool automatically update all item prices when one is updated. 3. Alternately, I'd love to see a button that lets you force an update for the prices of all items in the database from the evecentral website.
This will greatly increase load on Eve-central and will be quite a slow process. And what's the point of having a price for items you don't use in your fits?

In many cases , reading the STOP error number and the error type (I.e : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) is sufficient to quickly find where the problem is. there are as well a series of 4 numbers inside parenthesis on the bottom of the bluescreen information, write them down and do a google.
That is basically what I was going to tell.
Originally by: Danae Melios OK, this is becoming extremely annoying to me. I inputted my character months ago by hand. Heat simulation column designed to hide when there is no overloaded modules. In your case it may stay hidden all the time because of some malfunction. Try to close EFT and remove "Setups_ColumnSizes=..." line from config.ini to reset column settings.

I was able to reproduce this and will try to fix that later.
Originally by: nutbar Ah, upon further investigation, I think I've found the problem - it's with the user skill calculations. Take the Retribution for example - base speed of 240m/s which is both correct in EVE and EFT. However, applying all level 5 skills to the ship, EFT reports it should go 330m/s, but in reality it only goes 300m/s. So, somewhere in the calculation of speed with regards to character skills, there's an error which is causing speeds higher than they really should be.
10% speed difference looks like to come from Skirmish Warfare skill. Don't you have "Always apply leadership skills" option enabled?

Thanks but a friend of mine with Vista pc and same error done all the testing I needed. On my own pc with WinXP SP2 everything works fine.
Things don't work after the error because default error handling prevents some code execution after the line which generates error. If I don't let default error handler to handle the error I think that all the rest of code will execute propertly.

Originally by: Krimhild Hi,
thx for this wonderful tool and the brand new version, and here comes the first bug report
The dominix shows me 150 m/s speed but eve gives me only 123 m/s
I double checked for imps or other stuff which could influence the results ...
Greetings Krim
Damn, you're right. Base speeds for quite a few ships were not updated for some reason. I'll fix it asap. |

Confirming that I'm working on the update. Ability to change ship slot layout with t3 subsystems is something what wasn't available in EVE before, so EFT and its data architecture were not designed for this. Making it possible requires quite a few rewrites in different parts of code.

2.10.1 version hotfixing all reported bugs is available.
Originally by: "ElanMorin6" Just FYI though, your second download mirror (filefactory) is trying to install malware on my computer. Dunno if it's just one of their advertising partners or not but it was rather annoying.
What made you think that? I've just downloaded it using IE and my antivirus didn't said anything. No popups have opened and it's very unlikely to me that a well known file sharing site could have something wrong on their page itself.
Originally by: "Groox" Great update indeed, but you lost leadership related bonuses.
There is no option in preferences any more to apply always those skills :(
It was intentionally removed as redundant and source of false bugreports. On every Setups window you have three commander slots below setup parameters where you can select a character or a ship which will provide gang bonuses.

Apocrypha 1.2 version available.
Originally by: Anarr Vinjen i can't add rigs to falcon anymore,... haven't checked other ships...
Install a new copy of EFT. Such issues may arise when mixing *.dat files from different versions (you need to replace every file even if their size didn't changed from previous version).
Originally by: Roland Deschaines The DPS graph seems to work erratically. It doesn't take into account Sig Radius / Sig Resolution. Also, sometimes there's unexplained sudden drops in DPS at certain ranges (not due to missiles, but I have no idea what's causing it). Also, when overheating, it shows only how long the modules can take it before being offlined, not how long before the rack overheats and all modules are disabled, which usually happens first.
DPS graph do take into account signature radius and resolution. Drops in DPS can came from drone range or web\painter optimal ranges. When rack heat reaches maximum level modules are taking damage at every cycle - not disabled all together.
Originally by: Barakkus I would love to see the cap simulation from quickfit in eft.
Implementing capacitor simulation in the way it was done in Quickfit would require a very clumsy interface. Also it is a very inconvenient to use while I can't see any advantages such simulation could give.
Originally by: Rollthor Plus the Speed with the MWD turned on is shown at 3.2k wihtin EFT. the real ingame Speed is only a bit more than 1.2k.
Looking at this huge speed difference may I suggest that ingame you have Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters fitted which are afterburners and not an MWD.
Originally by: Myestra Popovich i had a suggestion that would make EFT extremely helpful for wormhole explorers/pvpers. what im think is a specific option that allows to apply all the specific wormhole system effects to your EFT ship
This is planned.

