Just leave these forum mods alone.
It's simple. If you want to say something that they won't allow here, start your own forums . . advertise them as the "uncensored" forums . . then you can talk all you want.
In fact, I believe there are FREE ways to setup your own forums. Stop whining about these forums and go make your own.

You applying for the mod team?
Quote: My CEO shamis watched a normal reply post disapear, he re-wrote it, that one disapeared and then the original one came back somehow. Must have been some kind of demonic packet loss in his connection................
Might be some form of bug, while we can both edit and delete posts, we can't bring back deleted posts.
Quote: I have seen threads disappear and reappear, threads that didn't look like deletion candidates to me. Maybe sometimes 2 mods delete a thread at the same time, causing the wrong thread to be removed when trying to remove a thread that is already gone or something?
Deleting is somewhat complicated, if it is deleted properly it should be gone forever. You sure the thread might not just have fallen off the first page? It might also have been moved to another forum, and then moved back for some reason.

This is what happens when you get a volunteer to do an employee's job.

If it was performance related I think most of you would be sailing deep into P45 territory.

I think someone is annoyed that their forum moderator application was turned down.

If that is the case, the "moved to another forum and back" seems the most appropriate, as there were always older posts below that one on the first page (and I checked some of the second pages aswell).
I don't remember the names of the threads, but if it happens again I can try to write down the subject of it and send it somewhere so that someone can try to see what happened to it...

a ThreadID would be more useful. We don't have a search function either

Been there done that Josh my faithful old troll. To be honest I grew out of it.
Most decent communities are self-policed anyway. The only reason forums like this have moderators is purely for PR. No developer or publisher really cares about their community. So long as they keep paying their sub then everything is fine. What they don't want to see is disgruntled customers. Prospective customers see their posts and have second thoughts about buying the game, or in a worst case scenario some website/magazine gives them column inches over them and paints the game in a bad light. It's all about money. They are a business after all.
They use volunteers purely for this reason. If they really did care about their community and not just potential income they would hire a decent community manager that actually interacted with the community instead of being a walking talking news item, and they would hire moderators that encouraged people to post rather than discourage them. Volunteers cost nothing and there is little or no vetting process, they're highly cost effective. They'll keep on doing the job because they're the type of person that craves power (sorry to be Mr. Internet Psychoanalyst, but sadly it's true) and they'll do anything to hang on to it. I'm willing to bet there are people who are mods, polaris etc. that don't even play the game anymore yet still hang around for the fancy title.
Less power tripping. More genuine interaction. In fact, scratch the genuine bit, even if it was cynically transparent interaction it would be better than what we have now. Damn noobs.

Well, personally, I'm in it because I love the forums and want to keep em working. All of the vols play the game, as well, so that's not entirely true either.
As for genuinely interacting with the community, I'm all for it. What would you like to see, in that respect?

Hmmmm i would'nt say that EA (cue any sort of death tune) employ's its own community manager for C&C generals/Zerohour i forget the guys name as he is never there.
The forums there are pretty dead as in stone dead so i would'nt knock someone who does it of his on back to help the community as in this case.

Actually, no You have to play the game otherwise you will be a lousy volunteer because you have no idea what's going on. It's vital for a good mod to know and understand what people are adressing even if they only use a few words to describe it. If you dont know what is going on and give flawed advice, you wont be with Polaris for a long time.

Being from the USA I take free press for granted. I may not agree with what someone has to say but I will defend to the death there right to say it. That being said and understanding not everyone agrees with freedom and this being a owned by a private entity they can moderate it to any degree they want to. I also have the freedom to post on less moderated eve forums and regulary do so. I do think a sandbox would be nice where no moderation takes place and those that dont like freedom then dont go to the sandbox. Power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutly.

Exactly.. God, just imagine what it would be like on patch days around here. it might even go so far as players seeing their legitimate, long-standing discussions about old, ongoing bugs modded/deleted/locked because some mod decides that *EVERY* bug discussion should go in a patch thread even though many of the discussions have absolutely nothing to do with a current patch..

That's a good thing to know.. The last thing any of us want to see is false info and incorrect instructions being passed on the help channel..
