Why should the game be dumbed down for those who cant focus and get their pricing done quickly and efficently?
I can adjust 100 orders in 15min, and I normally do such 3-4 times a day. I have no problems doing this, why should I be punished for your inability to do it without CCP holding your hand?
You wanted the life of a trader, this is the price you must pay, or did you expect CCP to just hand you free isk without any time/effort/risk involved?
Using your logic I don't see why we should be allowed to use a mouse to change orders or do any other market related stuff, a keyboard is enough to do everything in windows. What the OP is proposing is more of a convenience, just like your mouse.
Juz sayin'.
Actually I do use the keyboard for everything that is possible when molesting the market, I find that im far more accurate using the keyboard. Sadly you cant use the keyboard to select which order you wish to cancel/modify. If the market interface actually allowed me to totally use the keyboard I would be a happy person. I realise that this isnt going to happen, since ppl love their mice.
Myself I find the mouse a hinderance when putting up new orders or adjusting old one, since im right handed and the numeric keypad is also on the right. I am constantly losing efficency having to move back between the mouse and the keypad. --

i don't like the idea in the OP mainly because it would make macros much more easy to code 0.01 edits.
what i would like are simple things like: - being able to put an item in the quickbar out of your orders-list - sums on the orders page

While i disagree in pricipal with what has been said , i conceed on the fact that i can see how it would make macro's easier. However highlighting of your own orders would still be nice to have. ----------------------------------------------- "I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversation." |

I'll list my top 3:
1) Highlighting of own orders 2) Names of order owners 3) Setting the default order timer to 3 months

No that my rant is out of the way, why do you think this would be useful to all? What do you hope to accomplish? What is wrong with the current method of finding out who an order belongs to? --

Keyboard working on market browsing, now there's an idea worth implementing. I also prefer to use the keyboard because it's way faster (no accelerating and having to slow down). Plus, it'd be really helpful in systems like jita (yes, I trade in jita) where my mouse moves like a turtle.

Only in the market forums would a bunch of masochists argue against market UI improvements.
We all know that real traders only use the market window, and not this 'orders' softy stuff to update their orders. And the real hardcore sort their orders by time left.

C'mon, you know you want to grief those guys buying t2 blueprints for pennies on the billion, or the guys selling million isk shuttles.
Realistically it would just exacerbate the npc-corp alt problem.
The only improvement I'd personally care for is the addition of limit orders. Please post constructively. ~Saint |

i actually think this would be way more useful to see how many people you're competing with in the market, whether theyre chaining orders, when someone has gone to sleep/work, and whether that buy order belongs to a manufacturer (has buy orders but not sell orders) or to a trader (who will put those items up on sell order an drive the price down)
i agree with ricdic on the .01 though. the extra little bit of work now adds way more to the game. first its not too hard to spin the mousewheel to get the desired effect. and second, it makes impatient rookie traders get frusterated easier and either sell to buy orders in the future or undercut you by some ridiculous amount that you can just buy up and put back on market

Figured I'd share my .02 ISK...
I'm very active in *cough* another MMO's modding community (yes, that Cogwheel) so I have a fairly thorough understanding of the push-pull between players who want their lives easier and devs/other players who want to keep things "fair." My feeling on a UI is that it should make the mechanics of your job as simple as possible without making any high-level decisions for you. Obviously, there's a lot of room for interpretation in there, but that's the Dev's job imo ;)
How do I apply this to some of the ideas in this thread? Let's take the +0.01 isk button...
When you click SELL THIS ITEM, the game will already choose the highest buy order in range of your item, establishing precedent for a certain level of built-in decision-making. When you check the market to place a buy order, the market UI highlights all orders within range in green so all you really have to do is sort by price descending and look for the first green one. This is a purely mechanical task. However, the decision to use a particular method is still entirely on your shoulders, and this is what really makes the isk... Similar ideas hold true for the other two buttons in the OP.