to Samurayo
For EVE or EFT to be able to import fit from XML file it must be saved to the <MyDocuments>\EVE\fittings where <MyDocuments> is "C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents" in case of XP or "C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents" for Vista.
This path should be default for exporting fit to XML but it is possible that there would be no "fittings" folder because EVE does not create one until some fit exported from the game.
In the next EFT version such case will be handled and "fittings" folder created if it doesn't exist so default saving location will be correct.

To D3vastator EFT uses port 80. You may want to enable price updating in EFT preferences to check if price queries will work or not. If they do then it's API server which is not working at the moment or you are encountered some rare bug in EFT. If they won't then it's your software and\or hardware which are blocking EFT connections.
Originally by: indiana amarr I have an issue with amarr damnation.
First it shows around more active 10K hp then i currently have, 15% more in EM resistances and several our odities.
If you are talking about differences in effective hp in EFT and EVE then check FAQ.txt in EFT folder.
About the rest - you must be more preciese and tell a fit you have problems with. Minor differences in resistances may come from recently appeared bug with active hardeners in EVE.
To Filofox For EVE or EFT to be able to import fit from XML file it must be saved to the <MyDocuments>\EVE\fittings where <MyDocuments> is "C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents" in case of XP or "C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents" for Vista.

Originally by: D3vastator I went into Preferences & set 'Price synchronization' to 1 day, but it's not pulling the prices from the web, they're all still set to zero.
If both price queries and API doesn't work for you then it's probably because of your firewall blocking EFT.
Originally by: Abrazzar Just found a slight error in EFT concerning Micro Auxiliary Power Cores. EFT does not take Engineering into account when adding the powergrid bonus while EVE does so.

Originally by: Martok Kemarrin I've tried using the DPS graph thing for about a week or so and it never shows me anything. I'm probably not doing something right but figured I'd check on here. Is there something that I need to select before I click on the dps graph? If so, what is it? Otherwise, what is going on that's not letting me use it?
Add at least one attacker and one target to the graph using right-click menu of the list left to the graph. You need to have setups opened for them to appear in this menu.
Originally by: Galmalmin All Level 5 Character... I accidentally deleted him, do I have to reinstall EFT to get him back
You can extract from EFT archive "All level V.chr" file and place it in the Characters folder in EFT directory.
To Disunia Vertas and Liasan Vyl Such changes are planned but not as minor tweaks but as a parts of major updates to the DPS graphs and Ship Browser. But I have no ETA when it will be ready.

Stealth bombers can no longer fit cruise missile launchers in game.
Originally by: Vladimir Dragov My EFT totally crashed, giving me Invalid Filename error reports and being completely blank when opened.
Invalid Filename error means what EFT couldn't find its files. You haven't extracted all the files for archive or didn't included relative paths.
Originally by: DmitryEKT firstly, the heat timer seems to think that an empty rack dissapates heat far better than a rack full of modules, passive, offline, or otherwise. this is incorrect. secondly, eft shows that separate racks- ie, high/mid/low, affect each other's heat stats. this is also very incorrect.
Why do you think this is incorrect?
Originally by: DmitryEKT thirdly, would be nice if you could add a heat timer with active repairs on passive mods based on skills- ie, if you have an armor rep and an eanm, you can overheat the armor rep, then immediately start repping the eanm as it takes damage- this is an additional way of removing heat damage and means you can keep going for longer- and there is no way to account for this in eft at the moment.
Repairing non-overheaded modules won't change anything because overheated modules still will die first.
Originally by: Joe Starbreaker how does one display the "overheated" stats in EFT?
Right click green checkmark to the left of the module icon.

