So I've been looking at the viability of trading these very high value items. Obviously I know these do not show up on the normal market, you have to move them through contracts (I understand you can get to a market screen if you already own one of the item you want to buy or sell but that sounds pretty useless as I guess most people wouldn't look there. Also the tax/broker fees would be a lot higher than the 10,000 for a contract).
Now I was wondering, why are these items not visible through the market? I can think of no decent reason for CCP to restrict them to contracts so does anyone know or have a theory?
Only thing I came up with was maybe it would be too confusing for new players but there are already lots of different variations of most items on the market so this does not sound right.

I don't think there is any good reason for it, but the turnover on these items is very small in most cases... so contracts is a good enough way to trade them if you ask me.

I agree that these should be posted on the market screens. It would facilitate their trading and would make them much more accessible. Many items on the market screens have little/no volume, so that isn't a good reason for why faction and officer mods aren't on the market screens.
EVE's market screens could be made far more intuitive for players, especially with regards to ship fitting. None of the complexity would be lost... it would just be a far better UI.

Nor are boosters.
Only things I can think of are that it's to reduce how much data needs to be loaded when you hit "browse" with "show only available" checked, or that they're worried it'd confuse newbies. At any rate, regardless of the argument, I fail to see what the problem was with the "hidden" market we used to have in these items, especially if it were expanded to allow use of the "search" tab to pull up arbitrary listings.
