Pretty simple one this - have been running Eve on Vista and despite installing the game to a specific partition (I run seperate partitions for system, games, apps, etc) it insists on using my Windows drive (C:) to store patches, configurations, etc. As a result C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE was well over 2GB last time I checked.
Is there a way of forcing Eve to only store information (other than necessary registry stuff) inside the folder in which it was originally installed?

I would recommend freeing up some of your C drive space. Having too little will impact performance on your operating system.

Thanks but that doesn't answer my question. I don't want game files stored on my C drive.

I think it's fair to say that there's no way to make Eve store app data in another location. I've surely never seen a configuration somewhere in game, or out of.

And someone not having a C:\ drive letter at all (if I remember correctly), complained in this Channel also.
It sounds to me that some enviromental paths are "hardcoded" into the game, which is a bit silly.

Thanks all, seems like a bit of an oversight.

there is a windows application done by M$ that forces the changes you want, it was listed in one of the "get eve to work on a flash drive" guides in GD or OOP last week but i can't remember the name of it to save my life.

this way doesn't works for me (WinXP SP3) eve continuously stores all cache and log files to C cache to "C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE", logs to my "own files\eve" folder (i don't know how it's called in english)
the only solution for this problem i know, is the tool: NTFSLink (NTFS File Systems required) with that tool, you can link a folder (f.e. the "C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\CCP" folder) to another destination (f.e. "D:\Eve\Cache" or something else) after you installed it, you have to restart your pc then you have to create both folders first and both have to be empty. (make a backup of the files in the ccp folder) rightclick on the ccp folder on C:, NTFSLink -> Link Folder (should be in the menu) and set the destination to the target folder where you want to store the files. then copy&paste the backup in the ccp folder on C again. if you check your disk space of c, you probably have cleared up 2gb disk space on c don't worry about it if you check the disk space usage of the ccp folder on c and it says the same amount as before all files are now stored at the target destination.
only make sure you aren't changing any foldernames/drive letters that are linked with ntfslink - remove the links first.
that's the only solution that worked for me. i don't know if this tool is working under vista, but it should probably do