I found "hit quality theory" to be a misconception. When it was first presented tests used to prove it had insufficient data pool to be accurate. Official tracking guide said nothing about hit quality affecting DPS while this evelopedia article is quite a new to me and I don't know if it can be treated as official even if it was approved by whoever approving those articles.
So cases when you get lower DPS than "classical" formula (used in EFT) predicts might came from: 1) Insufficient test data pool - the lower your accuracy is (due to falloff or tracking) the more damage is dealt with the wrecking shots and as you get one wrecking per one hundred of shots you need to have at least 10000 shots in the test to get accurate results. 2) There was a "last charge" bug which used to reduce DPS because last charge in the clip didn't apply its bonuses to the gun (range bonuses on termor\barrage for example). It was fixed quite recently so the people who were doing their tests some time ago were probably affected by this. 3) Actually, tracking formula was changed recently in the way that there is no damage dealt at optimal +2*falloff while before you used to do about 6% of DPS at that range. This lead to overall reduction of damage in falloff and this change will be reflected in EFT.

Originally by: Seriously Bored I've been thinking about running a test to either put the last nail in the coffin, or show it's conclusively true. Since the gap in damage is large enough (roughly 38% VS 50% in predictions at optimal + falloff), you wouldn't think a sample size smaller than 10,000 would start to show a trend one way or the other? Say, 3 to 5 thousand?
You need to ask someone who is better at probability math than me but anything less than 5000 shots looks completely wrong to me.
Tracking formula I think currently used in game is: ChanceToHit = TrackingFactor*DistanceFactor, where TrackingFactor = 0.5^((Transversal*Signature_Resolution/(Tracking*Distance*Target_Signature))^2) DistanceFactor = 0.5^((Max(0,Distance-Optimal)/Falloff)^2) -0.03125*Max(0,Distance-Optimal)/Falloff

Originally by: Lin Xiao 2. Exporting the same fit to XML a second time results in EFT appending a duplicate listing to the existing XML file for the ship in question. This borks Eve's Fitting Manager import utility (results in no fits being displayed for that ship). Please update EFT to pre-check the target XML file for fits with the same name and prompt to overwrite the old fit instead of simply appending.
If you trying to import fit into XML file which already contains similary named setup EFT should replace old setup with the new one and not append a second copy. I've tried to reproduce behavior you describe but for me everything works like it's supposed to.

Originally by: fab24 bump, and I found a bug, you can fitt and active 6 drone control units on titan/dominix (haven't tested other) but not on mother ships.
You can't fit Drone Control Units to any ship except Carriers and Motherships due to CPU constrains so additional restriction on amount of active at the same time would be quite useless. On the Carriers and Motherships amount you can activate 5 DCUs at the same time as well as in EVE.
Originally by: 1600 RT DPS numbers are higher in 2.11, all my ships gained some extra dps

Originally by: Z010 Last I had downloaded was 2.10.4 - has something changed with the ship display? It just keeps getting wider. I cannot get it to be smaller in width and, well, very annoying...
If you are reffering to setup parameters panel width when it can be changed now by dragging border between this panel and module list. If you are talking about something else I'd like you to be more specific.
Originally by: Koshou There seems to be a minor display glitch where toggling the new "Stats" button off does not actually redraw the window without the stats panel -- it seems to remain there until you actually move the window around a little bit, or move your mouse over things. Originally by: velocity7 1. Large Core Defence Operational Solidifer doesn't seem to have an effect on Capital Shield Booster Is, while still affecting a dreadnought's signature radius. Is this how it also works in-game?
This rig doesn't affect Capital Shield Boosters so whatever signature radius penalty applies or not is irrelevant as there is no much sense in fitting this rig on the capital ship. But I'm pretty sure about signature penalty always working because there are no other module-to-ship bonuses which affect one ship type but not affect the others.

Originally by: Boonya**** I just noticed that skirmish warfare link - interdiction maneuvers -module does not change the optimal range of lets say warp disruptor II for example when they are fit into a same battlecruiser. Even with all level V character selected. It used to work in older versions of EFT. Also you cannot drag & drop the warfare module to the projected effects tab.
Now you need to make setup with gang link a fleet, wing or squad commander for gang bonuses to take effect.
Originally by: Lobster Man I haven't noticed it in the change notes, and I don't have eve handy to check actual values, but were the active hardener resists changed to reflect the fix that was applied to TQ a while ago?
# A bug was introduced in Apocrypha 1.3 where the passive bonus of active hardeners was applied when the module was active. This has been fixed, and the passive bonus will no longer apply when armor or shield hardeners are active.
EFT didn't used to simulate this bug so no fix for it required either.
Originally by: Wa'roun There seems to be a bug with Vista (x64) when you right click a slot to perhaps move/copy or what ever, the pointer snaps over to the left side. Very annoying. ... Changed to 2.11 and still has this problem. I hate having to expand sideways for drone section too. I also miss being able to double click to delete a mod.
EFT does not contain any code which manipulates mouse pointer position so unless someone else encounters this problem it's safe to assume that this isn't EFT fault. Ability to delete a module by doubleclicking is there and should work fine.

