Edited by: Rollotamasi on 11/10/2007 13:34:30 I have been working on some tech 1 cruiser setups for solo PvP but I am running in to some issues. Well, One issue really. From what I have read you need a web, scram and AB/MWD for PvP. Well, that leaves no room for a cap injector. Without the cap injector you can't really run a MAR. So, this is my question. Would it be better to just put a SAR on since it will mainly be used to repair after the fight? This would also help free up a bit of grid as well. Any advice you can give would be great!

You can try using a Plate instead of a Rep on some setups. carrying around a rep however is vital if you dont want to pay every time you take armour damage -----

For cruisers I wouldnt bother trying to active tank them in any situation, slap an oversized plate on, gank it up and use ECM drones, cap is not really an issue then.
HAC's can be different I guess but really with HACs for solo work you either have enough mids to fit cap booster or you nanofag it up... or you dont undock without a gang lol.
For bigger ships like the proph maybe? I dunno I wouldnt solo pvp in anything bigger than a cruiser unless it had 4+ mids ;)

Injectors are vital tbh. Try droping scram, and fly with tackler... ___ P.S. Post with your main. Mind control and tin hats |

No offense but that is kinda not solo PvP which is what I am designing this ship for.

Reading comprehension ftw. Going to be tough doing solo pvp without a scram or with a tackler.
I've got one more issue over the OP too. To fly a cruiser around solo, even a tech 1 cruiser, you need to be able to run gate camps. Which means you have to be at least partially speed fitted...
I'd try something like a arbitrator, a caracal or maybe a celestis. Something that can deal dps from 15-20km while having enough midslots to damp. Maybe a vexor with a tracking disruptor, but it further limits your targets. Basically you won't kill people at gates as they will just jump, but you weren't going to be tanking sentry guns and killing anything besides haulers anyways. Same deal at station.
However that leaves you anyone who isn't at a station or a gate and pirates who are below -5.5 and are camping the border of low sec/high sec. They at least can't jump into empire without being popped and if you're speed tanked probably can't run away. Also if you can bait a solo battleship or BC to shoot at you on a gate or station and then you ewar the crap out of them while pointing them, odds are your DPS plus the sentrys are going to net you a kill.
Finally, if you're doing 0.0 with this boat, i'd say don't. t1 cruiser isn't going to escape inti tacklers and the first gatecamp with a bubble and some proper tacklers is going to get you killed and podded.

Learn how to fly the ship tbfh, as opposed to just hitting the modules and then occasionally hitting the cap injector.
This is what seperates the good pilots from the bad pilots. Bad pilots want the ship to do all the work for them - good pilots work with the ship.
MWD, web, scram. Pulse mwd once or twice, you're in range. You should have somewhere between 75%-60% cap at this point. Activate Scram, web, guns.
Watch your cap and your armor, rep when you can and you need to, dont leave the rep running, just pulse it.
Honestly, people want PvP to be like missioning these days. --

This is the way it works. This is also how you PvP in ships which shield tank.

Honestly? If you have only 3 mids, you have to either A, sacrifice your AB/MWD, or B, try and live without an injector. Plates instead of reppers and high cap-related skills help with this.
Or fly the Arbitrator, which has the 4 mids of DOOM! ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

I pvp in a rupture most of the time. 3 mid slots = easy fix.
Cap injectors usually support the tank, so don't use an active tank.
My Rupture 4x 220s 2x missile launchers or maybe some neuts (haven't tried that)
MWD web scram
3x gyros 1x 1600 mm tungsten plate 1x suitcase t2
It dosen't work in all situations, but it works against same class ships and lower.
Pulse MWD (you don't want it on when being fired at anyway), web, scram, shoot.
The plate+suitcase gives a very nice buffer, my rupture is over 7k armour and meh resists.

Maller does great with projectiles in high, a nos for the last highslot and a complete passive tank. And even if you go with an ab/mwd you won't be very fast, which means youre basicly down to 2 required midslots, which means... 1 slot free \o/
