Hello people i've only been playing a short time and i'm getting a Caldari Rokh battleship soon but i have no idea what would work best :D i'm better at turrets than missiles but still fine at both just say what you think i should outfit it with (even if i have to learn a load of stuff it all helps to know other opinions!) if you're not savvy with the Rokh, here's a link: http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/EN/ships/battleships/caldari/24688.asp :P Commander Hornblower

You will not like to hear it - but stick with something smaller and less skill intensive for the beginning. Everybody wants to sit in a battleship from the very start but you are only going to lose it if you are not prepared.
I suppose you are running missions now, so a Drake will meet your requirements easily up to level 3.

highs: 8 425mm rails (antimatter) meds 4 hardeners(depends on what rats your shooting) x-large booster (C5-l for best name) cap recharger/boost amp lows 2 magnetic field stabilizer 1 power diagnostic system 2 capacitor power relay
rigs 3 capacitor control circuit
not the quickest mission boat in the world but if you like caldari and rails this will do it for you. if you are having grid problems with this drop some 425 for cruise launchers. you wont be able to run the booster all the time but it still gives you a good tank. at least get the power diagnostic and cap power relay t2 and work your way to t2/best named from there on up however i don't recommend doing the harder lev 4 till the lows and mids are t2 with the exception of the booster

The Drake is not the best ship for the guy if he want's to use a Rokh. The Drake path to fame and glory is quicker and easier but the Ferrox is more directly suited to what he wants and needs to acomplish to fly a Rokh well. And a Ferrox can handily breeze through level 3 missions (as can any other BC really). The downside is a rail-rox simply cannot muster the DPS (or cap stability) to complete level 4's. It's not downright impossible of course but it would be annoying at best.
Plus, by training a Ferrox you are forced to train a wider variety of skills early on that are useful down the road - engineering, weapon upgrades/awu and other skills that most pilots take for granted are often lost on caldari pilots simply because for a LONG time you don't need to worry about many of those basic skills. Personally, when I was using T1 gear I never really had to make compromises in fitting - anything I threw on fit just fine. Unlike other races, caldari can PVE in absolute fail boats and still do well. Of course then most caldari pilots take that fail boat philosophy into PVP and we earn another entry in the record of shame that all caldari pilots carry chained to their ankles.

True - however, if he flies Caldari, he has to train his missile skills anyway and most Caldari pilots I know say the Ferox is inferior to the Drake...

The Ferox isnt inferior. But it require a different skill set to be its best.
A tech 2 fitted Ferox with 250s and an active tank goes through most level 3s faster than a Drake for a high skills player.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

I am a Caldrai Missile guys myself. The Drake is a better tanker then the Ferox, but if he wants Rokh, the ferox is the way to go. Besides, with many hybrid SP he can go gallante as well rather easily.

Funny story - I've done level IV's in a Rokh with a split weapons 4 cruise/4rails layout. Very surprised at its effectiveness.
I fly both missile and hybrid Caldari boats. Train the guns for a Rokh anyways - but break it up with a missile skill here and there. Then for missions you can use a Caracal/Drake/Raven - but for pvp you can use a Moa/Ferox/rokh.
Plus its more fun being able to fly ships with 2 totally different weapon systems. |

You mean Capacitor Flux Coils right? Seems a bit odd to use something that reduces shield boost on an active shield tank setup.

no flux coils suck for a ship that cannot perma run its booster and because they reduce the amount of overall cap you have they are even worse for burst tanks(raven/rokh) the CPR reduction for boost amount isit that much and your burst tank is still extremely high.