Version 2.11.1 available.
Regarding tracking formula: I've done some tests and now getting similar results. Still planning to do some more so 2.11.1 still uses old formula.
About drone window: it's not a waste of space as this panel is planned to accomodate cargo bay as well in future and it's impossible to introduce new features while staying in the limits of old window size. Last version includes a workaround for the bug when closed drone panel does not refreshes image behind it. It looks ugly because of flickering but I hope it's just a temporary solution. Btw, have anyone who uses Vista tried XP compatibility mode?

Originally by: DeputyFruitfly v2.11.1 doesn't appear to re-calculate point distance correctly with gang link in wing command from another ship setup.
Maybe imdoinitwrong, but I set up in eft:
1) a ship with all level5, and a recon operation ganglink 2) an all level5 arazu with warp disruptor2 fit
Recon Operation link increases range of ECM, Tracking Disruptors, Painters and Sensor Dampeners. Link which increases range of warp disruptors and webs called "Skirmish Warfare Link - Interdiction Maneuvers".
Originally by: Jeremaiah Hello. I like EFT it's a very handy tool. However today I was upgrading my mining Osprey to use T2 mining lasers. I fit 3 t2 mining lasers, and 3 civilian shield boosters and other mods as needed. I disabled the modules in EFT that would not continuously run, and I selected my imported character. It says the cap is stable at 36%. However in the game, the cap runs out. I'm only running the boosters and mining lasers. I want to provide more info but other than sharing xml files i don't know how.
You can check activation cost and cycle duration for every active module on your fit as well as capacitor capacity and capacitor recharge time of the ship ingame and compare them to EFT values to find where the error is. Also this mismatch may came from the limitation of calculation algorithm in EFT which becames noticable if when you have barely stable setup. In this case it is recommended to not activate all your modules in EVE at once so your capacitor wouldn't be drained in big chunks and will last longer.
Originally by: JordanParey Just out of curiosity, is there any way you could find out how much DPS a single gate gun does and then add it to projected effects?
This may help for people who are piratey and trying to tank gate guns.
I thought what every pirate knows how much damage gate guns do =). And those who don't can find this out on any site with EVE database. IIRC they do not have any tracking problems so there is no point of adding them into EFT as you can simply compare your defence to their DPS.
Originally by: Liang Nuren Another interesting bug is that drone damage doesn't include tracking/sig res (always assumes full damage), and target painters are simply assumed stop working entirely at optimal.
Strictly speaking those are not a bugs. There is just no reliable way to display probability-based falloff mechanics on the graphs. Only way I can think of would involve the separating graph into two "branches" but this poses slight technical difficulties which will greatly increase if there will be more than one such module. And drone behavior is much more complex than just tracking and needs to account for a lot of different cases in relation of drone mwd speed, drone orbit speed and target speed which makes their actual DPS almost impossible to calculate.
Originally by: Vibramycin I experienced a similar thing with ECM modules. When I put them under projected effects, it does nothing to the attacking ship (ie no DPS reduction)... is there a way to see the overall expectation value (average) of the DPS when the shooter is being hit with ECM?
Jam probability is shown in the caption of "Targeting" groupbox of the setup once you have jamming modules or drones projected.
Originally by: Azar Javedd I don't know if I'm not understanding something correctly here, but it seems as if many implants don't affect the stats of my ship fittings in EFT...
If you have same implant set in Character Editor and listed in setup implants clicking on the checkbox should yield no result as setup implant overrides character implant and if you disable it character implant starts to work giving the same effect. Defence value may haven't changed because of difference shield recharging implant gives is a quite small and may be unnoticable if your fit haven't been geared towards passive tank.

