What really makes no sense about the FPS issue is it comes and goes between systems. K-9 and D4- in feyth are pretty laggy and almost unplayable, it feels like I'm in a fleet battle or in jita. However if I jump into 2-R which is next door to K-9 my FPS goes back to how it was before the patch and runs fine. How can I be so laggy in one system, then one jump away my computer runs fine. There are lots of systems where FPS isn't an issue but they are far less than the systems that are an issue.
K-9 to 77s is about 14 jumps and on the route I hit 2-3 systems where magically my computer runs eve like it always has. It makes no sense and I don't envy the devs trying to figure out what is happening to the FPS.
Here are some screenshots I took on my way to 77s, look at the difference between ZID and OBK.. its ridiculous and makes no sense.
in station FPS is fine. http://i26.tinypic.com/raq5qu.png
undock - FPS instantly drops to 9 FPS! http://i31.tinypic.com/4fxx0i.png
zid - gets a little better but still terrible. http://i26.tinypic.com/vqgxva.png
obk - hey look I fixed the FPS bug by jumping into a new system amazing! http://i25.tinypic.com/becy35.png

As for the fps issue, check if there is a relationship between lag in systems and moon count in said systems. Or no moons, no lag. It seems to be the problem.
Maybe because of your removal of Alt key function, that showed the moons previously, but has now been removed. Might be that some programmer messed with the code there.
Also it's true that if you activate the universe map, the lag is gone.

Apparently hard shutting down locked eve clients hos'es the registry some were. I did it so many times client had refused to open after a complete removal of anything eve related anywere on pc (outside of registry) and a fresh install of client.
Bit the bullet and reformatted pc. Was actually quite easy since i remembered the procedure so well from when my windows .ini er .exe got hosed from a few patches ago.........
Comon CCP take some notes here.........stop testing patches on the masses.
Game now uses less then 20% cpu but lagg is baad. Wetchaser |

Quote: I wish people would stop complaining about an patch issue, and continue to say 'oh im thinking of leaving eve... blah blah blah' Some things wont quite be the same after they play with the proramming of the game, I am positive they try to reduce the chance of this happening. If you cant handle some changes when there is a patch, than either shut up or just dont play the game. Not start whining on the forums. Leave the space for someone who has an actual issue with the game that needs pointing out to the devs.
If you cant handle patches not happening exactly as planned, or little things changing, than please go write your own game and see if you can get it to be better than eve. And Please do not have mistakes in it. Than you can tell us all about it and we will go try out your game!
What an attitude , I used to play eve quite alot a year back and there were never as many problems as what Im reading about now. I have also noticed since I come back that people tend to take anyone who has a legitimate complaint regarding quality or game function as a paying customer to be branded a whiner. This is patch feedback no? Lots of people have issues and its better they dont get made to feel like they cant say for people looking to flame them. If we want to go down this road why not just change the thread to "Tell us what we want to hear feedback"
Im glad of threads like this its helping me find fixes and other things I can be checking and its helped me make sure my system is running good for eve. Please keep up the honest feedback and rather than brand people whiners , say whats good about the patch and what new contents been added, thats much more constructive.

Basically high-meta shield amplifiers got rebalanced based on meta level and normal shield hardeners trends.
Everyone is looking past the CPU usage which was changed also, to the better.
This is how the old cpu / resistance was. You'll notice quickly how everything is pretty much random. Tobias', Gistum, Hakim's shield amplifiers are completely useless, and being dropped as high level meta loot.
Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.
First thing people frown upon when taking a look at the new shield amplifiers is the caldari navy, dread guristas changes. However if you take a look at normal shield hardeners and their Faction counterparts they follow the exact same trend. Same resistance but lower CPU.
Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.
I apologize for the lack of information about these changes in the patch notes. No idea how it slipped passed us.

I'm guessing baecause then your PR department could not have sent out all those e-mails and news reports saying this was a %100 boost patch with no nerfs at all.

It would probably be a good idea if everyone with problems that revent them from playing EVE in a fashion that is comfortable would demand credit for the time from patch day until it is fixed. That's what I intend to do. Money talks and if they have to credit everyone (or most) for several weeks of time they might get the point. If they don't credit me it will be the last they will see of me and my two accounts. I hope others feel the same way.

all I keep getting when using 2 accounts is " ccp has an error and has to close" and its like impossible sometimes to change windows, so I ask you this CCP. What is the point of having 2 accounts apart from you that is, getting double the income. Im sure that is getting close to fraud.

Has anyone heard something about the Linux client (the official one) crashing on startup? It won't get past the splash screen since the latest patch was installed. I tried reinstalling the whole thing, but no success so far. I haven't been able to play at all since that patch. :-(
Here's the error messages i'm getting:

Good evening, one week passed and I am still stuck not being able to play (and down a monitor which died during the nth machine freeze caused by eve, but let's pretend that this did not happen).
Have you guys got a clue on what happened with this patch deployement for me and many other users who got crippled with horrible performance or left unable to play?
Hello? Is there anybody out there?

Sorry to see that no responds are made from CCP. I had expected some words now when Easter is passed.
The only thing I can see is CCP:s attemt to form a council of players so that CCP can blame somebody else in the Future. Since CCP:S statement clearly says: "It cannot be stressed enough that the council will not have any formal power within CCP; it will function solely as an advisory council to CCP by serving as a communication conduit between the playerbase and CCP".
Its clear by now that CCP doesnt listen to us players and doesnt inform us on whats going on, if anything. So what else could a council do? but take the blame for future mistakes?
Even if CCP doesnt know how to handle all the problems caused by the last patch, it would be more honest to us customers to say so.
At least Im happy to see that those players, without problems, has stoped writing, maybe because the payout from CCP has ended?
I have cancelled all my accounts and will not renew them until something is done to correct this patch and make the game playable again.

