I see this thread is turning into MMORPG.
I bet sooner or later we'll see announce of "EVE Agora" textual browser-based MMO with EVE avatars where likes are used as currency at the same time they are the meaning of gameplay (just like pursuit for ISK/hour rate in EVE). |

P.S. 62 now. why do you need 1000 likes? In order to accomplish an objective, task, bet or possibly a challenge. Why the 1000 specifically? I'd say to make the task doable in the given the time frame
I had a toon with ~100 likes slowly accumulated from my form activity - they were really slow to come. Then there was New Year 2013 and Destination SkillQueue "liked" all my posts. Suddenly I had 500+ likes and their amount started to grow much faster - people have confirmation bias and then they (we) see a person with third party / independent "certificates of intellect" (likes, doctor diploma, pile of money, etc.) we are tend to think he's actually smart and his words are valuable pieces of information and worth more than Joe Average's tirades.
1000 likes make forum meta-games easier. |

By the way I've noticed pattern of likes for posts in this thread goes like this:
12 12 11 10 9 12 9 10 7 5 4 3 2 1 1
Those "12" and "10" peaks means some people actually "like" certain messages because they really like them. Also that means someone doesn't "like" every post s/he see. Slackers. |

If I had some (well, a lot) of free money I'd started a crypto-currency today. Just to not to miss the opportunity. Always sounds great, but these figments of currencies are just that. Figments. With no true base, they will and do evaporate. This is about the only area where I support some sort of regulation of the Internet. It's just another iteration upon the ideas of Mr. Ponzi, with no better results. All modern currencies does not have any material base behind them - governments print them at will in trillions and just disperse among elites. I.e. modern currency is materialized will and wishes - not some kind of gold equivalent, but pure imagination. No wonder crypto-currencies spread like wildfire - they are exactly the same as our "traditional" currencies in their present state, product of imagination - just more convenient to use because they aren't controlled by politicians. |

Without that protection, it's ultimately a losing proposition mainly from exploitation and covert manipulation with absolutely no guiding force.
And the real "controling entity" will more than likely eventually make off with all the funds, and good luck trying to get your money back.
Look at what happens even when there is monitoring and regulation. It's ultimately nothing but a formula for disaster. Governments act exactly as you've described - make off with funds. Examples: in US "controlling entity" has printed god knows how many trillions (2? 3? 7?) to bail out banks in 2008; in my country "controlling entity" devalued its currency by 10% in 3 weeks of January, in 1998 there was 300% devaluation in less than 1 month (value dropped 4x) - i.e. they've stole 3/4 of all money in 1998 and 10% in January. |

I don't understand Woody Allen's movies - most of them are just his own conversations with different actresses. I knew a guy (he asked me to work for him) who has pretended to work as model agency and simply arranged meeting between models and rich guys during "advertisement filming" (i.e. rich guys paid for useless advertisement to meet models in the process). Bastard was so famous there were TV shows about him - he made millions (literally). WA reminds me of him - except for he's using his movies to meet actresses himself instead of pimping them out. |

I don't understand people who work as teachers in schools today: not only it's low income job but also dangerous as modern children aren't respectful, some of them have access to weapons, they know or even work with criminals - and here their parents are often criminals (i.e. police pfficers, government officials, etc). |