That would be even more wrong than the current results as it may make people to believe what EW in falloff works in the same way as with turrets.
And as the person whose favorite ship class is assault frigates I can say what heavy drones and fighters can literally shred you in no time when you use afterburner because they won't orbit but chase after you enjoying almost zero transversal. At least they used to... Recently saw completly different behavior from the light drones shooting interceptor.

Originally by: Laughlyn Vaughns Just curious as to where did the Luther LSE's come from?
tried typing them into contracts on both sisi and tranq and all that comes up are his head and tag (commodities)
Whatever or not item can be found in the contracts can not be used as a hint of item availability in the game. But in this case item doesn't exists probably.
To Bayleran, Spawinte EFT shows average price for the item. In the case of Brutix someone placed 3 of them for sale at 26b each and this is skewed the average.
Originally by: Caldari Citizen4714 Does EFT still display the effects of gang bonuses?
I seem to remember being able to, but now I can't figure out how.
On the right side of Setups Window, below the setup parameters there are a three lines showing currently selected gang boosters. Right-click them to select one.
To NightmareX I didn't made market tabs to switch automaticly according to search results because I'm afraid of it would be confusing to the users especially when quite a lot of people don't notice those filter buttons from the beginning.
Imagine what you are browsing through the tree with the "market" category selected and then use search to find some faction module so the "faction" category becames active instead. Now if you go back to the tree and select some other group... should the category revert to the pre-search "market" status or should it stay as the "faction"? It could be annoying in the both ways as if it reverts then it will be like you have "faction" category and expect it to show you faction modules from the newly selected group but it switches and shows "market". If it stays with the automaticly selected category then it will result to the search messing with your filter selection and you'll have to readjust it every time you find something with the search.
Ofcourse I can make all those cases handled by separate user adjustable options but I don't think this would be an elegant solution.

Judging from the numbers you are using 800mm Repeating Artilleries and your machariel has some projectile rig fitted which increases powergrid requirements for projectile weapons.

Originally by: Blithar Statistics are out slightly, example EFT says I have just over 3 minuets of cap, but in game it says I have just under 3 minutes.
It's impossible to implement absolutely correct simulation without bulky interface additions which will be used very rarely. Both EFT and ingame capacitor balance are just approximations and minor differences seen as acceptable.
Originally by: Amari Griseldis When applying environmental effects, it seems the stats of the ship aren't updated correctly. Take Cataclysmic Variable for example. The ship does get the capacitor bonus, but the recharge rate stays the same.
It's working as intended for me. Make sure you are not confusing "capacitor recharge time" with "capacitor recharge rate". Cataclysmic Variable increases ship capacitor capacity and capacitor recharge time which makes recharge rate stay the same.

Originally by: Calixtra Anybody else having issues putting mods on ships? I can delete them fine, but can't double click or drag a mod onto the ship now. The particular ship I was working with is the Gila, mods were beta reactor control shield power relays and shield recharger II's
You can't fit anything while you have wrong amount of turrets\launchers. I bet Gila's turrets\launcher layout has changed and now your setup violates hardpoint constrains.
Originally by: Pottsey T3 ships due not apply the correct gang boost. For example the T3 Tengu should be 5% bonus to effectiveness of Siege Warfare Links per subsystem skill level.
Strategic Cruiser skill isn't listed as affecting one in gang links context menu because skill affects subsystems which in it's turn affects gang links.
Originally by: Pottsey Somee Epic arch modules have not been updated.
Sansha Modified 'Gnome' Implant now gives a 3% bonus to shield capacity and a 3% bonus to shield recharge rate. Imperial Navy Modified 'Noble' Implant now gives a 3% bonus to armor hit points and a 3% bonus to repair systems repair amount.
Make sure you have all *.dat files updated correctly. Those implants show correct stats for me.
Originally by: kessah I thought the Tempest had its Shield and Armour hit points changed in Dominion?
All blame CCP for not including this in the patchnotes =)
To those who have problem with fits not saving: have you used new autosave option? I've noticed some incorrect behavior from it but it's not enough to cause loss of user-made changes. Also I can't reproduce this issue so it would be helpfull if anyone could give solid reproduction steps.

