Tea truly is the greatest substance ever devised by anyone, ever. I enjoy a pint of bitter as much as the next man, but if I had to choose between a life without alcohol or a life without tea, there'd be no contest.
Black tea, green tea, earl grey, lady grey, spiced chai, fruit infusion, herbal tea... I love it all
Except lapsang souchong. That stuffs evil... --------

Yorkshire Tea (the Hard Water stuff especially) is pure brilliant, it has to be said. Close runner up is Twinings Everyday, when I'm not in my hard-water home.
And lay off my fruit infusions- I've got a lemon tea right now thats killing the cold I've got stone dead, I'll have you know --------

Originally by: Locus Bey You all just like tea cos Eris does. How about you think of the squirrels for once. Those aren't acorns hanging from their anuses. Antioxident my ass, it's a methane and causes hydrocarbons. Besides all that little pinky flexing can't be good for you.
A strong well-exercised pinky is an incalculable asset to any hardcore gamer. It's why Brits are second only to far eastern Asians in terms of gaming awesomeness... --------

Originally by: CCP Eris Discordia O yeah, fresh mint, really hot water, honey is also amazing.
See there, real leaves and stuff
That's not tea. That's known as "stuff in a cup"!
When most Englismen talk about tea (though I don't claim to speak for everyone!), they're generally talking about blended black teas. Particularly English Breakfast tea.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blended_tea
They don't mean afternoon tea, with cucumber sandwiches, and little fine bone china cups. They mean big steaming hot mugs of tea. With milk.
If it ain't the above, it ain't tea, it's just some poncy nabmy pamby perfumed leaves in a cup.
Gah ... come to England and we'll show you the real deal!
Darjeeling? OI! NO!
Edited for linkage and to abuse the poster above!
You sir, are no true Englishman. You drink tea like a god damned American! For shame!
Real tea =! PG Tips. Any true Englishman can tell you what variety of tea is in the bag just by sniffing it. A true Englishman will have no problem filling a "Top 50 Teas" list from memory --------

LOL. I thought Americans tended on the side of flavoured hot water with no milk.
Yer can't beat a good cup of PG! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgzEBLa3PPk
I'd like to invite you down to come into any one of a number of cafe's (CAFFS!) daaahn my way and ask for a cup of tea in any shape or form of Earl Gray, Jasmine or Mint!
The nearest cafe to my front door has about 5 varieties of tea. And its a right greasy spoon, too; a fancy place would have triple that
Fittingly though, they only do two kinds of coffee- with milk and with no milk. The British way coffee should be served! None of this Italian 15 kinds of coffee flavoured steamed milk crap --------

Originally by: Gojyu This reminds me, perhaps someone more educated in the art of tea drinking can answer a question for me. My personal favourite blend of tea is known here as "English Afternoon". However, I've recently finished off my stash, and to my horror, the one company that makes it no longer does so. I do, however, see "Traditional Afternoon" tea all over the place. Is this the same blend merely named differently or am I going to have to bite the bullet and find a different blend?
Blend names like "English Breakfast", "Traditional Afternoon" and "Gold Label" tea are more to do with that individual tea house distinguishing between their own blends. Its possible to have two "English Breakfast" blends that taste nothing like each other.
To see if what the first tea house called "English Afternoon" is based on the same flavour as what the others refer to as "Traditional Afternoon", you're just going to have to bite the bullet and go for trial and error --------

Originally by: Battou O/ Ooo me I love my tea. I get cranky if I don't have it for a few days. But here in the south we have what we call iced sweet tea. You boil the tea, then steep, then mix with sugar(about a cup to a gallon), then refrigerate. Serve with lots of ice cubes for an awesome drink. I'm also a fan of "hot tea" what is what the Yurups call regular tea I think.
Being English, and thus a lover of all forms of tea, I do like iced tea too. Nice to make in summer, when despite the desperate cravings for a good cuppa, you just can't quite bear to put any more heat in your body. --------
