Dear CCP-
I have played your "eve online" game and found it to be fun. This game has come a long way since it first started. I can remember my friends and I mining in our frigs saving up for our first cruiser (thorax omg uber cruiser miner). I remember how *expensive* things were back in the day.
Fast forward to what we have now and it makes me sad. There is no "risk" anymore in PVP. What I mean by this is the fact I can kit up a battleship and go to town and have fun out in 0.0 and if I die it is no real big loss. Heck its what- an hour ratting, maybe two. Sure there are T2 ships but with invention even these don't cost *that* much anymore.
What I want you to do is not going to be well received but I think it is necessary. I want you to make eve what it was before. A place where putting a battleship out there actually means something. Even today getting carrier kills are *meh*.
I'm not asking you to throw away all this great content but I'm asking you to put the risk back in pvp. Not the "man its more annoying to get new ships then actually farm isk for them".
Thanks and flame away.

Edited by: Mari Onette on 24/07/2007 10:54:45 As someone who is frequently broke, I like that things are getting cheaper. It means i can afford things without spending time grinding for money, which is something I don't really enjoy. ------ I am in blood! Mahn... you want risk. Play WoW theres tons of risk there, you die, you get back up, and nothing has changed. That is risk free. EVE has risk, why do you think you see so many people on the forums *****ing about how easily they got ganked, if there was no risk they wouldnt have cared because they could have just got back up and went along their way doing what they were doing. But no they have to go buy a new ship, new setup, new clone/implants if podded, etc. Theres plenty of risk.

and to the above poster you said it yourself- it is more annoying to have to buy a new ship and fit it then actually "losing" the isk by getting blown up in the first place!

there is still risk now, but value has changed considerably, due to T2 ships and capital ships. These are the new "risk ships" as they are hard to replace (T2 because you can't insure them properly and Cap ships because everything they use cost a lot to replace).

counterpoint: arazu (although the huge price drop in covops cloak and other fittings more than makes up for the increased ship cost)

ratting is boring. mining is even more boring. I want to actually play the game, not go pvping once and then spend days doing something boring to recover my losses.
also, making everything stupid expensive and isk hard to get like it was 3 years ago would give a huge advantage to people who macro-mine, macro-rat, buy isk, or sell GTCs because they'd never run out of isk.

If it's cheapness, well, things are not exactly that cheap. Sure, the profit margins for most of the stuff on the market have decreased significantly, and even T2 isn't so outrageously expensive these days, but it's not nearly as cheap as you'd want to recklessly risk anything larger then a frig / T1 fitted cruiser. If you're T2 fitting + rigging larger ships, then it *really* hurts to lose them (maybe losing 100M is nothing to you?), unless you've got a multi-billion ISK wallet and make a truckload of ISK per day.
If you're complaining about money-making opportunities, well, not everyone makes that sort of cash. If you can replace a well-fit BS in a hour of ratting, that's great for you, but take into account that very few people can.

This is nothing new, it;s like that in all MMO. You have just advanced far enough that it is easy for you. You are now probably making more ISK than you can spend.
You got your big ship and by the looks of it you have not lost it in quite a while. If you put yourself in my shoes you'll find a different story. I joined a corp and went to 0.0 a few times only to lose my ship.
When you are knocked back to using a frigate because you don't have enough ISK to replace your cruiser and the +3 implants that you worked a week to get, it's a different story.

When one player is earning 10 bil a day, and another is struggling to earn 10 mil a week, and the first player says "man, everything's so cheap and risk-free now, let's increase prices and add more risk to keep things interesting," how do you think the second player is feeling? You just ran into the problem my father's friend recently ran into. He complained he had too much money, didn't know what to do with, and didn't want to give people free "handouts." Ya, I think my father's friend is a bit stupid. Rich, but stupid. That sums up my view of the OP's post.

OP:
If you don't feel the risk anymore - upgrade your ship/fittings/risk.
Now - if you still go around and lose Imperial Armageddons etc. with a smile you're a worthy competitor to Tyrrax Thorrk :D

T1 newb stuff isn't really that much more expensive - frigate/cruiser prices are maybe 20-30% cheaper now because of oversaturated markets and stupid builders who sell below mineral cost, but mineral cost itself isn't significantly different.
I have an old screenshot of payout from a mining op - we mined in frigates in a 0.5 for hours, sold the minerals to NPC buy orders (which were higher than all the player buy orders) and got a whopping 192k each. missions were a joke, and moving past frigates took days of horribly boring frigate mining or killing 12k belt rats in 0.5.
now you get a decent chunk of money from the tutorial, and you can start running missions right away for better rewards and less boredom than the old mining grind, so you can get into the actual game sooner and there aren't nearly as many people quitting when their free trial runs out because they think the entire game consists of mining.

To OP maybe it like that for you, not for me or most, why don't you just fight with titans if you are so rish?
And it is not abought risk it is abought power and PvPing for a REASON and completing goals.
You talk abought risk? even if you take 2 hrs to get a new BS, you still were booted OUT of that system, and that is the point.
When you been here since day one you are so in control comared to the rest of people comming in after.
So this is not from the view of most.
You got so much isk so easy then go start a new avatar?
