I won't even say I'm opposed to this change. It could be a good thing. I certainly see how the "old way" made it too easy to repair sec status. However...

Before I came here, I always said that if I ever played one MMO, it would be Eve Online. I'd read countless stories of criminal mischief, piracy, and thievery; I wanted to play that game. For eight years it's been one of the big selling points of the game, and CCP has capitalized on that. When I started playing less than two years ago, I had to learn to navigate a dangerous universe, even as a carebear in highsec. And I enjoyed it
Today, we have CCP making Eve into an increasingly safe universe. More and more, people are protected from their own stupidity. Where CCP should be making sure people understand the risks of something, instead they simply remove the risk. CCP is turning highsec into what could at best be described as a co-op game, and they're gutting lowsec by discouraging daytripping and ignoring what little unique content exists there. It's gotten so utterly dull that I've abandoned highsec in favor of living in a wormhole again, building up cash while I wait for Inferno to tell me whether CCP has any interest in keeping my business
I'm not going to unsub any accounts today. I believe CCP is deaf to such protests. What they hear is outcry. They hear protests, rage, what the carebears think passes for tears (protip for the carebears: if you want to sound cool, learn wtf tears are). We've been a neglected group because we've been complacent. While the carebears have been out there whining about everything we do, we've kept to ourselves. We've been repeatedly nerfed because we haven't made our voices heard.
It's time for the pirates, the gankers, the ninjas, the mercenaries, the lowsec daytrippers, and all the rest of us to be heard. Let's make some noise! |

Additional thoughts:
Assuming this isn't just something CCP broke (which wouldn't surprise me), I'm pretty sure most of us would have agreed to having any sec bonuses split between all parties involved. I can understand it being considered excessive to give everyone with a target painter the same boost as if they'd killed the rat solo. But the solution isn't to deny them any benefits at all.
If they want to encourage us to work together more, why would they make a boneheaded change that rewards non-cooperative play? It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

Exactly. CCP is segmenting the "sandbox" with changes like this. They're steadily turning highsec into a co-op zone of consensual PVP, where the only way to apply force today is via suicide ganks. This is yet another blow to lowsec, when it was in dire need of a boost. They're leaving nullsec alone...for now. But it's not exactly a fun place to be anyway.
Crucible and Inferno are supposed to be about conflict. Let's hope the latter actually delivers some. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

This was a stealth nerf, which resulted in the game mechanics performing in a way they had not prior to the patch, without any documentation. If you can't see the problem with that, stop posting, unsub, and go play Angry Birds.
An all-or-nothing approach is rarely the solution. This patch punishes people who work together as well as people who leech on mission runners. Split the sec bonus evenly, find a way to divide it "fairly", do whatever you have to to avoid THIS.

Lady Ayeipsia wrote:is this a horrible nerf? Like I said earlier, the "old" way of everyone getting the full benefit was probably broken and I don't think anyone with any sense would argue that it makes sense for an interloper with a target painter to get the same sec bonus as the guy who did all the actual work. I have two issues here:
-Undocumented changes are a bad thing and should be called out EVERY TIME. If we fail to do that, we allow CCP to make a habit of making changes to game mechanics that we simply have to discover, often in unfortunate ways. -This particular change discourages cooperative play, which CCP has indicated they want to see more of. After all the bluster about Incursion and how its intent was to bring more people together, this runs counter to those goals. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Griznatch wrote:Oh god, now your 5 man ratting fleet has to find 5 battleships to shoot every 15 minutes instead of just one. How will you ever manage?
Who cares if they didn't tell you. The game works a certian way now. You can either keep on playing, finding new tactics and tricks, and not giving a damn or you can whine about on the forums like an impotent child. You appear to have chosen your path already. Actually, I don't have to rat to improve my sec status. My normal exploration activities repair what little damage I do to it.
That they didn't tell us is kind of a big deal to me. This change doesn't affect me at all; I'm in this discussion on principle. A rather significant change was made to a mechanic without any warning or any discussion with the player base. CCP never even addressed this as a problem that needed to be fixed, they simply implemented the change and then shrugged and said "oops" when they were called out for not putting it in the patch notes. It's a bad way to treat your customers and I want them to know that. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

Is it time for another Incursion-interdiction? On a massive--ideally throughout all of hisec at once, without let-up--on-going scale this time 'round, too.
Just throwing that out there.
We've already managed to cause CCP to hastily patch two methods we used to inflict pain upon the incursioners. They seem dedicated to ensuring the safety of highsec isk printing in all its forms, so I don't think any incursion interdiction would last for long. The more you push it, the more CCP will push back in order to maintain the status quo. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

Darius III wrote: This is minor issue with a workaround. Hit TAB then ENTER. We would like to see "Yes" being the default though, OR you could make the tick Box actually work that says "Turn off this warning".
I can see why defaulting to No makes sense. I'd rather they err on the side of caution...however, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to press "Y" when that prompt comes up. It retains the single keystroke and just moves it to a key less easily tapped by mistake.
(I'm thinking of the enter key on the keypad, which is quite easy to bump if you're moving your mouse near your keyboard. Not that I've ever accidentally gone GCC, but it's a fair reason for this change)