Originally by: Intangible Mirage 1. Can we copy and paste our setups folder to the new EFT and they still be there?
2. Where is this autosave? Maybe putting information about it on page 1 might be good? - Please make it autosave on exit.
1. Yes you can copy setups folder from old EFT to new one. 2. EFT always saves changes on exit. New autosave option available through "File > Preferences" allows to set up EFT to save your changes at given intervals. It looks like it's not working as intended but any changes should still be saved on exit.
Originally by: Pottsey I just unzipped into a new folder instead of using my old folder and the implants still show as the old implant stats.
If I unzip EFT2.12.zip contents to the new folder and run EFT from there I get correct implant parameters. I have no idea how it can be otherwise.
Originally by: Ashen Darksabre Can anyone link me a good up-to-date EFT how-to? Or just explain the "transversel contribution" in layman's terms? I understand trasversal velocity for the most part, but how do you have positive and negative contributions, and how does that work in-game?
If you and your target fly by parallel vectors in same direction you'll partially cancel each others transversal contribution. If you fly by parallel vectors in the opposite directions then you'll get maximum transversal possible. Check out flash tracking guide, page 4 has a nice example.

I've updated known issues list. New version to fix them is planned for tomorrow.
Originally by: Van Diesell 2. The screenshot of ship setup is saved in a file of .jpg format, which is too large to spread on the Internet. It's known that many forums may have size limitations for uploading files. Therefore, I suggest that you use .png file format to save the screenshot. It's smaller and have better quality than .jpg file. Or you can have both output format coded in the EFT and let users choose. Additionally, http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/libpng.html (documents for .png format) and http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/png-sitemap.html#programming (sources) may help you.
To my knowledge PNG doesn't provide any higher quality/size ratio than JPEG format. Currently generated images are about 100kB at max. If you have troubles with such image size you can use other picture hosting sites to store the images and link those on the forums.

Originally by: tenebric On the EFT setup display, in the module list, there are 6 columns. CPU, Power, Charges, I get. Next to power, there is an icon I don't recognize, and I don't know what to do with the optimal value. Optimal would seem to be a binary thing. It is,or it isn't.
[update] duh. I just realized the symbol is for capacitor draw. I'm still confused about the optimal value though.
Optimal is a range at which module can work (for those modules which have limited activation range). For guns it's listed in <Optimal>+<Falloff> form and for missile launchers it shows approximate missile flight range (real range would be little lower). Calling this column a "range" would be less confusing but term "optimal" (short form of "optimal range") is generally used within EVE.
Originally by: Rhen Ayase Suggestion: Make a two Columns Between Optimal and Charge for SigRadius and ExplVelocity/tracking for weapons, i think thats kinda an important info, mostly for the new projectile charges.
Tracking, even together with gun signature radius says nothing about accuracy without intended target size and range. So I think that such column is not needed and if you want to compare turret tracking you can use DPS graphs.
Originally by: J'mee Leggs How do I import my character?
Open Character Editor (available in "View" menu). Create new character, open Import tab and fill User ID and API key in. In the window what will pop up after you click "Connect" select a character whose skills you want to be loaded.
Originally by: Kendon Rid**** Any chance the next version could have a recently used area that can be saved to like the favorates section, i always find myself using the same 50-100 modules and it would be super awsome to have access to them all and be able to save specifc sets away (like an armour tank list, shield tank missiles guns etc)
Why can't you use favorites for this? Just create some subfolders in favorites and group frequently used modules as you wish.
Originally by: Entity EFT DOES NOT SUPPORT FACTION FOF MISSILES?!!!111one
AFAIK they were removed from LP-shop and now exist only as collector's items and it will be pretty useless to have them included.
Originally by: Ealiom Confirmed.
To fix the problem with EFT not saving open the EFT config.ini scroll to the bottom and change the "Autosave_Interval" from 0 to 1.
Problem solved. Cheers Morgan.
It won't solve all the issues. It will try to save changes every minute but if you'll change two or more fits at once only one will be saved.
---
New version is available and should fix the issue with saving on EFT side.