Originally by: CCP Lingorm We are looking into the reported frame rate problems. The issue is we have no solid reproduction case for it. We also have conflicting results in that while some people report FPS reduction, others with the same cards report a gain in FPS, this added to the fact that their was no major changes in the Graphics engine in this patch makes it very hard to comment on or even find the issue that is causing some people to experience this.

A tale of Two Clients
Our story thus far: The intrepid EVE player has major performance issues on his WinXP media center box and has lost his settings files again. He fights back by finding and restoring his settings files and dropping both clients back to classic graphics mode (with cache set to Large). The game is uglier but almost playable -almost.
And thus begins our Clash of the Clients. Below is the wide and varied list in which the classic clients seem to attack one another once both are started.
Client 1 starts fine and runs for awhile. On startup of Client #2 it fails with a Windows Error. (Before the 1.1 patch this would still happen when running to premium clients, but every time the Task Manager would show the first client had already oonsumed 500 Mb of memory. This shouldn't be a problem though since the machine has been upgraded to 2Gb. In the past relogging both clients solved the problem.
Client 1 starts fine, Client 2 tries to start up but can't get to the login screen because it seems to immediately start fighting with the first client over something -perhaps a file or the screen focus despite both being in windowed mode. You can tell this is happening because both clients lockup and the task bar shows both EVE icons flickering madly back and forth. Only recourse is to wait it out. Eventually, the login screen will come up on the 2nd client, the fight stops, and then you finally have the option of shutting down one or both clients.
Client 1 starts fine, Client 2 logs in with ship already in space, but the background is pure white and frame rate drops to 1 to 2 fps. Solution is to relog both clients.
Client 1 is up and running fine. Client 2 is up and running fine. Suddenly one of the clients starts having problems loading things or getting the server to respond and eventually disconnects. Review of the task manager shows one or both clients over 500Mb mem. WinXP must have some kind of per process memory limit of 500 Mb perhaps? This seems to be a reoccuring theme.
Client 2 starts up fine. Client one starts up but login screen isn't visible. Alt-tabbing shows a "zooming" effect indicating the task is returning from minimized mode which shouldn't be happening with both in windowed mode. Belatedly I realize the last d/c aka crash might have gotten one of the clients into full screen mode. Solution: Delete the pc.dat settings file for client #1. Now client starts fine.
Client 1 starts up fine. Client 2 starts fine and my ship starts in space and warps to the POS. But attempting to interact with my labs or silos is impossible. Client 2 soon thereafter d/c. Relog client 2 and again it immediately disconnects. Purging the caches and pc.dat files on both clients seems to fix the problem.
Conclusions I've never seen EVE act up this badly. This game has always been rock stable for me while running two clients as long as I stayed in windows mode. Except for the first reported scenario, all the others started with patch 1.1 and my fall back to classic mode. Because of all the problems listed above, it is now very problematic to get both clients running at the same time. I've even tried adding the command line args "/end /LUA:OFF" back to my shortcuts w/ my setting files copied to the new locations and this hasn't seemed to help. Now even when I log in the 2 clients one right after the other, the 2nd client will likely throw a Windows error and refuse to show the login screen.
My first account has been cancelled although there's still a week left before it expires. I do hope CCP makes some effort to fix this mess before the week is out or I will probably cancel my 2nd account as well.
I've been having pretty much the same problems. Cancelled all 3 accounts - simply fed up with being unable to run 2 clients / re-installing / rebuilding all settings. I've never had it so bad in nearly 4 years.

Well it was happening a week ago and still is CCP only want to answer the easy questions it would seem. I and many other ppl have posted about the FPS problem and now it would seem your about to loose a bit of cash (glad to see ppl are voting with there wallets) Now how about you start answering questions about the FPS and again pls stop avoiding the question as after a week of asking i can only assume you are. Like im sure everyone else i have posted a petition on this subject but i dont know how many ways i can tell you this but every other dam game i have runs 100% its just your game which is screwed up. Ps i have been trying to find a pattern to this fps high and low and ppl are correct in saying that some systems (the majority off are slow as hell ie 5-10fps) and others are reasonably quick (about 20fps) so far i cant see why but there is a definate difference.
My average prior to patch was 40 fps in space and 50 fps in station approx.
Ps i will be stopping payment on my account unless this is resvoled:)

Edited by: Rethie on 26/03/2008 10:28:57 Edited by: Rethie on 26/03/2008 10:18:34 Well since CCP aren't reading this thread, or can't be bothered answering, I think I may have some solutions now.
My fix, it appears that the errors before mentioned may lie in the patching of older builds, or not.
1. I downloaded current premium client, saved my current bookmarks file as mentioned on page 16 of this thread. I then wiped all known directories of EVE that I could find using Eraser 57 (probably didn't make any difference to deleting but). 2. I downloaded/installed latest audio driver from my sound driver provider (realtek in this case) as someone mentioned in another thread it improved things. 3. Installed premium client, set hdr off, cache high, 24bit colour, shadows normal. 4. Run the client, I now have adverage fps in flight of 65-70 even in JIta (O_O)also with masses of cans in roid belts up from 15-20fps, in station adverage 90fps from 20-25. 5. The overview now remains on right of screen and keeps tabs saved as required but default always resets to default after undock. I found if I put my "Selected item" window at top right and the "overview" below that not docked to it, and my drones window in a gap below it also undocked they remain in these positions throughout action, though the "overview" does jump in level with the left edge of "selected item " everytime you undock (livable atm).
The game is now playable (except for overview quirks) Hope this helps folks (to all those still reading this thread)
Fly safe
