Today I am wondering though empire when I accidently stumble upon a pirate gate camp consisting of A LOT of blinking ships. I'm think, oh-i-am-so-dead. Yep. Silly me for not checking. rookie mistake. it happens. Well, not much I can do about it - or can I.
I decide to set up a warning post next to the the system they are camping. As people come to the gate I send out a warning to them. shortly, I get a not from GM Ocelot telling me that I am spaming local and to stop or face 'further actions."
It dawns on me that the pirate look out in the system has sent a note to the GM's telling him/her that I am spaming local, and without even so much as a question to me, they threatin me with action and in effect are doing the work for the pirates.
Has anyone else run into this? What can we do about this?
This seems to me that a warning post is a very logical way to combat pirate gate camps, but if the GM's are on the side of the pirates, how can we win?

Nope, and I do it from time to time to ruin my fellow pirates day.
However, when I "warn" people, I make sure that I am not saying the same thing, over and over. I also use a fair amount of private convo's and dropped jet-cans.
Which brings me to my next complaint, an un-fixable complaint at that. Even as a pirate, I absolutely HATE that pirates use alts in noob corps as scouts on the hi-sec side of a camped gate.

Might not be the campers. There are players who think typing two sentences in a row constitutes spaming local.
My original sig was 'Enjoy lag free play in a dynamic space MMORPG'. It was remove for lack of EVE content! ;) |

if you keep spamming the same thing over and over again the locals in that system gets tired of seeing it after the 7273658347 time propably and reported you
there is a distinction between warning ppl and spamming ppl

IBTL.
The pies probably had a scout on the other side, and they reported you... Nothing wrong with what you were doing(it's simply providing intelligence), you just happened to catch a GM on a bad day. They seem to decide how to respond simply based on how they are feeling.

But wouldn't it be an equally valid tactic for someone to use a noobcorpalt to scout ahead to see if a gate is camped? Seems good for goose and gander, imo.

Petition the GM for annoying you and make sure you request a ruling from a senior level GM. Keep you posts down below one every couple of minutes.