This rig is wrong in description and has not effect in EFT at all.
Actually it could make a ship stable which has a large ST, but EFT does not count that so a stable ship could only last few minutes in EFT.
I've checked it and it works fine and its description is up to date. If by "ST" you are referring to Shield Transporters then this rig shouldn't affect them. It affects Energy Transfer Arrays, Energy Neutralizers and Nosferatus.
Originally by: Chribba The mimir's slot layout needs to be looked at.
What's wrong with it? It's no longer possible to link it ingame but according to dominion dump slot layout should be 6-3-6.
Originally by: Wild Spirit There's an error with Shield Power Relays in EFT. For example, Shield Power Relay II: in game: Caprecharge -35%, Shieldrecharge +24% in EFT: Caprecharge +35%, Shieldrecharge -24%
It's a matter of terminology. By "CapRecharge" and "ShieldRecharge" EFT means capacitor recharge time and shield recharge time. In game information shows "cap recharge rate" and "shield recharge rate" bonuses. Higher recharge time means lower recharge rate thus the sign is inverted. But if you want to be absolutely correct it's the way module parameters presented in ingame information window is wrong because 35% increase in recharge time is not the same as 35% decrease in recharge rate.
---
For those of you who are still having issues with saving the changes I can only suggest to 1) make sure you're using latest version 2) make sure your are not running EFT from read-only folder like "Program Files" in Vista.
Otherwise if anybody could came up with the solid way to reproduce it, it would be very helpfull. Btw, is there anyone with this problem on XP or is it only Vista\Win7 issue?

Originally by: Dominique J'Han Some changes to the subsystems disallow changes to the modules and you have to either start deleting stuff until it works or scratch the whole thing.
If you fit more turrets\launchers than ship can use you won't be able to fit anything until you remove excessive weapons. It was reported already but for some reason I forgot to fix it. I've added this issue to the first post.
Originally by: Nundinae Meretricis It appears that the description feature of EFT 2.12.3 is not working properly. When I attempt to look at the description of an item all I get is a blank screen.
It is intentional because most descriptions are useless like "This is a gun. It can be used to shoot stuff". Only for those modules whose purpose isn't clear from their name or parameters descriptions are present.
Originally by: Ecid Q'Wulf I think i discovered a bug concerning wormwhole effects not applying correctly.
e.g.: Cataclysmic Variables -Armor bonus dont -Shield bonus dont - capacitor recharge rate bonus does not - Armor repair and shield boost mali and capacitor amount bonus do
Cataclysmic Variable penalizes local shield boosters and armor repairers and boosts performance of remote boosters/repairers. It also increases total capacitor capacity and capacitor recharge time what yields same capacitor recharge rate. All those effects are working as intended.

Originally by: Kaba Zaoshi EVEMon seems to load implants from basic API, would be nice if EFT could do that too, it's pretty annoying to search for implant in those long lists, especially when you jump clone
You can get only attribute-enhancing implants through API. For EFT such import would be mainly useless without hardwiring implants.
New version out with some minor bugfixes and the changes recent "New scorpion model and current date below the clock" patch (aka Tyrannis) has made. =)

Originally by: Ranka Mei Too little or too much? Kinda important to get this fixed, what with people calculating unprobeable setups based on this and all. Pretty please, onegai shimasu! :)
It seems to be a bug on EVE side in this case. Last time I've tried to investigate how they calculate the resulting sensor strength I couldn't came up with any logical scheme. So unless CCP bothers to fix this best way would be to test such setups in game.
Originally by: Alsyth When will EFT use (#15 post) this awesome and true formula for missile range instead of the really inaccurate "velocity*flight_time* thing ? Pleaaaase :)
As I see in linked thread some people there got results which don't follow suggested formula. It's also gives shorter range for missiles with lower mass which should be way around if missiles use ship acceleration formula.
-----
Current API import issues some people do experience are not on the EFT side as there were no changes in API import code in EFT for quite a long time. API servers are extremely slow in the recent weeks and sometimes fail to give requested responce in time.

Make sure you are extracting archive along with keeping folder structure.
Originally by: Justicar Verren Is there any way to configure proxy authentication for EFT?
Proxy authentication isn't supported at the moment.
Originally by: NUXI7 Same here, from a network standpoint, its connecting to api.eve-online.com, making its POST, and then timing out waiting for the response. I upped the timeout all the way to 30 seconds, but that doesn't help.
According to CCP they should have API issues fixed by now. As a workaround to such lags in the latest EFT version (2.13.3) it is possible to manually edit config.ini file in EFT folder and adjust "CharEditor_APITimeout" parameter to higher values (time is specified in seconds) to make EFT wait longer for server response without timing out. I've recently tried to update my skills and it took more than 3 minutes for API server to respond.

