So alot of ppl like to bump other people. Why dont they just put in a ramming ship so you can do dmg each time you bump something, and make giant spikes you put in the high slots for extra dmg on each bump.

Bumping is lame, totally kills game immersion. Sure it's a great PvP tactic but from an RP point of view it makes no sense at all. Always thought that it's kinda sad that ppl have to resort to these kinds of tactics to win fights and as it is such a good tactic it has become the norm unfortunately. I'd much prefer to see ships slow down automatically before a collision to avoid one.

^ Well, when a giant carebear fits 3 WCS stabs on their PVP ships, it's the only tactic that works. Btw, not everyone RP's in Eve

seriously though the human race already scrapped this idea hundreds of years ago, what makes u think th at it'd be a good idea to re introduce it to ship warfare 35 000 years into the future? when u can just as easily fire a shell the size of a house at ur enemy

Because, if bumping a ship hurt you it would remove bumping as a viable mechanism for PVP. More importantly, have you EVER been to jita? I defy you to dock and undock without bouncing off a dozen ships. I'd tank the hell out of a DST and fit a tractor beam to loot the inevitable wrecks when I was bored if this were to happen.

There was bump damage and it was removed because you could just park a battleship in front of a newbie station and prevent all smaller ships from coming out of the station. And invoking concord because of that would yield trouble, too. Either griefing would be too easy or you'd get concorded if your mission battleship would accidentally obliterate a pod while undocking in high-sec.
Bump damage was too much trouble and so it got removed.

So?
So, it's a game. In a game, unlike real life one can arbitrarily adhere to laws of physics. In this case, physics was ignored for ease of play and a higher degree of fun.

They were actually rather more elegant than that... The favoured tactic of the Carthaginian Navy was to sweep an enemy vessel from bow to stern, close on one flank, breaking the oars and likely injuring crew members in the process. The Romans (in their Carthaginian designed Triremes) used this tactic to their advantage by means of the Corvus - a spiked ramp which they'd drop onto a sweeping Carthaginian vessel, allowing their heavier infantry to conduct boarding actions. --

Some would argue that it results in a lower degree of fun. In fact, causing a huge drop in fun when any immersion is killed on the spot. Then again, Eve's clearly stayed as far away from any semblance of realism as possible, so it's consistent, at least.

If it helps you sleep at night, pretend that each ship's warp core creates a giant positive charge on the entire surface area of the ship's shield. When ships come too close, they nearly hit, but instead are repelled by the magnetic forces.

It's hard enough to get fights as it is, even with these techniques available.
The lack of kills makes it so small T1 ships are getting steadily pushed out of pvp by bigger ships and T2 because people can easily afford to fly them since losses are honestly quite rare.
If it keeps up, do we end up with carriers being the bread and butter fleet ship w/ a couple dictors, recons, and cyno alts as the support?