EFT doesn't use Multilingual User Interface (MUI) so it shouldn't get any errors related to it.
I googled for this error and people with such issue tend to receive this message upon running different applications. Sadly it doesn't seem to be a confirmed solution to this.
I may suggest trying to run EFT in XP compatibility mode and maybe rolling back IE9 installation if you really don't need it.

Originally by: Amaroq Dricaldari How about this: Double-Clicking on a Module will fit it if only one window is open, and if multiple are open, it will let you select which one you fit it to.
You can already double-click fit module to the last active setups window.
Originally by: Amaroq Dricaldari Example: Blood Microwave S remains as a single choice, but get's renamed as Blood/Sanshas Microwave S
Dread Guristas Antimater S gets renamed Dread Guristas/Shadow Serpentis Antimatter S
I don't think it's a good idea to make items named differently than they are in a game because it could cause problems with import\export of setups.

Originally by: Ager Agemo Gripem, i was wondering if there is any chance the data files could be modified to ADD hypotetical skills, ships and modules, in order to design some non existen ships, your program has proved to be really usefull for my homeworld 1 EVE mod, but i was wondering if i could somehow use it as well to design some ships, using it to balance their stats and bonuses properly.
There is no convinient way to edit data files. The way I generate them is not a very end-user friendly plus it requires some internal logic knowlidge so implementing a system and documentation which will allow editing those files would be quite an undertaking.
Talking about the way you want to use EFT I can't really comment anything as I don't really get how it can be helpful because there are no modules nor tracking, resistances or anything similar to EVE mechanics in Homeworld if I recall correctly.
Originally by: Ronin Nazuri When I updated EFT I now get a "Read beyond end of file" error. I've downloaded the file again and still get the same error.
You need to make sure to overwrite all files when extracting new version over the old one even those whose size has not changed.
Or you can extract new version into a separate folder and copy "characters" and "setups" folders, "config.ini" and "favorites.dat" files from the old version there.
Originally by: Ronin Nazuri Enhancement request: A text search box in the Ship Browser window, so one could just enter the name of the ship instead of having to use the drill down tree.
You can already search for the ships with the fitting panel search box since version 2.13.2. |

has this error been solved.... i have it also. I see it gets a few postings. Please help.
If you used external program to unzip EFT archive you had to do this with active option to keep folder structure. For example in popular WinZip archiver this option called "Use folder names".
Originally by: Randor4000 ow do I get the new EFT V: 2.13.4 to save Damage Profiles. I have input the profiles 4 or 5 time and EFT haves not saved the damage profiles for me.
Make sure you haven't placed your EFT to the "Program Files" folder as it set to read-only on some Windows versions and this could prevent EFT from saving any changes.
Originally by: Kayen Qeid Is it possible to add comments to a setup? e.g. an information field for each ship loadout I have? 255 chars would do right now but even better with unlimited number of chars for long pros and cons lists.
On the bottom of Setups Window this is a "Description" button which opens panel where you can type in your setup description.

Open setup you want to apply wormhole effects to, click on "projected effects" button and drag and drop effect from fitting panel to the panel which opened when you clicked "projected effects".
Originally by: Fist1 Was getting an error with whatever version I downloaded a few months ago. I save my Setups and Characters folder, DL the newest version, and wow. Can i get the old version back? This looks like your much earlier (and ugly) builds, like it was built with windows 98 in mind.
If it used to work ok for you before you did update make sure "EFT.exe.manifest" file is present in EFT folder and you are running EFT in XP compatibility mode. You may also want to make sure your desktop color depth is set to 32-bit (true color) or try to use troubleshooting option to use 16-bit (high color) icons, available in EFT preferences.
Originally by: Aldo Hanso Well, I've solved my own problem, I think, by running the program "as Administrator" by right-clicking to run the program and selecting this second option. I don't know why this would even be necessary, but I'll go with it. However, feel free to reply as to why this is a thing or a way to correct it.
Obviously your system configured in a such way that without administrator privileges EFT is denied access from the files it needs to start up properly.
